Job Summary:

The HR Advisor is primarily responsible for building, nurturing and sustaining strong partnerships with supervisors and leadership as well as managing the human resources functions for the location. Supports the administration of and adherence to HR activities including recruiting/hiring, performance management, engagement survey, benefits enrollment, training, and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Pursues professional growth and provides developmental opportunities for others by soliciting and acting on performance feedback; building collaborative, cross-functional relationships; hiring, training, and developing talent for growth opportunities; fostering open dialogue amongst associates; working closely with associates to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to drive performance improvement. May delegate tasks and decisions in situations where they are supervising the role of the HR Coordinator.
  • Collaborates with leadership, HRBPs, and HR COEs as necessary to address performance issues and performance trends of associates in locations. Diagnoses potential issues at the individual and associate levels. Recommends and executes solutions to address issues and ensures performance and developmental gaps are addressed.
  • Partners with supervisors in the planning process to drive business results, optimize customer service and align with company values. Contributes to the development of people strategies that support business strategies and objectives and help to drive business and organizational performance.
  • Executes delegated work stream to meet customer and business needs by translating business plans into tactical action items; communicating goals and objectives; overseeing work assignments; aligning team efforts; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; assuming responsibility for decision making.
  • For situations in which the HR Coordinator reports to the role, the HR Advisor will supervise and direct the work. Additionally, the role may also provide the following administrative duties to promote the interests of the building in the absence of the HR Coordinator: Manages HR related controllable expenses for the facility and ensures financial records are accurate and current. Works with site leadership to support worker compensation claims and recordkeeping. Drives associate engagement by supporting the Lowe's engagement survey process and encouraging associate participation. Assists as needed in the new associate onboarding

Required Qualifications:

  • High School or GED
  • 4 years experience in a Human Resources function

The salary range for this role is $100,000-$120,000 USD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Job Summary:

This individual is the primary contact for inquiries relative to interpreting HR policies, procedures, and programs for all Associates and Managers. First responder, via e-mail, telephone and other communication channels for all HR related inquiries, HR investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations or other Employee Relations matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Responds to telephone and email inquiries, and SpeakUp Reports from all Associates regarding employee relations matters by: Interpreting and explaining company policies (e.g. disciplinary guidelines, performance management, benefits), procedures, practices, and programs; referring questions and issues to Payroll or Benefits Help Desks when questions and issues are outside of the scope of HR policy explanation; acting as intermediary between Associates and the Payroll or Benefits Help Desks when Associates escalate unresolved benefits and payroll issues to HR.

  • Providing guidance to managers in handling difficult or complex employee relations issues and in resolving complaints or disputes, such as advising managers on appropriate disciplinary actions and procedures to ensure consistency; and providing risk assessments for terminations.

  • Investigating issues and providing resolution on the following: complaints about working conditions, disciplinary actions, Associate and applicant appeals, alleged wrongful terminations, harassment and discrimination allegations, or other HR related matters.

  • Researching complaints from Associates about all salary/wage treatments (e.g. merit increases, promotions, demotions, adjustments) when issues are not resolved through the standard processes in accordance to policy. Contacts operations on all discrepancies as appropriate to ensure compliance.

  • Providing advice to managers on reductions in force, position eliminations, and layoffs to ensure proper policies and procedures are followed.

  • Consults with the HR Service Center's in-house Legal Counsel as needed to obtain advice on problem resolution. Escalates issues as appropriate to Field HR Consultants for investigation and resolution.

  • May assist with follow-up on SS# mismatch issues.

  • May work on special projects, both independently and as part of a team.

  • Bilingual HR Advisor may assist with translation of investigative documentation from Spanish to English, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or equivalent degree, or equivalent related experience.

  • Two (2) + years experience as an HR representative/generalist in a large company or supporting a line Business Unit.

  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred.

  • Strong computer skills including ability to perform queries in SAP, generate reports, perform web-based research, and create case management files in HR software.

  • Working knowledge of employment labor law in multiple states.

  • Proven ability to:

  • -Research topics on the Internet and through other available resources.

  • -Manage priorities and workflow.

  • -Work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.

  • -Work effectively in an unstructured, fast-paced and P&L driven environment.

Job Summary

The HR Advisor is responsible for providing human resource services and consulting to multiple clients across a variety of industries. The role involves conducting an initial HR audit and working with our clients to identify best practice recommendations as well as working to drive up efficiency with the isolved technology our clients use.

The HR Advisor will partner with clients to understand their business and related needs, analyze existing systems, review interface requirements, examine business processes, and help implement appropriate solutions. Key Responsibilities
  • Helps to complete initial HR Compliance audit with clients (potentially onsite)
  • Participates in the development of a strategic HR Action plan, and works with the client to drive those action items to completion
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and changes in human resources legislation, and helps proactively communicate those changes to our clients
  • Leverages tools and resources to provide templates, tools, and support to clients with a sense of urgency
  • Serves as a point of contact with multiple, concurrent new clients during the implementation process and comfortable with project management
  • Coordinates a customized Benefits/ACA/HCM platform (when applicable) in coordination with other services sold and collaborates with other departments, as necessary
  • Serves as a consultative resource for clients to help them better utilize products and features
  • Communicates professionally both internally with other departments and externally with clients/vendors regarding action items and projects
  • Comfortable in client-facing situations to help with various stages of the implementation and/or training clients face to face (if necessary)
  • Focuses heavily on accuracy and attention to detail for work completed while acting with a sense of urgency to help meet internal/external deadlines

This is what we are looking for:
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a general Human Resources/Consulting expertise or capacity
  • Proficient in the latest web technologies and working knowledge of various operating systems
  • Excellent analytical skills and time management skills and ability to work both independently to provide solutions to the client and as part of a team to accomplish tasks
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with client facing experience
  • Comfortable onsite with clients face to face for meetings and/or presentations if necessary

Training & Onboarding

After the initial onboarding and iSolved University courses, new hires will undergo 1:1 training with your manager, job shadowing with experienced Senior HR Advisors and a gradual weekly introduction to tools.

Each HR Advisor has book of business 30-35 clients, controls their schedule, but has a combination of proactively driving client meetings/projects and reactive availability for clients if/when issues come up.

You will provide support to Abcam associates throughout their entire employee journey, as well as contributing to evolving HR policy and supporting in the delivery of ad hoc employee relations related projects.

This position reports to the Director of Employee Relationship & HR Policy and is part of the Human Resources Team located in Waltham, MA and will be an on-site role. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Act as a reference point and a supportive and consistent contact for associates throughout their whole journey within Abcam
  • Provide specialist advice to managers and employees on all employee relations issues, managing associated case work and supporting the delivery of ER related projects across the US sites.
