Classification Purpose: The primary purpose of the Deputy Dog Warden classification is to enforce Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Chapter 955 within the county.
Schedule: 2nd shift 2pm - 10pm (Tues/Wed OFF)
Job Duties: Enforce statutes regulating licensing, ownership and control of animals. Investigate citizen and conduct investigations of animal bite/scratch cases. Conduct preliminary assessment of sick and injured dogs and impound and transport animals to animal shelter, if necessary. Impound and transport dogs, cats, raccoons, bats or other animals when rabies exposure is suspected. Prepare and issue notices of violation and criminal complaints to dog owners for violations of ORC Chapter 955. Take livestock loss reports. Set and retrieve animal traps as needed. Receive service requests from the radio dispatcher. Investigate possible designations of dogs as nuisance, dangerous or vicious by collecting photographic and physical evidence and witness statements.
Patrol assigned area to check for loose dogs and other ORC Chapter 955 violations and assist law enforcement agencies when warrants are served regarding ORC Chapter 955 violations. Check dog license and rabies tags for date and validity. Transport animals to other agencies as needed. Establish public contact to promote community awareness. Function as a Radio Dispatcher in a backup capacity. Perform other related animal shelter support as assigned. Perform community relations duties as directed. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Contributes to the public safety mission by directing the activities of multiple areas including Security, Treatment, Medical, Safety and Food Service departments and ongoing security operations in an institutional setting. Position Responsibilities
1. Protection of life and property, and interdiction of criminal activity through, high visibility, vehicular and foot patrol on the campus and maintains log of all patrol activities.

Dispatches police vehicles by radio, receives and transmits orders and instructions using appropriate code language to police officers at the scene of an emergency, and dispatches back-up units to provide adequate coverage to other areas. Dispatches police vehicles to emergency medical calls and notifies ambulance service to respond. Receives and transmits complaint calls to Animal Control Officer; Operates Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to input and maintain daily complaints as well as various other records management duties.
Physical Demands: Must be able to able to push/pull/lift light objects of less than twenty-five (25) pounds and sit for prolonged periods. Able to perform manipulative skills which require hand-eye coordination such as keyboarding skills. St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent's is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system's second-largest hospital.
Job Summary
Public Safety Officers serve as front line guardians to the Hartford HealthCare Community by providing customer service and ensuring our environments are safe, secure and more prepared for all of our patients, visitors, colleagues, clinicians and physicians. Public Safety Officers are equipped to prevent hazardous situations with their presence, respond and manage hazardous and emergency situations and provide support and resources when situations are successfully managed.
* Provides professional, customer service focused assistance to the HHC Community including patients, visitors, families, colleagues, clinicians, physicians, and the first responder community, among others.
* Patrols and rounds facility to identify concerning activity, safety concerns or other problems. May be assigned to fixed areas to check credentials, provide information or directions. When assigned to mobile patrols, operates vehicles in a safe manner complying with all traffic and safety rules.
* Provides a timely response, uses problem solving to take appropriate action to manage and investigate security incidents and hazards.
* Maintain current knowledge of instructions, policies and procedures and performs work in accordance with these guidelines.
* Shares information with other Public Safety Officers, maintains accurate activity logs and completes reports and documentation.
* Partners with law enforcement and other first responders when circumstances warrant.
* Informs supervisor or other leadership of unusual situations and request additional assistance as needed.
* Completes other duties as assigned.
* One (1) year of relevant experience (public safety, corrections, emergency medical services, military) required.
High school diploma/GED required
* Valid driver's license required
* Valid CT Guard Card required
* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required
* Two (2) years of relevant experience preferred
* Basic First Aid and CPR preferred
* Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) preferred
* Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) preferred
* Multilingual preferred
* Ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction based on the current circumstances.
* Focused on providing an exceptional experience to our patients, customers, staff, organizations, and internal and external partners.
* Ability to analyze and solve a variety of difficult situations, problem events, emergencies.
* Attention to detail and ability to handle tasks independently.
* Basic to intermediate computer and technology skills, electronic tools and resources.
