Freedom Hospice needs volunteers throughout the DFW Metroplex including Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Richardson, Allen, Frisco, Keller, Southlake, Colleyville, Cleburne, Aledo, and all points between! Cheers on Wheels volunteers will have the opportunity to bring smiles and joy to hospice patients' lives by delivering balloon bouquets to patients on their birthday. They will also have the opportunity to deliver comfort to families in the form of a meal either prior to a loved one's death when families are gathering to sit vigil with the patient, or after the death when families are gathering for the funeral.
This would be the perfect opportunity for college students wanting to make a difference within short intervals of time. Deliveries could be made between classes!

A Day in the Life of a Meals on Wheels Driver at RW Solutions:
- Start your shift by reporting to our headquarter office in New Britain, CT to pick up the delivery route from your supervisor; which includes a list of addresses and special notes for each stop.
- Package the meals needed for the delivery route - making sure everything is packed securely and ready for safe transport.
- Use our Meals on Wheels van to deliver meals with care-knock, greet warmly, hand off the food, and check in with the person. You might be the only friendly face they see all day.
- Be a source of comfort and connection. You're trained to spot any concerns and communicate them back to your team.
- Stay in touch with your coordinator for updates or if anything unexpected comes up during your route.
- Wrap up the da:;y by returning containers, reporting any issues, and completing delivery records.

What You'll Need:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience as a delivery driver (e.g., food, packages, ride-share)
- Experience working in a customer service related position.

Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Must be able to lift and carry insulated meal bags, coolers, and supplies weighing up to 25 lbs, multiple times per shift.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, and climbing stairs while delivering meals to homes or apartments.
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle for extended periods (up to several hours per day), often getting in and out of the vehicle repeatedly during a shift.
- Use of hands and arms for loading meals, handling food containers, and operating vehicle controls.
- Must be comfortable driving and walking in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold.
- Will enter a range of home settings that may include: stairs or uneven walkways, pets, varying levels of cleanliness or clutter, and possible exposure to secondhand smoke, strong odors, or allergens.
- Occasionally exposed to traffic noise, GPS instructions, or other interruptions while on the road.
- May interact with clients who are lonely, ill, or in distress. Must be comfortable offering empathy while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Position Summary: Drives and maintains a vehicle used to deliver meals to homebound elders. Transports a team of delivers to complete all meal deliveries for their assigned routes within an established time frame. The Meals on Wheels driver is also responsible for an individual meal delivery route.
Schedule: Between Monday through Friday (20-29 hours per week)
Hourly Rate: 20.00
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
• Picks-up and delivers meals to homebound seniors.
• Picks-up and drops-off Delivery staff on the designated route.
• Observe client and their surrounding area; report concerns as needed.
• Keeps vehicles clean and in good operating condition, assist with the oversight of maintenance of vehicle.
• Inspects vehicles daily and reports any operational or structural defects immediately.
• Reviews vehicle documentation to ensure inspections, registration and insurance information is up-to-date.
• Maintains accurate daily log of meal deliveries and contributions collected.
• Assists in scheduling meal deliveries to minimize time and distance between delivery.
• Keeps daily gasoline and mileage records.
• Picks-up and returns vehicles to garage or parking place daily.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma is preferred
• A valid NYS Driver's License.
• 2 or more years of driving experience in NYC or high traffic areas.
• No more than 1 moving violation in 24 months.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to an aging population.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work either Thanksgiving of Christmas Day.
