Seeking Director of Marketing & Brand for Tech Company Focused on Policy and AI

TorchLight Hire is seeking a Head of Brand & Marketing to lead brand strategy and demand generation efforts for a fast-growing, venture-backed SaaS company at the intersection of public policy and artificial intelligence. If you are a strategic, hands-on B2B marketer with a passion for driving impact and building brands from the ground up, this could be your next move. Location :

Qualified applicants must be in the DC Metro area; this is a hybrid role requiring 3 days / week on-site in Washington, DC.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Define and execute a compelling brand identity and go-to-market strategy across all marketing channels
  • Design and manage integrated demand generation campaigns to drive qualified prospect meetings
  • Develop thought leadership content, including blog posts, op-eds, white papers, and event panels
  • Oversee all digital marketing initiatives including website content, SEO / SEM, CRM / email campaigns, and analytics
  • Plan and execute media outreach, press releases, and influencer engagement within the DC policy ecosystem
  • Manage event marketing strategy and execution, both virtual and in-person
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, sales, and customer success teams
  • Manage marketing vendors, contractors, and freelancers as needed
  • Analyze marketing performance and optimize campaigns for pipeline growth and brand awareness

Skills and Experience :

  • 8+ years of experience in B2B marketing for SaaS, government technology, or policy-related sectors
  • Strong background in brand development and full-funnel marketing execution
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills; ability to translate complex ideas into engaging content
  • Knowledge of the Washington, DC public policy landscape is required
  • Experience using CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Zoho, GA)
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced startup environments with comfort around ambiguity
  • Strong leadership, project management, and vendor oversight skills
  • Experience in event marketing and media relations is a plus

    • Drive the development and execution of an integrated thought leadership and content strategy, amplifying RTI's scientific expertise through white papers, webinars, conferences, and media engagement.
    • Build and operationalize a marketing performance framework, integrating dashboards, KPIs, and real-time analytics to measure marketing ROI and support revenue forecasting.

    Job Description

    The Senior Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies and campaigns for ABA products, resources, and initiatives.

    The Senior Marketing Manager will develop messaging, targeted email campaigns, and marketing content and collateral for print, online advertising, web, social media, direct mail, and other channels. This role focuses on marketing for ABAs online training, certifications, and webinars in risk, compliance, retail and lending verticals, including messaging, data strategy, email campaigns, social, print, and digital advertising.

    The Senior Manager will oversee an annual marketing budget and work closely with colleagues in the Office of Member Engagement to develop strategies to meet an annual revenue budget.

    The Senior Manager will work regularly in ABAs email platforms, Stensul and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and serve as a power user to assist the Senior Director and team members on email campaign execution. The position analyzes and reports campaign results and applies learnings to direct future campaigns and strategy.

    The Senior Manager also leads marketing for ABA Communities, online forums for members to collaborate with bankers across the country. Other responsibilities include marketing support for ABA departments as needed, such as Public Relations, State Association Division, Communications, and Human Resources. Regular contact with ABA staff and external vendors is required, and the ability to manage multiple projects independently is essential.

    Functions And Requirements Of The Senior Marketing Manager Role

    • Project Management - Manage multiple projects independently with minimal supervision, providing strategic direction to in-house designers and copywriters.
    • Liaison Work - Collaborate extensively with internal clients and external vendors to ensure plans and projects meet program goals.
    • Campaign Analysis - Monitor, review, and report on all marketing campaigns, analyzing performance against goals and providing recommendations to improve effectiveness.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop and execute marketing strategy for designated business lines within OME (compliance, risk management, financial crimes, retail, lending and payments).

    • Manage a $40K annual marketing budget and develop strategies to meet a $M annual revenue budget.

    • Develop a comprehensive, multi-channel marketing plan to encourage registration and engagement with ABA Communities among ABA member bankers.
    • Collaborate with the marketing lead for ABA membership marketing to identify and leverage communications and other opportunities.
    • Consistently report to ABA stakeholders from Communications and the Office of Member Engagement on plan initiatives.

    Manage advertising for ABA products and resources in ABA marketing channels.

    • Run meetings with Marketing, PR, and Web team to schedule placement of advertising in email bulletins, magazines, and website.
    • Collect and place copy and graphics on ABA.com and in email bulletins.
    • Liaise with ABA Banking Journal and ABA Risk and Compliance owners for print ads.

    Manage marketing projects and campaigns for ABA departments, products, and initiatives.

