Working Conditions

Customary Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Chief Commercial Officer and other members of the team to build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients.
  • Support the planning and execution of speaking engagements at scientific conferences, trade shows, and webinars.
  • Assist in the design, coordination, and analysis of field trials and palatability studies for companion animals.
  • Maintain and update client contact records and internal customer databases.

Other Requirements

**Summary**
Perdue is seeking a Licensed and Board Certified/Board Eligible Doctor of Veterinary Medicine responsible for animal health, carcass quality, food safety, poultry welfare, biosecurity, emergency preparedness, industry liaison, regulatory/certification issues, and special projects as assigned. **Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Monitor and evaluate animal health in Perdue production facilities and plan veterinary health programs. Supervise and direct animal treatments. Ensure legal and appropriate usage of animal drugs, remedies, and vaccines. Maintain veterinarian/client relationship with Perdue food animal production.
+ Lead or supervise company activities relating to biosecurity and animal welfare. Supervise or advise as appropriate regarding in-house or external laboratory testing relating to animal health and food safety.
+ As assigned by supervisor or the company, lead or assist veterinary related company activities in the area of carcass quality, food safety, industry and government (local, state, federal) liaison, regulatory/certification, and emergency preparedness.

+ Maintain professional capabilities, knowledge, and experience regarding the practice of veterinary medicine and emergency animal diseases for the relevant species.

**Minimum Education**
+ DVM/VMD or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine and active veterinary license in good standing in a least one US state. If veterinary degree is from a non-AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine but veterinary license in at least one US state exists, AVMA-accredited requirement can be waived.
+ Must be able to obtain veterinary licenses for the states of DE, MD, PA, VA, WV and USDA-APHIS Accreditation for those states.
**Experience Requirements**
+ 5+ years of experience in the practice of poultry medicine in a live production setting or completion of a post-doctorate poultry training program.
+ Must have strong computer skills with standard business software.
+ Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicle for company travel.
+ Occasionally air travel will be required to support other regions across the United States.
**Experience Preferred**
+ 10+ years is highly preferred in practice of poultry medicine in a live production setting.

Here at theCollege of Veterinary Medicine ( **,** you'll contribute to a veterinary team by compiling a thorough medical record, processing client-owned animals for admission into & discharge from Auburn University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals, and serving as the frontline contact with our clients. Customer service representatives liaison with referring veterinarians, facilitate admission of patients needing emergency medical care and guide clients through the process of deciding which area of the hospital suits their patient's needs. In this position, you will play a critical role in the medical process and ensure the team has the information they need to make a difference for each patient. This position will primarily be focused within theVaughan Large Animal Teaching Hospital ( , with cross-training in the Small Animal Hospital required.

+ Welcomes clients to the hospital, registers clients' animals that are in need of medical attention and verifies client, patient, and referring veterinarian demographics.
+ Ensures all proper paperwork is completed, gathers records from other veterinary facilities as needed, compiles the physical medical record, and alerts the appropriate clinical personnel of the patient's arrival.
+ Appropriately directs clients to areas within the clinic for animal care and continues to ensure client's visit is successful.
+ Communicates frequently with the clinical team regarding patient/client needs and expectations.
+ Receives and screens telephone calls to include scheduling appointments; provides information and assistance to callers and/or visitors regarding clinic and hospital procedures and processes; determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response.
+ Contacts clients to confirm appointments, providing clients any information or instructions needed prior to their appointment.
+ Communicates admissions information, fees, discharge date(s), clinic regulations, or other clinic services to clients.
+ Discharges clients in a timely and appropriate manner. Ensures bill order is complete and has been verified by hospital auditors, ensures all medications have been given to the client.
+ Addresses any past accounts or financial follow-ups. Confirms client does not have any further clinical questions.
+ Generates, analyzes, validates, and verifies, financial records in-house as well as prepares, records, and verifies daily deposits and cash reports for Bursar's office.
+ Abides by rules and regulations for Veterinary Client Representatives as defined by the American Animal Hospital Association and policies and protocol of the College of Veterinary Medicine and teaching hospitals.

**Level II:** High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in a veterinary, medical office, or hospital setting working with medical records and hospital information systems.

+ Education beyond the high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution is desired
+ Excellent stress management and critical thinking skills
