WVRC is looking for an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician with a passion for leadership and patient care to be our next Clinical Supervisor at our Grafton location, working with the Emergency and Critical Care Department! Job Summary: The Nursing Supervisor oversees the nursing staff and manages daily operations to ensure high standards of care and staff performance. This role involves supervisory responsibilities such as recruitment, performance management, and strategic planning to enhance department efficiency and care quality. Schedule and Compensation: · Full-time · Second shift, 4pm-1am, shifts will run later on the weekends · Compensation will be dependent on experience and skillset Key Responsibilities: · Participates in the development of goals and operational criteria for assigned areas. Tracks progress. · Takes responsibility for operating within the approved budget. · Identifies and plans for staffing consistent with needs of client population and budgetary parameters. · Monitors and approves payroll for assigned areas. · Understands workflow of each department. · Leads problem-solving efforts for daily operations. · Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships across the hospital. · Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members. (Hospital policy requires a knowledgeable and responsible individual 24/7, covering all departments.) · Coordinates the required training and skills of staff. · Collaborates with staff at all levels and departments to streamline delivery of services without compromising care or hospitality. · Consults with clinical staff and client care to assess and articulate any problems; helps to develop strategies to resolve issues, ensuring client needs are met and satisfaction is attained. · Conducts regular employee development meetings. · Attends and coordinates other meetings as deemed necessary. · Participates in hiring activities; disciplinary actions; excellence acknowledgements and performance reviews. · Notifies Hospital Services Manager of equipment service needs. SUPERVISORY QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: · College or technical school education or equivalent work experience. CVT is required. · Technical credibility related to specialized expertise (call center, veterinary technician, client service, inventory, etc.). · Must possess and demonstrate effective leadership qualities. · Must possess mathematical abilities to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, addition, subtraction, multiplication division and proportions to practical situations. · Must possess analytic abilities to identify and analyze problems, weighs relevance and accuracy of information to provide effective solutions. · A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills learned to daily work life. · Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral. · Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in the technician protocols. · Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks / projects. · Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus. **Job Summary:**
Under policy direction from the Hospital Manager or Field Manager (i.e. ROD/RTD) with support of and input from the Medical Director, the Technician or VA Supervisor performs a wide range of activities, providing quality patient care, excellent client service, management of finances, staffing and personnel operations, and discretionary activities, that serve to support exceptional medicine and effective business operations.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
+ Have strong medical skills.

+ Have human resource skills.
+ Understand financial budget management.
+ Have good communication skills, both written and oral.
+ Be goal oriented.
+ Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts.

+ Ability to adapt to an environment of changing priorities and handle multiple tasks at once.
+ Be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions.
**Education and Experience:**
+ High School Diploma.
+ Certified or Registered Technician status or equivalent practice experience of at least 5 years.
**Authority:**
+ Interview, train, review, schedule, discipline, and discharge technical staff.
+ Can spend up to $200/month without authorization.
+ Can transfer employees to work another position within the hospital.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Dependable attendance is required.
+ Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication.
+ Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
+ Ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly.
+ Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone.
+ Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing hospital equipment such as electric clippers, syringes, radiology equipment, laboratory equipment, computers, etc.
**Duties:**
The following is a list of essential job requirements. This list may be revised at any time and additional duties not listed here may be assigned as needed.
Job Functions and Job Responsibilities include overseeing that the following occur within the hospitals:
**Staff Management - Technical Staff:**
+ Interview prospective candidates with appropriate references.
+ Participate in staff performance reviews.
+ Provide disciplinary action.
+ Training, education, and developing of team members.
+ Schedule the medical team utilizing the practices budget guidelines.
+ Assign job responsibility to each staff member, directing traffic in hospital, i.e., patient care, treatments, and staff duties daily.
+ Supervise staff to ensure that each job is being effectively handled.
+ Employee policy enforcement.
+ Monitor employee attendance, competence, and effectiveness.
**Patient Management:**
+ Oversee the process of patient admitting, hospitalization and discharge.
+ Responsible for administration, delegation, and completion of veterinarian's medical orders.
+ Mentor team members to ensure they follow VCA standards of quality medical care.
+ Ensure that all patient medical and surgical records are complete and accurate.
**Client Management:**
+ Oversee training of all staff in accordance with the principles of the VCA Mission Statement and VCA Standards of Client Service and that the above is known and practiced by all.
+ Oversee client flow to ensure that clients and patients are seen and treated in a professional, timely and competent manner.
+ Assist Medical Director with administration and review of client medical complaints.
+ Oversee compliance with call back system including overdue reminder calls.
**Office Management:**
+ Modify and update systems and procedures wherever needed to better serve clients, patients, the practice, and employees, i.e., modify schedules for the most productive use of time.
+ Verify receipt of all inventory and supplies, mark invoices and packing slips received and send to VCA for payment.
+ Ensure that the OSHA and Safety program, procedures and reports are being continuously monitored, and updated to keep the hospital in safety compliance.
**Records Management:**
+ Oversee that records are kept up to date. This includes client records with charges, medical history, vaccine status, medications administered, laboratory reports, etc.
+ Ensure that all hospital logs are being kept up to date and accurate (i.e. surgical monitoring, boarding, etc.).
+ Ensure controlled substance logs are kept up to date.
+ Understand and follow the VCA Controlled Substance Policy guidelines.
**Company Programs:**
+ Understand, participate in and support planned marketing events and programs (i.e. Care Club, Home Delivery, etc.).
+ Ensure that the hospital staff follows instructions for implementing marketing events and programs.
**Facility Maintenance:**
+ Place orders for medications and medical supplies within the hospital budget.
+ Oversee the maintenance and housekeeping of the hospital for cleanliness and organization of both the inside and outside of the building.
+ Monitor janitorial responsibilities.
+ Oversee the maintenance of medical equipment.
**Meetings:**
+ Attend regional meetings.
+ Attend/organize monthly team meetings in conjunction with hospital management team.
+ Meet with the Medical Director, Hospital Manager, and Regional Technician Director to discuss, evaluate and plan for the welfare of the practice.
**Communication:**
+ Read and respond to all communication in a timely manner.
+ Ensure the VCA policies, guidelines and recommendations are quickly communicated to hospital staff and adequate training.