    • Collaborate with colleagues to develop marketing strategies and resources including email newsletters, webpage content, and materials to promote workshops and webinars.

    Assist the Senior Marketing Director with Email Marketing within the Stensul and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Platforms.

    • Support marketers as an SFMC Power User, including uploading approved emails from Stensul to SFMC, activating single-send emails and journeys, and designing emails in Stensul.
    • Implement initiatives to attract new prospects and clean data, such as online lead generation forms and outreach to update records.
    • Create analysis on email marketing campaigns and support the Senior Marketing Director as directed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communication, Business or related field.
    • 5-7 years of related professional experience.
    • Experience with Marketing Automation Platforms.
    • Experience working in a digital marketing environment.
    • Familiarity with Google Analytics.

    Position summary :
    The Vice President, Marketing (VP) is responsible for the evolution and integrity of the American Humane Society (AHS) and Global Humane Society (GHS) brand and the development and deployment of marketing strategies to achieve the critical business objectives for the first animal welfare organization in the country as well as position the organization for international growth. The VP will play a critical leadership role in defining the American Humane brand blueprint for the future, developing a strategy that defines how we go to market, redefining our value proposition, identifying target audiences, amplifying our partnerships, and driving best-in-class creative.

    The VP will oversee, grow, and improve the awareness, interest and ranking of American Humanes brand. This critical role will determine long and short-term objectives, develop strategies to achieve those goals, and ensure the marketing team stays focused and executes high value/impact activities. The VP will lead the analytical, creative and digital elements of marketing including brand and positioning, building advocacy and influencers, content marketing, market analytics, program sales, and fundraising support and lead generation.

    They serve as the steward of the organizations brand by providing strategic oversight of the marketing team and working cross-functionally, to ensure seamless integration of strategies and goals for the organization. Working in collaboration with the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), the VP will ensure maintenance of the organizations brand guidelines are inclusive of its visual identity, naming architecture, position, pillars and voice. The VP provides leadership and direction over traditional marketing channels, digital marketing, creative services, and partnership and sales marketing.

    This role reports directly to the SVP & Chief Growth Officer and works closely and collaboratively with the President & CEO, EVP, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Program Officer, CCO, VP, Partnerships and senior leadership across the organization.

    Responsibilities :
    Marketing Strategy, Vision and Leadership:
    • Reimagine and implement a strategic marketing vision that embraces an integrated marketing approach, that positively builds the brand through awareness and engagement with American Humane programs. Promote and protect the American Humane brand and message; broaden awareness and visibility of American Humanes programs and priorities across key audiences; and, alongside key fundraising and program team members, enhance and grow American Humanes base of donors and program customers.
    • Work with the CGO, CPO, COO, CCO, VP, Partnerships, and relevant agency partners to refine the American Humane brand architecture, vision, and strategy partnering with program leads across the organization to refine product value proposition, establish product-market fit, design brand pillars that support our programmatic offerings and program sales value propositions.
    • Support American Humanes CCO and CEO on PR and executive visibility plans.
    • Ensure high-quality KPIs are set and employed to gauge the effectiveness of marketing across the organization and within partnership deliverables in meeting American Humanes brand and program goals.

    Job Summary:

    U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is dedicated to transforming the built environment for a healthier and sustainable world. They are seeking a Vice President of Product Marketing to oversee the launch and positioning of USGBC and GBCI products and services, ensuring they meet customer needs and deliver measurable impact. This role will involve managing a team, conducting market research, and developing marketing strategies to drive product adoption.

    Responsibilities:

    Oversee planning and implementation of marketing and positioning strategies for product launches.

    Lead market research including customer needs, product preferences and competitive analyses to inform product development and positioning

    Support the execution and monitoring of marketing campaigns in coordination with sales activities.

    Help maintain and update a marketing and communications calendar aligned with the overall marketing plan.

    Understand the target market, competitor landscape, and customer needs to inform product positioning and strategy.

    Develop launch plans, including pricing, distribution channels, and promotional campaigns.

    Create sales enablement tools, content, and campaigns to generate awareness and drive sales.

    Develop clear product definition, value proposition, messaging and positioning strategies based on assessment of users, needs and demand.

    Manage product launches, including release strategies and onboarding.

    Develop and execute marketing campaigns and measure their success.

    Craft clear and impactful messaging that highlights the product's unique value proposition.

    Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop marketing content, such as articles, blogs, case studies, presentations, and infographics.

    Draft and update messaging for GBCI-administered programs including PEER, SITES, TRUE, ICP, and others.

