A respected heavy civil contractor is seeking an experiencedEstimator . This is a strategic opportunity for professionals who are skilled in preparing competitive bids and cost models for large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
Role Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate, well-structured proposals for water and utility infrastructure projects. Working closely with preconstruction and project leadership teams, this role ensures each estimate is compliant, competitive, and aligned with overall project goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and documentation
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing
- Coordinate large, multidisciplinary estimates with internal teams
- Build comprehensive scopes of work and cost models
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
- Prepare risk assessments and bid strategy documentation
- Support project handoff and post-bid buyouts
- Develop conceptual through fully detailed estimates
- Understand project logistics and construction sequencing
- Ensure alignment with diversity and local hiring requirements when applicable
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years estimating experience in civil construction
- At least 3 years with a construction-related degree preferred (Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical or Geoengineering)
- Background in projects exceeding 30 million in scale
- Proficiency with tools such as HCSS, OST, Bluebeam, or equivalent
- Solid understanding of construction methods, labor markets, and engineering principles

Your Opportunity
You will contribute to design work for projects of varying size and complexity under the guidance of a Senior Electrical Engineer and/or Designer. As an Engineer in Training, you will be responsible for applying basic knowledge and general engineering concepts to size, evaluate, select, and specify electrical power, lighting and/or auxiliary systems for use on assigned projects. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include conducting field investigations, preparing design calculations, assisting with product research, and developing design drawings. #ElectricalH2O
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
- Performs electrical design using knowledge of relevant software programs.
- Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer and/or designer.
- Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer and/or designer.
- Performs basic calculations to analyze and design electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
- Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Understanding of AutoCad, and the use of it as an electrical design tool.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers / Designers.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 0-3 years experience
- Co-op / internship experience preferred.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying
Typical office environment, working with computers and drawings for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to hazards including construction, weather, and industrial operations that may be experienced at water and/or wastewater related facilities.
