ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
The LA Conservation Corps ("the Corps") is a private, non-profit organization that has helped young adults develop themselves since 1986. To date, more than 20,000 young people have participated in the Corps classes and service projects, learning new skills while contributing to the quality of life for residents of the greater Los Angeles area.
MISSION
The primary mission of the LA Conservation Corps is to provide young adults with opportunities for success through job skills training, education and work experience with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator implements the mission of the LA Conservation Corps by using his/her leadership skills to develop the educational and work skills of Corpsmembers, enabling them to advance in their own personal and career opportunities. The Program Coordinator accomplishes this mission by supervising and leading crew supervisors who are responsible for the immediate supervision and development of Corpsmembers. The Program Coordinator also ensures that the communities served receive the highest quality natural resources and conservation projects. Other duties assigned, as needed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
COMPLIANCE
- Is accountable for establishing a safe working environment where no industrial injuries occur that can be attributed to negligence, carelessness, and/or inappropriate safety practices
- Conducts regular program meetings to ensure that operations and program goals are being met.
- Participates in weekly management team meetings.
- Works and communicates with program sponsors, local Community Based Organizations (CBO's), and other public and private agencies to guarantee scheduled goals are met.
- Assists Manager and Director in managing program activities and the overall management of annual budgets for assigned programs.
- Helps develop specific program/project budgets and manage associated fiscal resources.
- Enters and monitors contracts budgets (via ABM) periodically to ensure appropriate expenditures are within contract guidelines.
- Responsible for supervising individuals who report to this position.
- Responsible for program deliverables, goals, and outcomes.
- Appropriates human and material resources to ensure the projects are completed successfully and within the budget.
- Works in conjunction with the Senior Program Manager to secure necessary resources for proper department functionality
- Oversees the advanced monthly scheduling of work crews to insure a seamless flow of work for short, mid, and long term planning.
- Works with management to foster new funding and work contract opportunities. In conjunction with helping to develop cost estimates on work opportunities.
- Organize, plan, and set systems to help meet project goals, including project deadlines, data collection and submit reports.
- Help manage vehicle fleet by scheduling and tracking vehicle maintenance.
- Utilize available resources/platforms such as ArcGIS, Paycom and other programs to simplify and improve operations. Attend the day-to-day logistical operations such as tracking attendance, rolling out crews, reviewing payroll and among other responsibilities as needed.
- Ensures staff and programs meet departmental and program goals.
- Ensures Corpsmember development by working with the management team to develop Corpsmembers both personally and professionally on the work site.
- Provides support in the area of Corpsmember training in conjunction with Corpsmember.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.

8. Based on area of assignment may assist in the maintenance and preservation of confidential health documents including scanning into electronic patient health information systems.

Escorts patients, visitors and employees when required for security purposes. Participates in security lead training designed for staff.
4. Maintains current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Performs "citizen arrest" and demonstrate critical thinking skills during extremely stressful situations as needed.
5. Appropriately and effectively utilizes assigned non-lethal weapon according to policy and training.
6. Investigates and completes written reports of complaints, critical security incidents and unusual activities involving patients, employees and visitors. Maintains an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift.
7. Professionally testifies in criminal court, state hearings and review boards when required.
8. Based on area of assignment may assist in the maintenance and preservation of confidential health documents including scanning into electronic patient health information systems.
9. Position reports directly to the Security Supervisor, or OIC in their absence. This position interacts internally with staff, physicians, visitors, volunteers and patients. External customers are law enforcement agencies and emergency service agencies. The position is system wide and officers may be assigned to work at any facility as needed. This position will provide guidance and direction to staff, visitors and patients during a security emergency. This position will be required to proactively identify, deter and respond to security incidents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must maintain required security certifications. Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
Must possess the ability to make accurate observations and exercise good independent judgment in a variety of situations (including emergencies). Must demonstrate the ability to write comprehensive security reports. Must successfully complete all required security departmental training, including department specific annual training and mandatory training as assigned. Must successfully complete Banner Health Basic Officer Academy. Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times and must possess strong verbal communications skills. Must qualify and maintain proficiency with assigned non-lethal weapons. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform physical requirements of the position. Capabilities will be demonstrated through the successful completion of similarly related skills testing. Employees hired on or after January 1, 2019 will need to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements before starting in the role. Employees hired before January 1, 2019 must be able to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements by December 31, 2019. If upon initial evaluation, an employee is unable to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements, there will be a quarterly assessment administered. This physical skills assessment will then be conducted on an annual basis and employees must successfully meet the requirements to remain in role.
Employees must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer prior law enforcement, military, Corrections, healthcare or advance security experience.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
