Job Responsibilities:

The Welding Technician is responsible for the welding operations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform TIG welding, soldering, torch brazing and assembly operations.
• Knowledge of metals and weld / braze compatibilities.
• Common materials to weld: Aluminums, Copper, Stainless Steels, Steels, Kovar.
• Common thicknesses to weld: 18GA, 1/16”, 1/8”, 1/4”.
• Common material to solder / braze: Copper, Brass.
• Perform necessary inspection, grinding, blasting, cleaning, leak detection and testing.
• Assist with welding, brazing and soldering quotes.
• Able to read and interpret schematics, blueprints and any other technical documentation.
• Assist with creation of work instructions when required.
• Enter and record quality data into appropriate systems.
• Able to fill paperwork such as travelers or any other forms required.
• Participate in lean and continuous improvement activity.
• Participate in Inventory management system and material disposition efforts.
• Cross train and flex in different departments are needed.

Set up robotic and resistance welders for production of parts; assist with operation of equipment to run production if necessary. Troubleshoot machine problems & assist with their resolution. Program teach pendant on robotic welders. Perform & help develop all preventive maintenance tasks and schedules. Determine need for tooling maintenance and work with internal toolroom or outside vendors to accomplish maintenance and weld line requirements. Check quality of parts produced as well as confirm documentation and computer entries regarding quality, piece count and traceability. Perform, assist and train if needed with initial inspection to assure quality of parts produced. Maintain safety and 5S requirements.

Requirements:

Must have prior robotic and/or resistance welding experience, possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to lead others. Basic PLC proficiency preferred with Siemens or Allen Bradley software. Experience with MotoMan and/or OTC equipment is a plus. HS diploma/GED required. Advanced welding training preferred. Must be able to work OT as needed, including weekends.

**Qualifications:**
+ Associate's Degree or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
+ Capability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
+ Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for precise welding and joining tasks.
**Desired Qualification & Skills:**
+ Proficiency in various welding techniques, particularly TIG welding, and familiarity with brazing and heat treatment.
+ Strong understanding of aerospace materials, such as stainless steel, inconel, titanium, and other alloys.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
+ Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
