1. Responsible for knowing Ultrasound Technician scope of practice and working within it, accountable at all times to an attending physician
2. Prepares exam rooms and patients for ultrasound examinations; maintains ultrasound equipment and machinery; notifies supervisor immediately of equipment defects

1. Obtains pertinent clinical data prior to sonographic examination, supervises the scheduling and preparation of patients, and records significant data.
2. Reviews pathology, surgical, and other reports to monitor patient progress and provides a means for evaluating the accuracy of ultrasound examinations.
3. Maintains a daily activities log and procedure manual; compiles data and issues monthly reports as required.
4. Ensures compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures; maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards in the work area.
5. Enters all pertinent patient information upon completion of procedures according to policy.
6. Appropriately prioritizes patients in work flow.
7. Confers with the department supervisor to report problems relative to equipment, staffing, and productivity.
8. Proficient in using portable sono machines in patient care areas.
9. Performs ultrasound exams as needed.
10. Assists in the clinical instruction of students when needed.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

• Successful completion of a formal program in ultrasound technology.

Required License/Certifications:

• Under the supervision of the Medical Director/Vascular Surgeon and the direction of the department manager (Clinical Coordinator), you will have the authority and responsibility to carry out your assigned duties.
• Perform safe, timely, and accurate ultrasound studies, including but not limited to:
  • Abdominal Aortic
  • Carotid Extracranial
  • Hemodialysis Access
  • Saphenous Vein Mapping
  • Arm Mapping (Venous/Arterial)
  • Renal Artery
  • Arterial ultrasound of both the upper and lower extremities
• Conduct all phases of diagnostic medical sonography to provide high-quality exams for diagnostic, therapeutic, and operative purposes.
• Ensure that all studies meet the expectations and requirements to maintain the current accreditations of both the vascular laboratory and the vein center.

Job Requirements:

• Hold or obtain current licensure as an RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent within 12 months of hire and maintain it as current.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