    Support brand management initiatives and ensure alignment with corporate identity standards.

    Assist in planning and implementing promotional campaigns to increase program visibility.

    Track and report on marketing performance metrics to enhance audience engagement.

    Stay updated on new marketing tools, trends, and techniques to improve communication and achieve organizational objectives.

    Work closely with team members, clients, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution and delivery.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

    15 years of marketing and communications experience, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a global leadership role within a global products leader, preferably in the green building, renewables, commercial real estate or sustainability sectors.

    Current client-side leadership experience in a global products organization with a minimum of $75M in annual revenues, preferably in the green building, commercial real estate, sustainability or renewables sectors.

    Extensive experience managing global teams in a range of time zones and countries.

    Proven success in launching and scaling products in competitive markets. Experience with end-to-end product launches.

    Demonstrated experience in creating a full suite of sales enablement tools.

    Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data.

    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

    Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot or Marketo, and other analytics platforms.

    Familiarity with Agile or Lean product development processes.

    Ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.

    Preferred:

    Strong written and verbal communications skills, including effective presentation skills.

    Exceptional interpersonal skills including a high level of professionalism, empathy and respect for others, active listening, and building effective working relationships.

    • Collaborate with the Content Strategist to craft content aligned with campaign goals, audience needs, and SEO best practices.

    As the VP of Marketing, you will lead our marketing team as we continue to scale. We're seeking someone dynamic and strategic to lead our efforts across three distinct customer segments:

    What You'll Do

    The VP of Marketing will create and implement the company's marketing strategy for our three customer segments. This role will ensure organizational alignment to boost brand awareness, generate demand, and drive revenue growth. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Revenue, the VP of Marketing will be an essential part of the executive team and influence the company's direction.

    Strategic Leadership & Alignment

    Develop and oversee a multi-channel marketing strategy tailored to the unique needs of our customer segments. Work with the SVP of Revenue to support the go-to-market strategy for each segment, balancing brand-building efforts and demand generation. Serve as the voice of marketing to the executive team, collaborating with sales, product, customer success, and operations to align goals and strategies. Lead a process of efficient experimentation by prioritizing top challenges to solve, running MVP tests of different tactics, and then pivoting or scaling based on the outcome. Ensure marketing has the budget, tools, and team support to execute their strategies effectively. Partner with the SVP of Revenue and Revenue Operations to refine KPIs for each GTM segment and create reports and dashboards to ensure that marketing initiatives align with our revenue goals.

    Team Leadership and Development

    Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing marketing team, including Content Marketing, Brand Strategy & Public Relations, Demand Generation, and Product Marketing. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, data-driven experimentation, and accountability within the team.

    Brand and Messaging

    Establish compelling brand positioning that resonates with all three customer segments. Enhance and protect the company's brand reputation across all segments. Ensure success with high-profile initiatives such as product launches, industry events, conferences, and thought leadership campaigns. Align messaging across all marketing channels.

    Product Marketing

    Partner closely with the Product team to develop compelling go-to-market plans for new features and offerings. Manage the Enablement team to create tools and resources that support the sales team's success in each market. Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics across all segments. Use insights to inform positioning, pricing, and strategic priorities.

    What You'll Bring

    8+ years of marketing leadership experience, ideally in a B2B SaaS or technology-driven company. Proven success in leading multi-segment go-to-market strategies, including experience with mature and nascent markets. Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and scaling a high-performing marketing team. Deep expertise in demand generation, brand building, and product marketing. Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making and ROI. Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, both internally and externally. Hands-on experience in managing agencies, tools, and marketing technology stacks. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

    Preferred Experience

    Experience marketing to Commercial sectors - bonus if also experienced with Politics & Advocacy or Nonprofits. Familiarity with marketing analytics tools, CRM platforms, and marketing automation systems. Track record of successfully launching products or services in new markets.

    Hiring Process

    Phone Screen: (~30 minutes) This is a short interview with our Director of People to answer some behavioral and logistical questions and a chance for you to ask questions about the position and the company.

    Experience Interview (45 minutes): This will be an opportunity to share more about your professional background and the experience you have to step into this role.

    Behavioral Interview (50 minutes): This step involves a panel interview with team members and cross-functional peers. All candidates will be asked the same ~10 questions.

    Skills Exercise (50 minutes): This is a chance to demonstrate your skills. You will be asked to follow a prompt and present it to a panel of staff.

    Final Interview (~30 minutes): This is a final interview with the executive leadership.
