Job SummaryEnvironmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks that the individual will be responsible for include but not limited to; emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines. Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment; ability to apply this to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff. May be responsible for the following locations to clean but not limited to; patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met. Wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines. Keep storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. To maintain houses and equipment in good operating condition. Use a preventative maintenance program and keep production processes operating efficiently.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES-HOUSE MAINTENANCE** **:**
+ Responsible for following a preventative maintenance program.
+ Maintain all rod conveyors, cross collections, baffle systems, etc.
+ Responsible for maintaining equipment and houses as instructed by supervisor.
+ Need to work closely with supervisor and co-workers in all departments.
+ Collection and disposal of dead birds, do trash pick-up and fly control.

+ Operating the tunnel belt, incline belt, and sleds.
+ Cleaning out the transfer room and idler area bi-weekly or as needed.
+ Maintaining manure shed equipment (ex, greasing, gear boxes, cables, rollers)
+ Watching the belts as they run to make sure there are no torn belts or tracking issues.
+ Immediately notify affected employees if the tunnel or manure shed needs to be shut down because of an issue
+ Responsible at all times for following and enforcing the Bio-Security Policy.
+ Responsible for maintaining payloader and other manure handling equipment.
+ Operate tractor, spreader, honey wagon and water wagon

This position is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the NFS Transportation/Waste Management (T/WM) programs are compliant with federal and state waste regulations. + Interface with on-site waste generators to develop solutions to technical problems associated with T/WM.

+ Review and approve work requests, procedures, and drawings detailing proposed process changes and determine waste characterization, packaging, storage and disposal strategies. Waste streams included are RCRA, low level radioactive waste, mixed waste, PCB waste, and sanitary waste.
+ Develop/revise waste characterization document.
+ Prepare sampling and analysis plans in accordance with EPA guidance documents and SW-846.
+ Interpret laboratory analytical data and characterize material for disposal in accordance with applicable regulations and disposal/treatment facilities waste acceptance criteria.

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, Environmental Science or related science, engineering, or technical field OR 8 years of equivalent experience acceptable in lieu of degree.

Leidos has an opening for a **Waste Management Technician** **at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland Ohio.** The **Waste Management Technician** will support the Waste Management and Environmental teams and spill response program.
The **Waste Management Technician** will ensure proper management of hazardous materials, including the completion and review of waste profiles for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulated hazardous waste, universal wastes, used oils, and infectious waste; TSCA regulated asbestos-containing materials, and PCBs. Role will include sampling of environmental media for characterization, stormwater management, Underground Storage Tank inspections, spill response, review of property and equipment for hazards prior to disposal, and DOT transportation services.
**Must be available to work a flexible schedule and be on call.**
**Must be able to pass a Public Trust background investigation. U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent. Residence is required due to length of investigation required for non-U.S. persons.**

+ Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
+ Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
+ Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
+ Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
+ Demonstrated leadership skills.
+ Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
+ Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
