We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Material Handling Safety Specialist to join our client’s team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of rigging, lifting, and material handling processes throughout our Springfield and Iowa facilities. You will lead safety initiatives, train personnel, and provide expertise in the design and use of below-the-hook (BTH) lifting devices and equipment. This position plays a vital role in promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement within our client’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate rigging, lifting, and material handling risks to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.

  • Lead cross-functional safety projects with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

  • Develop and implement procedures and policies for safe operation of cranes, rigging, and lifting equipment.

  • Provide training and hands-on assessments to ensure personnel are competent in rigging and crane operation.

  • Oversee inspections, documentation, and compliance for below-the-hook (BTH) devices and other critical lifting equipment.

  • Standardize and coordinate procurement of rigging and lifting devices across the facility.

  • Continuously evaluate the safety and suitability of material handling equipment and processes.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.

  • 3–5 years of experience as a crane operator, rigging specialist, or in a similar material handling safety role.

  • ANAB-accredited crane and rigging certifications preferred.

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to influence safety culture.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Schedule & Travel:


  • Regular, on-site attendance required.

  • Occasional travel to our Iowa facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Receiving incoming shipments
  • Labeling all goods received
  • Ensure incoming product is delivered to the proper location
  • Operate powered sweepers and scrubbers to clean all walkways and drive aisles

As a Shipping and Receiving Associate at Vital Farms, you will work within our state-of-the-art manufacturing and production facility to load and unload our pasture-raised eggs from our family farms. This role at Egg Central Station (ECS) is critical in bridging the gap from local family farms to grocery stores for our consumers. You'll be on your feet during each twelve-hour shift, moving, lifting, loading and working with air-conditioned and sunlight-filled warehouse.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 1 year of shipping and receiving experience

  • Able to be certified to operate a forklift or pallet jack
