**Job Description:**
The Private Wealth Strategist, part of Merrill's Strategic Wealth Advisory Group, works with UHNW individuals and families to provide objective insights aimed at aligning financial and estate strategies with their goals. This is a highly visible position within Merrill Private Wealth Management (PWM) that works closely with Merrill advisors and PWM management in the assigned territories. The role partners with Merrill Advisors in client solicitation efforts and generating wealth transfer strategies for our UHNW clients and prospects. Manage and prepare Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) financial and estate plans using their background and strong technical planning expertise to enhance client retention, drive positive client outcomes, and significantly contribute to impact revenue. Working with multi-generational, complex client and prospect families, provide planning subject matter expertise in conjunction with Wealth Advisors to leverage and source internal and external resources and centers of influence (COIs) to acquire new clients. Complete complex diagnostic and review of financial and estate planning documents and circumstances leading to a comprehensive analysis, diagnosis and solution presentation in conjunction with the wealth and field teams. Success is measured against the ability to positively impact clients, the Truist Wealth organization and Truist overall through the effective delivery of advice and planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1a. Expertise: Broad knowledge across all Elements of Wealth, subject matter expert (SME) and thought leader in one or more specific knowledge area within the Elements of Wealth related to complex financial planning concepts and be a resource for the advice and planning group in that area. 1b. Impact: Leads complex, UHNW multi-generational wealth planning and strategy, typically with families with assets under management at Truist of $25MM and above. Partners with internal and external centers of influence to attract, grow and retain UHNW client relationships. Leads and is primarily responsible for proactive and comprehensive advice around the Elements of Wealth including wealth transfer tax planning, income tax planning, capital sufficiency analysis, charitable planning, asset protection, executive benefits and business owner planning.
2. Advice Process Excellence: Proven ability to effectively execute the financial planning and advice process: identify and prioritize goals and objectives, gather data, analyze current course and potential alternative courses of action, developing and presenting recommendations, partnering for implementation and monitoring progress.
3. Process Adherence: Execute planning engagements with Truist Wealth clients and prospects in compliance with all internal policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and legal guidelines. Identifies at risk situations and keeps appropriate team members and management informed.
4. Technology: Maintain proficiency in all planning software as well as company systems in order to not only analyze a client's needs but to efficiently determine the most advantageous outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

*WEALTH STRATEGIST CNR*
*WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?*
This position is responsible for expanding City National Rochdale's (CNR) relationships with its high ultra-high net-worth (UHNW**) clients. Helps to attract new prospective clients to CNR by partnering with field business development officers. Support Sr Wealth Strategist and Wealth Strategist team in the development of HNW and UHNW client facing materials in the areas of Estates and Trusts, Income Taxation, Philanthropy, and Asset Protection, and Investments, with an emphasis on business owner wealth and succession planning.
*WHAT WILL YOU DO?*
* Work with Sr. Wealth Strategist and Wealth Strategist in developing integrated estate and financial plans for U/HNW clients through partnering with colleagues and COIs. Assist in setting the agenda for the wealth planning process and the process of implementing the solutions. In collaboration with the Wealth Strategist team analyze client's current situation, identify future life-changing events, understand client's family dynamics, and educate clients on tax risks. May work with clients to understand their specific goals and objectives to provide solutions to meet their needs.
* Partner with Strategy team to develop comprehensible explanations of sophisticated wealth planning strategies in areas of interest to UHNW clients.
* Submit for peer review all client-facing custom designed output.
* Support the Wealth Strategy team by developing sophisticated reports/dashboards and making other changes to support their business reporting and other operational needs using Salesforce (within the permission allowed by the Saleforce COE).
* Peer review client-facing custom designed output from other Sr. Wealth Strategist.
* Participate in routine third-party audits of all material subject to peer review.
* Partner with Strategy team to create understandable, customized strategy explanations that are consistent across the enterprise and of high quality.
* Participate and/or lead client meetings and work within a team environment to deliver integrated planning services to clients.
* Keep abreast of legislative and tax changes.
* Participate in the sales process to grow revenue by calling on prospective clients in conjunction with the Strategy team.
* Enhance existing relationships and reduce attrition by participating in designing integrated wealth plans that enhance the value that banking colleagues bring to their relationships.
* Raise awareness of proper channel alignment when confronted with a client/prospect that is more appropriately served by another line of business.
* Cultivate and maintain relationships with COI's directly and in partnership with colleagues.
* Participate in client and community events.
* Participate in the preparation for sponsored events regarding wealth planning information and issues that are relevant and compelling for that particular audience.
* Collaborate with marketing and training to prepare written and oral presentations to support educational programs for colleagues, clients and prospective clients.
* Write articles on timely topics of wealth planning that can be distributed to clients or marketing materials to CNR's clients, prospects, and COIs.
*WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?*
*Required Qualifications**
* Bachelor's Degree
* Minimum 8 years of financial planning or related experience
* Minimum 8 years of experience within Banking, Brokerage, or Insurance culture
* CFP - Certified Financial Planner credential or the ability to obtain within 24 months of employment
* CEPA - Certified Exit Planning Advisor credential, or the ability to obtain within 18 months of employment
*Additional Qualifications*
* Advanced Degree (JD or CPA or Masters in Tax/Accounting/Business) helpful
* Ability to travel up to 20%
* Demonstrable expertise in multiple areas such as: Portfolio design; transfer tax; life insurance; income tax; retirement funding (qualified and non-qualified); captive insurance; legacy trusts
* Demonstrable expertise in the use of financial modeling systems such as eMoney, NaviPlan, WealthStation, or the like
* Demonstrable proficiency in Salesforce
* Stay current on cutting edge wealth planning solutions while retaining the ability to explain and implement those solutions in an easy to understand manner
* Demonstrable expertise in Team-Based (multi-disciplinary) wealth planning
* Demonstrable expertise in multiple wealth planning issues (e.g., portfolio construction, life insurance, transfer taxation, business succession, etc.)
* Demonstrable expertise at easily explaining complex strategies to clients and COIs; and quickly identifies and pursues to a successful sale Bank product or service solutions that align with the best interest of the client.
* Presentation skills
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
* Outstanding Word, Excel, and PowerPoint creation abilities

*Compensation*Starting base salary: $122,535 - $208,715 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
