**Job Description**
**AECOM** ?is seeking a **Wildlife Biologist - field focus** to support some of California's most exciting and important projects. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our group of more than 100 environmental professionals in the Bay Area. This position will join our AECOM team based in the Oakland office.
This position would support a variety of projects and clients in northern California, with a focus on field assessments and surveys, construction monitoring, and technical writing.
**The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:**
+ Surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds.
+ Monitoring of construction activities for compliance with environmental requirements and/or permits.
+ Preparation of reports documenting survey or monitoring results.
+ Preparation of other technical documents or permit applications.
+ Participation as an active and positive member of AECOM's Environmental Planning and Permitting practice in the SF Bay Area.
+ Occasional travel in Central and Northern California may be required.

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree in biology, Ecology, or a related field.
+ 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in construction monitoring, environmental inspection, habitat assessments, and biological surveys.
+ Valid U.S. Driver License is required for this position.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 4+ years of relevant experience.
+ Knowledgeable about common and special-status northern California wildlife species.
+ Experience surveying for special-status species that may occur in the San Francisco Bay Area, such as nesting birds, California red-legged frog, California tiger salamander, Alameda whipsnake, and others.
+ Plant identification skills are desirable but are not required.
+ Experience writing and preparing permit applications or other supporting technical documentation.
+ Experience with field data collection tools such as Collector, Trimble units, and others.
+ Has a positive attitude and is adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
**Additional Information**
+ Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $72,000.00 - $3,000.00.

CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. A Wildlife Biologist support position is available with The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands ( CEMML ) to assist and support the senior wildlife biologists at Fort Hunter Liggett ( FHL ), California. The CSU support team at FHL (8-10 employees) supports natural and cultural resources management. This is a field and office position that will support the implementation of a variety of projects identified in the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan ( INRMP ) for installation compliance. The successful candidate will be expected to have some expertise in species/groups of interest and to also have broad skills in nongame wildlife management. The focus of the program is endangered species and species of special concern and their habitats. Work location is at FHL in southern Monterey County, California. The base is approximately 30 minutes southwest of King City, and 50 minutes northwest of Paso Robles.
Within the Environmental program, CSU employees work under federal permits with vernal pool fairy shrimp, least Bell's vireo, arroyo toad and other listed species. Other species of interest are San Joaquin kit fox, California red-legged frog, purple amole, monarch butterfly, California condor, California tiger salamander, tricolored blackbird, western spadefoot, foothill yellow-legged frog, western pond turtle, burrowing owl, Chorro Creek bog thistle, little brown bat, southern rubber boa, California spotted owl, Santa Lucia mint, and caper-fruited tropidocarpum, along with surveys for breeding birds and bald and golden eagles. CSU employees are also active in the installation's game management and hunting program including elk, deer, feral pigs, upland game, and waterfowl. The wildlife biologist occasionally supports the FHL hunting program (e.g., working weekends) and assists with game surveys. The position also occasionally supports control of invasive exotic plants using mechanical or chemical methods.
Fort Hunter Liggett is an approximately 162,000-acre United States Army Reserve installation located in Monterey County, California. The installation is in the Santa Lucia Mountain Range of the outer South Coast Mountain ranges. Installation lands include annual and perennial grasslands, oak savannas and woodlands, mixed evergreen forest, coastal scrub and chaparral depending on the elevation and land history.
Required Job Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in the wildlife biology, ecology, or natural resource-related fields plus two or more years of professional experience OR Master's degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or natural resource-related field plus at least two years' professional experience in wildlife biology, research or management. Experience is in the areas of terrestrial and/or aquatic wildlife species, including biology, species habitat requirements, ecology with a focus on endangered species, game and fish species, non-game species, aquatic species and environments and habitat management.
+ Working knowledge of California or similar species and ecosystems (flora, fauna).
+ Experience applying various field survey methods for species and habitats.
+ Experience performing data management and quality control, summarizing and analyzing data, and producing summary reports.
+ The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
+ Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a California driver's license by the employment start date. Must maintain a valid driver's license and meet CSU standards for driving throughout the course of employment.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Experience working in teams.
+ Familiar with MSWord, Excel, and Access software.
+ Working knowledge of the Endangered Species Act and other environmental laws and regulations.
+ Subject matter expert ( SME ) in one or more of the following areas: Monarchs (greatly needed), Bats (greatly needed), Botany, Herpetology, Birds, Aquatic ecosystems and species.
+ Applied experience as a wildlife biologist in two or more of the areas listed above.
+ Experience with, and willingness to assist with, the collection of harvest and biological data collection during the open deer and elk hunting seasons as needed.
+ Experience with game/nongame projects, such as wood duck nest boxes (reproductive performance), invasive mussel surveys, and springs and guzzlers maintenance)
+ Working knowledge of the Endangered Species Act and other environmental laws and regulations.
+ Experience working with rare, threatened and/or endangered species in California.
+ Experience with Geographic Information Systems ( GIS ) including data entry and management, analysis, and map creation. Experience with Arc 10.x or ArcPro.

Stantec's Environmental Services team is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Wildlife Biologist to provide environmental field surveys, reporting, and permitting support for clients in the renewable energy, transportation, oil & gas, and other business sectors.
