Project Manager - Urban Development

Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer (Eng V) with 8-10 years of experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer for our Fort Worth office . This role will work on Civil Engineer to work on projects in our Urban Development Practice Area. This position will provide leadership, guide business development and project management on local Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area(and beyond as needed) engineering projects.

Duties:
  • Prepare preliminary engineering reports
  • Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings
  • Prepare of proposal/contract and of project work plans and schedule
  • Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities
  • Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work
  • Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS
  • Conduct site visits and documents findings
  • Work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise
  • Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence
  • Writes or prepares graphic materials for presentations or documents

Proven experience in management and leadership is required. Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and organizational skills are essential, along with a commitment to mentoring and developing employees. Previous experience in a municipal or office setting is preferred.

Licenses of Certifications

A valid Mississippi Drivers License. Flood Plain Manager Certification Required within 6 months of employment. Course certificate in related fields.

  • Directs the investigation of activities and practices in violation of codes and ordinances.
  • Works with boards and commission related to the enforcement of codes adopted by the city.
  • Responsible for issuing building permits.

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of college-level course work in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering or related field.
  • Ten (10) years' experience with five (5) years supervisory experience. Considerable administrative experience in code enforcement and building inspection programs preferred.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Proven experience in management and leadership is required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead teams effectively, supervise staff, delegate responsibilities, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and organizational skills are essential, along with a commitment to mentoring and developing employees. Previous experience in a municipal or office setting is preferred.

Licenses of Certifications:

  • A valid Mississippi Drivers License.
  • Flood Plain Manager Certification Required within 6 months of employment.
  • Course certificate in related fields.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR or other certificates related to Human Resources is preferred.
