Statement of the Job : The Video Producer, reporting to the Senior Video Producer, will lead the creation and execution of video content across multiple channels. In this creative and dynamic role, the Video Producer will transform storyboards and concepts into compelling, high-quality videos that educate, inspire, and engage our audiences. This effort will support ticket sales for events at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, The Ford, YOLA and other venues and programs. The Video Producer will play a vital role in advancing our mission to promote and celebrate the arts and the LA Phils role in our community.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Manage all aspects of original video content creation, including pre-production, production, and post-production processes, including planning, scheduling, shooting, motion graphics, editing, mixing, color grading, and deployment.
  • Engage and manage production crews, secure locations, obtain necessary permits, and facilitate production needs.
  • Understand and embody LA Phils strategic brand messaging to create video content that advances both marketing and institutional narratives.
  • Ensure all projects meet high creative standards, are delivered on time, and stay within budget.
  • Collaborate with the Video and other teams to develop video content strategies for LA Phil, Hollywood Bowl, The Ford, YOLA, and internal departments across websites, social media, digital platforms, and video series.
  • Partner with departments such as Programming, Learning, Philanthropy, and Production, to represent LA Phils strategic vision effectively, turning project briefs into actionable production plans.
  • Collaborate, train, onboard, and share knowledge with members of the Video Team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, guest artist management, and internal stakeholders to ensure a balanced message that aligns with the project's strategic vision.
  • Ensure all projects meet rights and licensing requirements with guidance from Legal and Media Initiatives departments.
  • Manage and maintain video assets, gear inventory, security, and internal archives.
  • Source, edit, and clear rights for internal video assets for use by external stakeholders, such as news media or artist projects.
  • Work with the Senior Video Producer and Senior Director, Brand to manage project budgets, schedules, approvals, and deliverables, incorporating feedback and tracking production milestones.
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative analytics to refine and advance video strategies.
  • When assigned, travel with LA Phil on tours to produce content across various channels.
  • Embrace and implement emerging video platforms and production techniques, including 360-degree and VR content.
  • Budget, track, and finalize expenses for projects as assigned.

    Requirements :

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in hands-on video and audio production
  • Must be able to film and direct crews in a broad range of production styles and scales, including using gimbals and large cinema builds, setting up and tearing down complex lighting and sound rigs, and managing entire crews while giving clear direction and creative guidance
  • Must be able to operate flexibly as a solo shooter if situations require
  • Deep experience recording, editing, mixing and mastering audio for both studio and location projects preferred
  • Skilled in creative applications such as within the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and a digital audio workstation of choice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be highly organized, efficient, and proactive
  • Flexible schedule on nights and weekends to be available for concert / artist filming opportunities as business need dictates
  • Experience managing motion graphics
  • Copy editing, proofreading, fact checking, research and / or writing as required
  • A proven ability to work under tight deadlines and facilitate quick turnarounds on projects
  • Experience capturing live performances

    Senior Producer, Video Production Center

    USA TODAYs national news video team is looking for a Senior Producer who can manage a world-class team of video producers and editors, overseeing daily news coverage and ensuring high-quality digital video content for USA TODAY and its network properties.

    The Senior Video Producer will manage the afternoon/evening news video team, reporting to the Executive Producer of Digital Video on the USA TODAY Network Photo and Video Team. This position will work closely with USA TODAYs large network of National reporters to coordinate the production and distribution of video content.

    This Senior Producer will assign video production and live stream content to a team of video producers and editors and manage a production calendar for all incoming and outgoing videos. The Senior Video Producer and its team of producers will work with the national and local video programming teams to help determine which videos to create on a daily and weekly basis pending the news cycle. They will be familiar with analytics platforms such as Parse.ly and Google Analytics as well as social platform analytics. They will track analytics daily and use metrics to inform production priorities.

    This Senior Producer will be a leader of daily video needs, acting as the point person for the Video Production Center in the time of their shift. This person will need to be able to prioritize quickly and effectively, delegate appropriately, and communicate between several different teams through the day.

    This Senior Producer should have experience finding and pitching story ideas for a large-scale news media brand. This person should be able to not only spot potential video opportunities but also be able to envision that videos life cycle across Gannett O&Os, social platforms, partners, and OTT. This candidate should also be capable of suggesting visually compelling ways to tell stories, have strong interviewing and writing skills, highly proficient in meta data writing as well as SEO considerations.

    Our immediate need is for a Senior Producer on the afternoon/evening shift. However, this candidate should have the flexibility to work on all shifts and possibly weekends and occasional overtime as news events require. Our preference is candidates who are near Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Atlanta, or New York City, but remote workers in all states except for Alaska and Hawaii will be considered.

    Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of video production including writing, researching, planning, coordinating logistics, technical production, script approval, and video editing.
    • Manage and coordinate daily assignments, future planning, and programming.
    • Provide editorial, copyright, and rights management guidance.
    • Lead story curation at national level.
    • Create and manage connections across the USA TODAY Network of reporters, writers, producers, editors, and digital managers, to coordinate requests and ideas.
    • Responsible for tracking video performance metrics for on platform, mobile, and app video view reporting on a daily, monthly, and as needed basis.
    • Ensure the team is following best practices.
    • Train/onboard and supervise staff.
    • Ensure video content drives a variety of revenue opportunities across multiple platforms including on-platform, syndication, and social.

    Requirements:
    • Bachelors or masters degree in communications, journalism, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
