Job Description
Role:
The Behavior Technician works to facilitate educational and behavioral services with children and adults with special needs and collaborates with school professionals and other behavioral specialists to achieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives.
Expectations:
- Must be able to build rapport with students and staff, as well as remain flexible and professional at all times
- Provide instructional and behavioral support as needed to the teacher and classroom staff
- Have a strong foundational knowledge of ABA principles (e.g. identifying functions of behavior, implementing preventative strategies, prompting functional communication)
- Be familiar with common data collection methods (e.g. frequency, duration)
- Be able to quickly review a student’s IEP or BIP for further guidance on individualized behavior management strategies and goals
- Utilize visual supports without being explicitly told (e.g. visual schedule, token board)
- Duties may include assisting students with toileting, bathroom routines, diaper/brief changing
Qualifications:
- 2+ years (preferred) as a Behavior Technician/Therapist/Interventionist
- 2+ years of ABA experience (preferred)
- Experience working with a range of behaviors (e.g. mild/moderate, moderate/severe)
- Minimum education requirement is a HS diploma
