Recovery Support Professional Responsibilities:

Recovery Support Professionals work directly with clients in our treatment programs and report to the Recovery Support Supervisor (or other deemed supervisor) at their facility. Your role is vital to the success of our clients in treatment. Your attention and focus help provide a structured environment that is critical in maintaining early recovery. You are their lifeline and their support. You help our clients maintain healthy boundaries and listen when they are struggling. Your energy, passion, and motivation are sometimes what keeps people from giving up on their treatment - and themselves.

Your responsibilities in this role may include :

1. Screen and process new admissions. Take head counts during hourly runs. Document hourly runs and client movement in communication log.
2. Screen clients' personal belongings upon entry to the facility, monitor client movement in and out of the facility, and account for their whereabouts. Maintain and monitor client sign-out book.
3. Coordinate in-house activities based on the program's schedule which could include chores, breaks, exercise time, leisure time and visitations.
4. Maintain accurate daily census, know where clients are on the floor, and report infractions and incidents to appropriate staff.
5. Conduct client orientation sessions, seminars, and morning meetings as directed.
6. May need to transport or assist clients traveling to and from medical and/or other appointments.
7. Conduct and document room searches and perform random searches of clients as directed by program supervisor.
8. Deny access to unauthorized persons.
9. Supervise, where appropriate, clients taking their medications.
10. Perform regular room checks to make sure clients are on floors or in their rooms per program schedule.
11. Follow protocol for reporting unauthorized absences.
12. Monitor urinalysis/drug screening and breathalyzers as instructed by supervisor on duty.
13. Monitor daily program activities in addition to meals and medication line.
14. Tour the facility at regular intervals to check building security and ensure there are no fire or safety hazards in accordance with program and regulatory policies. Conduct fire drills and safety checks, including safety and security of the facility, checking fire extinguishers, first aid kits and Narcan availability.
15. Ensure vehicles are kept clean and complete weekly vehicle inspections.
16. Ensure facility cleanliness and safety through the regular inspection of sanitation procedures, including pest control, the storage of supplies and clients' belongings, and submission of work orders for any needed repairs.
17. Ensure property maintenance related to inclement weather, including shoveling, salting, and de-icing walkways and vehicles, as directed.
18. Complete written reports, documentation, and electronic incident reports as required.
19. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Driving Requirements:

• This position requires that you have a valid driver's license in good standing and meet the following criteria.

  • Not more than 2 moving violations or reportable accidents within the past three years.

Availability:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder clients and those that support co-occurring clients such as mental health clinicians, primary care providers, managed care systems and other health workers in a counseling center, wellness center, community setting or criminal justice setting. Position Summary

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Performs assigned clerical duties in the clinic
• Monitors the Blood Pressure Desk

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full time related work experience in conducting health education, promotion and/or outreach (student experience may be considered). Experience working with a college or university population or with emerging adults.

Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Public Health, Higher Education, Social Work or related field. **Brief Description of Duties:**
The Health Education Specialist will use a data-driven and evidence-informed approach to deliver comprehensive outreach and health education programming. This role encompasses large scale and group-based outreach, peer education and supervision, collaboration with campus and community partners, and professional development.
The incumbent plays a crucial role as a team member within the overall campus health and wellness departments. + Coordinate, implement and assess evidence-based health education programming for the campus community through collaborative, attractive, large scale events including but not limited to:
+ Awareness month/week/day programming such as Overdose Awareness Day, Suicide Prevention Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, STI Awareness Week and Alcohol Awareness Month.
+ Be Well Fest - a yearly event aimed at recognizing patient appreciation and increasing knowledge around the on-campus health and wellness resources available to students.
+ Health and Wellness Fairs - semesterly fairs that provide students an opportunity to learn about and meet campus and community providers / resources they can use to address their health and wellness.
+ New Student Orientation - assist in coordinating and implementing all aspects of the required and optional health education programming for new students.
+ This position is based on Stony Brook University's main (West) campus but will require occasional work/travel to the East (hospital) and Southampton campuses as the position serves all Stony Brook students. Travel to regional, state or national professional development opportunities and/or training may also be required at times.
**Smaller Scale / Group Health Education & Outreach Programming**
+ Provide the campus community with tabling, training and workshops tailored for college students and their health needs. This will require extensive collaboration with student clubs and organizations and professional staff from departments across the University.
+ Workshops - create, implement and assess educational workshops, both stand alone and series, that address topics such as healthy screen use, mental health, safer sex, alcohol, cannabis, problem gambling, sexual assault prevention and survivor support.
+ Trainings - assist in coordinating and conducting bystander intervention training for students, faculty and staff including but not limited to Red Watch Band, Green Dot, QPR, CPR and Narcan/Naloxone.

**Health Communication**

ASSIGNMENT SUMMARY

The Enrollment & Outreach Specialist will conduct brief health education/awareness and outreach contacts and encounters in the office. Patient facing roles require bilingual proficiency. **Overall Responsibilities**

**Working Conditions**
