**What You'll Do:**
+ Utilize advanced tire and vehicle testing capabilities, along with modeling and simulation technologies, to support performance assessments.

**What We're Looking For:**

+ Experience with vehicle modeling and simulation tools (e.g., CarMaker, VI-Grade, CarSim).
+ Proficiency in tire modeling and force & moment prediction software (e.g., MF-Tire, CD-Tire, F-Tire).

**JOB SUMMARY**
Our team develops and delivers best in class off-road vehicle dynamics performance to our customers through innovative vehicle dynamics controls features and electromechanical systems. Vehicle dynamics calibration and controls engineers are responsible for providing input to hardware development as well as developing actively controlled chassis technologies and control systems to deliver confident and exciting vehicle dynamics and chassis controls performance to our customers.
This position will have a specific focus on our chassis comfort systems such as electronic power steering, semi-active suspension, and electronic brake controls. As an Engineering in this position, you are expected to work cross functionally within the vehicle dynamics group and across the organization to bring vehicle dynamics control systems to life. The engineer will be expected to collaborate with product groups and broader engineering teams for successful integration of actively controlled vehicle dynamics technologies and control systems into the various vehicle platforms.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
· Uses engineering judgement, simulation, and test data to develop and specify software requirements, hardware requirements, calibration activities, and validation testing required for successful implementation of electromechanical hardware and control system technologies.
· Performance testing and data collection is required to ensure that the systems meets the performance targets for the vehicle.
· Responsible for translating vehicle-level requirements to system level specifications that accurately reflect the business needs.
· Capable of testing, calibrating, and generating requirements for complex chassis control systems
· Develop and specify system level fault reactions and control system diagnostics
· Oversees end-to-end calibration and development activities to ensure robust system design.

· Automotive chassis calibration and development experience of power steering or other systems
· Knowledge and experience with data analytics using Matlab, Python, or other tools required
· Experience with calibration and development tools including Vector, ETAS/Inca, AVL Creta

Exercises independent judgement and creative solution development with minimal direction from Manager. **What You'll Do** The Vehicle Dynamics Performance Engineer has responsibility for the development and tuning of the Vehicle Dynamics for a given vehicle or vehicle platform. Vehicle Dynamics includes Vehicle Ride Tuning, Vehicle Handling Tuning, Chassis Controls Development, Steering Tuning/Calibration, Tire Development, etc. The Vehicle Dynamics Performance Engineer defines performance requirements and leads the tuning integration of the vehicle hardware to achieve these requirements. This includes some or all of the following specific tasks: + Tune the vehicle ride and handling systems including damper and steering tuning to meet requirements. + Develop tires to meet requirements including steering, ride quality, snow handling, dry handling, and wet handling evaluations. + Design the vehicle development test plan and material to support it - calendar, events, milestones, test vehicles, locations, supplier scheduling, development parts, and demonstrations. + Create and apply models to determine system performance and interactions analytically to guide hardware development as applicable. + Set up vehicle measurement instrumentation and execute measurements as required during development to guide process. Interpret data. Measure vehicle as part of the validation of vehicle to requirements - both MVSS (federal) and global and internal. + Accurately status vehicle dynamics performance to requirements and develop effective solutions to close gaps to VTS, Consumers Reports, warranty, customer satisfaction and magazine metrics. + Effectively report results to Program Teams and Integration management and escalate issues for prompt resolution. + Demonstrate vehicle performance of vehicle dynamics systems to management and media + Effectively participate in program meetings, rides and other events to ensure that vehicle dynamics requirements are satisfied. + Initiate documents to provide engineering authority for design group and suppliers to execute design. + Work with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs + Support assembly plant at start of production as required + Supports ride evaluation trips and demonstrations. + Exchanges information with others as needed to work across architectures + Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products + Travel as required to GM & outside test facilities including but not limited to DPG, Northern Michigan, & customer test facilities (Army bases, NATC, Aberdeen, Yuma, etc.). + This work varies at different phases of the development program as a vehicle is taken from initial concept and planning through prototype development and final buy-off and start of production at the assembly plant. **Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)** + Bachelors in Engineering, Physics, or Technical related degree + 3+ years of experience in design/development/analysis/test of chassis subsystems; suspensions, steering systems, tires, brakes, powertrain mounting as applied to the development of vehicle level dynamic performance + 5+ years of engineering experience + Experienced in subjective evaluation skills with the ability to accurately rate vehicle ride, handling, steering, stability and acceleration/deceleration performance characteristics to set targets and status performance + Experienced in synthesizing new suspension, steering, tire/wheel, structures and control system designs to meet vehicle level performance requirements and driving performance driven requirements into the sourcing documents + Knowledgeable in the use of Vehicle Dynamics analysis tools and procedures to set requirements and make coarse balance decisions. Capability to use analysis to support the development of design recommendations + Understanding of tire mechanics, vehicle dynamics, testing and development practices to achieve balanced vehicle level performance + Eligible to obtain Secret U.S. Security Clearance after hire **What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)** + MS in Engineering + In depth knowledge of Truck vehicle integration or Military Ground wheel vehicle + Past experience on military or government projects. The ideal candidate is proficient in engineering software, proactive in performance-related collaboration, and passionate about working with accurate, efficient simulation models. **What You'll Do** + Play a key role as a performance simulation support engineer embedded within a NASCAR Cup Series racing team + Use advanced analytics and GM tools to process and interpret test and simulation results, providing insight for performance optimization and simulation modeling, while improving model correlation + Be part of the broader simulation support team seeking to continuously improve and investigate methods to utilize the simulation toolchain and increase race team performance + Assist teams with test plan development and execution using testing equipment, including SPMM/Kinematic rigs, 7-post test rigs, and push-up/down rigs + Provide race teams expert knowledge in the simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices + During at-track testing, when necessary, provide real-time support, including simulation model tuning based on setup adjustments and driver feedback + Troubleshoot simulation performance issues and recommend solutions during testing and competition + Represent racing team needs as a stakeholder in the simulation toolchain development process + Clearly communicate technical data, results and recommendations to GM and race team members **What You'll Need (Required Qualifications)** + Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree + **5 or more years of highly validated experience using simulation or other vehicle dynamics-based modeling software within a professional motorsport organization, preferably in a prior race-engineering role** + Highly analytical, customer focused, and structured, with positive relationship and strong communicative skills + Experience using data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, McLaren ATLAS + Exposure to modern software development tooling and environments, preferably C#, Python and Git + Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aero modeling techniques + Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interact well with others + Must be a great teammate, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrity + Passion for motorsports and strong understanding of vehicle dynamics engineering + Ability to multi-task in a multifaceted, constantly evolving environment, bringing a strong work ethic and integrity + This job may be eligible for relocation benefits + Travel to team or GM tests may be required up to 15% of time **What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)** + Master's degree in engineering, physics or related subject + Knowledge of using Dymola/Modelica in a simulation toolchain + Exposure to modern software development tooling and environments, preferably C# and Git + Prior NASCAR Race Engineering experience - utilizing simulation tools + Experience working with DiL simulators #LI-LP2 This role is categorized as hybrid.
