We are currently seeking a Welding Technician at our Bakers facility in Monroe, NC. As a welding technician you will perform welding procedures including production part construction, cleaning, drying and inspection to meet customer specification and quality requirements. You will weld production parts by TIG or ARC, and crimp, cut and butter weld parts as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Weld production parts, by TIG or ARC, to meet quality standard(s) ensuring that parts will maintain weld integrity through outgassing and HIP. Perform complex or routine tasks related to welding practices.
- Complete welding projects throughout the facility as required by plant engineering or maintenance.
- Crimp, cut and butter weld parts as required.
- Leak check and weld repair parts as required. Prep and clean welds as required to ensure quality weld.
- Determine necessary machines and/or equipment to be used in successfully completing welding assignments. Interpret blueprints, drawings or weld procedures.
- Visually inspect and properly document all welding activity as required by process standards.
- Interpret previous data in order to establish successful weld parameters for new designs and shapes. Suggest process improvements or revisions.
- Maintain welding equipment in proper working order and keep records of maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain inventories of all welding supplies and gasses.
- Maintain good housekeeping by keeping work areas clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards and taking care of tools and equipment through 5S implementation.
- Adhere to company safety policies by attending mandatory safety meetings, developing safe work habits and providing suggestions for a safer workplace.
- Operate a crane or fork truck as needed.
- Assist with can purge when needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of TIG welding experience
Skills:
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in TIG welding
- Must achieve customer welding qualification
- Strong communication skills
- Strenuous physical activity required for extended periods including lifting or carrying objects weighing fifty (50) pounds or more
- Must have passed Respirator Protection screening

Position Overview: The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in various welding techniques, with a strong focus on GMAW (MIG). Responsibilities will include interpreting assembly drawings, following work instruction sequences, application of WPS's, ensuring the quality and integrity of welded components, and completing tasks within specified timelines. Attention to detail, a commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
+ Assemble and weld metal components, including carbon steel, carbon steel to stainless steel, and stainless steel, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications
+ Prepare joints before fit-up and welding, utilizing power tools such as grinders, sanders, and die grinders, or approved solvents to remove contaminants
+ Follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) for assigned workstations, verifying welding parameters, wire (electrode) size and type, and required shielding gas
+ Demonstrate proficiency in plasma arc or air carbon arc gouging systems for back-gouging welded root prior to completing full penetration joints
+ Position and clamp workpieces accurately, following detailed sequence procedure instructions, and tack components using appropriate tacks based on material thicknesses and joint types
+ Weld proficiently in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions as required
+ Utilize weld inspection tools, tape measures, calipers, etc., to confirm fit-up dimensions, part and joint alignment, and finished weld sizes
+ Clean and inspect completed welds for correct size and adherence to specified acceptance criteria
+ Repair improperly welded components or defective welds according to specified repair procedures
+ Effectively communicate assembly issues to management and engineering, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
+ Participate actively in Process Improvement activities to enhance productivity and quality standards
+ Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area on a daily basis, ensuring a safe and efficient workspace
Qualifications:
Required:
+ High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school
+ 7 or more years of experience with GMAW, GTAW, and/or Resistance Spot Welding
+ Must be able to pass multiple in-house weld certification tests
+ Must have normal eyesight either with or without corrective eyeglasses should be able to distinguish colors.
+ Must be medically qualified to work.
+ Work may require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, climbing and welding in hard to reach places.
+ May handle objects in excess of 50 pounds and must have reasonable use of fingers and hands.
Recommended:
+ Associates or certificate from accredited welding school is preferred
+ Previous experience with American Welding Society (AWS) standards is preferred
+ Should be able to distinguish colors.
+ Understanding oral and written Spanish highly desirable

Position Summary:
The robotic welding technician will use MIG/TIG welding equipment in accordance with internal and customer specifications, welding stainless and carbon steel. This position is also responsible for supporting the QA team with part layouts and inspection. This position will also assist in the design, development and implementation of production fixturing, and operate and recover welding robots for all phases of production.
Essential Job Functions:
- Set up welders, weld and troubleshoot basic GTAW and GMAW mild steel joints, based on knowledge of weld symbols and materials
- Perform 1st piece table layouts
- Change and troubleshoot programs to make offsets on work piece to ensure good welds
- Set up, calibrate, program, maintain and troubleshoot robotic welders, with feedback from CMM reports
- Package parts for shipping
- Complete job documentation
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED, vocational training
CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: forklift operator’s license preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 year’s experience welding in a manufacturing environment
