What you'll do
Responsibilities includes but not limited to, building and maintaining custom test system, RF testing, and troubleshooting down to the circuit level of RF based hybrid electro-mechanical module and sub-assemblies within Viasat Government.
Support programs of diverse scope and use your knowledge and good judgement to help develop methods and procedures to perform measurements such as gain, P1dB, noise figure, phase noise, adjacent channel rejection, and isolation, just to name a few.
The day-to-day
You will need keen attention to detail as you run high level RF Tests and create associated documentation.
This includes working with Designers, Test Engineers, and manufacturing team members to help solve problems or help identify root cause. This requires the ability and desire to work well others.
What you'll need
- Associates of Science Degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent work experience.
- A good understanding of basic electronic concepts including the ability to read and interpret schematics, professional or academic.
- Read schematics and understand electronic circuits
- Basic computer skills including good skills with Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and team skills
- Self-directed, can work with minimal supervision
- Ability to follow direction but can work autonomously when needed.
- US citizenship required.
- US government position.
- Up to 10% Travel.
- Experience with RF test, measurement, and calibration techniques
- Experience working in an engineering environment (high levels of ambiguity)
- Experience testing and troubleshooting RF amplifiers, LNAs, and Up/Down Converters
- Experience with test equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, noise figure meters, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and thermal chambers/plates.
Salary range
$24.52 - $8.94 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is 30.77 - 46.15/ hourly

What You'll Do
This is a role for a Embedded Software Engineer within Viasat Government who is eager to contribute to a small, fast-paced team. You will develop software to support encrypted communications systems including Layer 2 and Layer 3 In-line Network Encryptors, embedded cryptographic devices, and emerging cryptographic solutions. You will interface and collaborate with system, test, and hardware engineers as new capabilities are developed and transitioned into service.
The day-to-day
- Design and implementation with embedded software in C/C++
- Linux OS use, for an embedded environment
- TCP/IP and common network configuration
- Linux kernel driver development/modifications
- Familiarity with to bare metal embedded device drivers
- Microprocessors and embedded processors (NIOS, ARM, RISC-V, etc.)
- RESTConf interface design and implementation
- Emulation Environments
- Networking protocols (e.g. IPSec, MACsec, TLS, etc.)
- Python development
- Standalone embedded applications
- Participating in multi-disciplinary teams
- This program is to develop, test, and certify the Next Generation Encryptor (NGE) High-Speed encryptor to support government enterprise networks.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- At least 2-3 years design and implementation experience with embedded software in C/C++.
- At least 1 year Linux OS use, ideally for an embedded environment
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP and common network configuration
- Object-oriented software development experience
- Agile Scrum development experience
- Ability to plan, track, and report on progress
- CI/CD software
- Good oral and written communication skills
- US citizenship and an active SECRET (or higher) security clearance is required

As a Systems Integration Engineer, you'll guide successful transition of products through development to a fully released platform supported by the Viasat Network Operations Center.
The day-to-day
You will also facilitate the integration of new customers onto existing Viasat communications platforms. What you'll need
- Proven experience integrating, operating, maintaining, and testing RF communication systems
- Fundamental knowledge of satellite communications theory, RF transmission theory, electrical theory, Linux OS, and the OSI model
- Demonstrated experience working with IP/Networking devices, including configuration, application and troubleshooting of routers, switches, ASA/Firewalls, IP Encryptors and IP networks

