DUTIES :

Performs warehouse work involving receiving, storing, and shipping merchandise. Work is usually repetitive and involves unloading, stacking, binning, rotating, and marking stock in accordance with standardized operating instructions. Verifies incoming and outgoing shipping documents. May use automated material identification equipment such as bar code, wands, computer terminals, and laser scanners to select storage locations of items being shipped or received. Uses common hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and pliers as well as hand trucks, hand lifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and electric lifts. Assists in the taking of inventories at required intervals.

Works under guidance of a supervisor or higher graded worker who provides general instruction on repetitive assignments and specific guidance, including written instructions on new operations or procedures. Work is periodically spot-checked.

Performs housekeeping tasks such as cleaning floors, fixtures, etc., as needed in the areas assigned. Duties may also include minor maintenance and miscellaneous duties in order to ensure the facility is maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.

Welcome customers and maintain product knowledge. React to all concerns of customers quickly. Communicate information regarding product availability. Uphold predefined customer services standards.

Comply with established safety standards, emergency preparedness requirements and all policies regarding loss prevention. Be aware and proactive regarding shrink.

Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

Minimum :

  1. Must be able to read and comprehend English and write legibly. Must be able to apply basic math skills.
  2. Must be able to bend, stoop and frequently lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds independently and objects over 50 pounds with assistance.

Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

  1. Knowledge of basic warehouse procedures as evidenced by 6 months of equivalent experience as a warehouse worker or material handler in a retail environment.

  • Spotting of trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment for the day.

Job Description

FedEx Ground is hiring part-time and full-time individuals to load and unload packages in our fast-paced warehouse environment. Part-time employees typically work a 2-4-hour shift per day. Full-time employees work approximately two shifts per day of varying lengths. Package Handlers are responsible for warehouse duties including: the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages of varying sizes and weights by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, scanning, placing packages, as well as physical bending, twisting, kneeling and etc. in a safe and efficient manner. Shifts may vary depending on warehouse package volume and business needs.
