What you'll do
As a Systems Integration Engineer, you'll guide successful transition of products through development to a fully released platform supported by the Viasat Network Operations Center.
The day-to-day
You will also facilitate the integration of new customers onto existing Viasat communications platforms. You are intimately involved in the specification, integration, test, demonstration, deployment, documentation and formal release of Government and Commercial mobile broadband SATCOM hubs and terminals. You work closely with project teams that may include software, hardware, network, mechanical, test and system engineers during all phases of product development, integration, test, deployment and implementation. You consistently add value to the design and release of new products through the application of both theoretical and practical knowledge to optimize the end-user experience, implementation, and product reliability/sustainability. In this highly diverse role the Project team, Service team and customers rely on your knowledge, versatility, and flexibility to own key responsibilities that position you to become an authority on the product and drive the transition into service. You are integral to the formal release process, development of documentation, training material and initial customer training, and will interact with a broad spectrum of internal support organization and aggressively support the release process and resolution of issues.
What you'll need
- Proven experience integrating, operating, maintaining, and testing RF communication systems
- Fundamental knowledge of satellite communications theory, RF transmission theory, electrical theory, Linux OS, and the OSI model
- Demonstrated experience working with IP/Networking devices, including configuration, application and troubleshooting of routers, switches, ASA/Firewalls, IP Encryptors and IP networks
- Demonstrated experience creating test plans, test procedures, and test reports
- Experience working in multi-discipline engineering teams such as software development, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, network engineering, operations, production test, and technical publications
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal, and ability to tailor communications to internal stakeholders as well as customers
- Proven strategic, critical, and analytical problem-solving skills
- Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
- US Government position. US Citizenship required
- Active Secret Clearance or have held one in the past two years
- Up to 25% to domestic and international travel - potential for locations with Travel Warnings as defined by US State Department
- COMPTIA Linux+ Certified
- Experience with airborne ISR platforms and mobile broadband communications.
- Basic knowledge of Python and scripting
- Military background
- Cisco CCENT or CCNA
Salary range
$93,000.00 - $47,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is 115,500.00- 173,500.00/ annually

You will be a proven leader with expertise in product line management, government communications, and secure networking solutions. In this role, you will oversee business strategy, product development, and execution, ensuring our solutions meet the evolving needs of government customers. You will own profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities, implement rapid growth of the product development team, and lead the team of program managers and cross-functional development engineers to successfully complete next-generation encryption solution developments, certifications, transitions to production, and sustainment. The day-to-day Product Lifecycle & Execution Oversee product development, from concept through launch, production, and sustainment. Manage product financials, including forecasts, risks, and opportunities. Coordinate and prioritize the work of supporting functions, including supply chain, production, quality assurance, IT, marketing, and security. Leadership & Team Management Rapidly expand the engineering team, tools, and support functions to complete a growing portfolio of product developments. Lead and mentor a team of program managers and engineers to complete successfully on next-generation encryption product developments. Collect market intelligence, assess customer needs, conduct competitive analysis, and define a multi-year product roadmap. Develop long-term strategic plans and drive adjacent market entry. Develop capture strategies and lead the business acquisition process. Collaborate with other Viasat business areas with a “One-Team” approach. Engage with senior leadership to brief on strategic markets, plans, and initiatives. Knowledgeable in the Federal Government and DoD budget planning, acquisition processes, and program lifecycle. Experience in developing business cases and proposals for internal and external partners. Ability to lead cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams.