As a Systems Integration Engineer in Viasat Government, you will become part of a team of skilled professionals dedicated to designing and developing Viasat's Remote Sensing Antenna Systems and Satellite Communication Terminals.
The day-to-day
You daily tasks will include the design and documentation of cabling interfaces between and within major subassemblies or antenna systems along with the selection of components included in them. You will perform basic network planning and setup activities. You will participate in customer design reviews, where you will describe the design solutions you have selected in accordance with customer requirements. You will be responsible for the preparation of test plans and procedures and conducting factory and site acceptance tests. You will also prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommend solutions to technical problems. The candidate will also advise the selection and set-up specialized test equipment to include BER, Group Delay, G/T or Servo Response testing. A strong mechanical background and experience with mechanical assembly is a plus, as you may also assist in the assembly of the mechanical structure of the antenna systems at Viasat and in the field. You will actively maintain good customer relations as the face of Viasat on sites.
- Create documents using AutoCAD such as interconnects, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, etc.
- Maintain an indentured drawing list that consists of components and equipment already defined
- Structure a Bill of Material (BoM) for ordering parts as outlined in the indentured drawing list
- Share the responsibility of lead during the integration and testing of an antenna system at the factory and customer site
- Conduct system level testing such as G/T, EIRP, BERT, and servo dynamics, with support
- 2+ years of experience in the design and/or assembly of RF systems, AC/DC circuits, Servo motor controls, and modem/baseband equipment and the cables that interconnect these devices
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, related technical field or equivalent work experience
- Experience configuring vendor equipment remote control interfaces to communicate over a local area network
- Experience analyzing requirements, developing test plan/procedures and detailing test results
- Familiar with AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT or similar CAD package for the creation of wiring diagrams and schematics
- Experience in the operation of any of the following equipment: Multi-meter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, and Network Analyzer
- Able to work independently and solves sophisticated problems in remote locations with minimal assistance
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative Business Development Solutions Architect to join our Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Business Area (BA)! We deliver complex turnkey satellite ground stations to US Government end users, integrating cutting edge technologies in antennas, modems, encryption, cybersecurity, and related areas! As a Solution Architect, you will develop and maintain customer intimacy with key Prime and Government accounts, driving the full breadth of business development activities from the earliest shaping of emerging opportunities to major capture and keep sold of franchise programs in the portfolio. You will lead teams of solution professionals and technical domain experts in the development of integrated, cost-effective solutions for inclusion in proposal responses that meets the customer's requirements and enhances Viasat's competitive advantage. Emphasis for this position is knowledge of government agencies within the Intelligence Community (IC).
The day-to-day
- Carry out the broad range of business development activities including market development, opportunity qualification, customer relationship management, decision mapping, competitive intelligence, customer analysis, competitor assessment, message and strategy development, written responses to requests for information and proposals.
- For active pursuits, lead the technical solution development, participate in the competitive costing, and ensure business case alignment of ISR's proposals to the customer's requirements.
- Present all aspects of the integrated solution and supporting costing to senior business leaders for review and approval, identifying and evaluating solution risks and creating strategies and plans to mitigate those risks.

- Strong Systems Engineering competencies with RF communications, antennas, modems and waveforms, and DoD Risk Management Framework
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related field and 10+ years related work experience
- Ability to quickly grasp technology concepts and translate their value to customers
- Passion for customer intimacy and evidence of high productivity executing core business development practices
- Experience working across organizational boundaries and jurisdictions and leading customer meetings and cross-discipline teams in development of customer solutions
- Proven track record of managing multiple competing priorities and quickly adapting to changing business environment and priorities

Salary range
$135,000.00 - $13,500.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is 168,000.00- 252,000.00/ annually

What you'll do
This is a role for a hardware engineer within Viasat Government who is eager to contribute to a small, fast-paced team. You will help design, document, implement, prototype, and test cutting edge high speed digital circuit boards for encrypted communications systems including Spaceborne and Ground-based Encryptors and embedded cryptographic devices. You will interface and collaborate with system, programmable logic, software, and test engineers as new capabilities are developed and transitioned into service. In addition, you will provide support to production and product support to help support operational networks when support is required from development.
The day-to-day
- Designing, prototyping, and testing high speed (up to 10GbE) digital circuit boards to include microprocessor, FPGA, memory, networking, optical, and power supply components
- Design for manufacture, assembly, and test
- Modeling and simulation, schematic, CAD, and signal propagation software tools using Mentor Graphic DxDesigner, Expedition/Planner, and Hyperlynx
- Proficient with test equipment - lab bench power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, eye pattern analyzers, and traffic generators
- Work with technology suppliers and subcontractors
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet schedule and see a program to completion.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work with system, hardware, firmware, software, and test teams.
- Knowledge of encryption and information assurance technologies
- Knowledge of network communication concepts
- PWB design and layout, which include concepts for HS Layout
- Trade study and analysis
- Make or buy analysis
- 8+ years of hardware design and a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Foundational knowledge of analog and digital logic and timing considerations
- Must be able to prioritize, be detail oriented, and have history of managing time well to accomplish multiple tasks in parallel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results
- US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance is required
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Ability to document and report on technical solutions/findings
- Good working knowledge of MS Office products for documentation creation and modification
- Familiarity with standard test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
- Familiarity with production related processes and common failure modes
- High aptitude for learning new things
- Desire to be part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production related issues
Salary range
$127,000.00 - $00,500.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is 144,500.00- 216,500.00/ annually
