**Job Description**
**AECOM** is seeking an experienced **Wireless Communications (RF) Engineer** for support of current and future projects. The successful candidate will be tasked with evaluating designing radio systems for clients in multiple industries, including Mass Transit, Power, Public Safety, and Law Enforcement. You will be working closely with other communications engineers and designers to evaluate and design RF and wireless solutions for our clients.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Demonstrate excellent grasp of computer modeling, deep knowledge of wireless network systems, and the ability to work as part of a team to ensure success as an RF engineer.
+ Accurately identify network issues and design systems that improve speed and coverage.
+ Use computer software to design RF installations for new wireless networks.

**Qualifications**
Minimum Requirements:
+ BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Professional Engineer license is required

+ Master's degree in engineering (Electrical, Information Systems, or other relevant discipline)

What You'll Do

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer specializing in Wireless Networking, you will be a focused on the Systems Engineering task of optimizing SimpliSafe's Wireless communications systems to optimize performance, resilience and power. You will be a critical contributor to our product development, focusing on the intricate world of IoT device connectivity. This role demands a profound understanding of not only wireless radio and communication stacks but also the entire networking stack, from the physical layer up to the application. You will be responsible for debugging complex issues and meticulously optimizing every layer of the network stack to achieve unparalleled performance, reliability, and power efficiency in our cutting-edge IoT and camera devices.

This is a hands-on role where you will dive deep into firmware, analyze network traffic, and collaborate closely with hardware, software, QA and cloud teams to deliver robust and highly optimized wireless solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Full Communications Stack Network Debugging & Optimization: Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity, throughput, latency, and reliability issues across the entire networking stack, from the wireless radio (PHY/MAC layers) through TCP/IP and up to the application layer on embedded IoT devices.
  • Protocol Implementation & Tuning: Implement, port, and optimize low power wireless (802.11, HaLow, Thread) and TCP/IP protocols to meet specific performance, power, and memory constraints of embedded systems.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct in-depth performance analysis of wireless and networking stacks, identifying bottlenecks and proposing innovative solutions for optimization (e.g., retransmission strategies, buffer management, concurrency, power management, scheduling).
  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform detailed root cause analysis of intermittent and hard-to-reproduce networking issues using advanced debugging techniques and tools.

Required Skills & Experience:

THE OPPORTUNITY

THE OPPORTUNITY
Silvus is seeking a **_Wireless Communication Systems Engineer_** to participate in all phases of wireless technology projects including planning, design, implementation, prototyping, verification, and validation. This position is on a hybrid schedule, a minimum of 3 days on-site per week is required. On-site days are the following: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Algorithmic development, simulation, implementation, and testing.
+ System performance simulation, benchmarking, and testing.
+ Fixed point modeling and FPGA design and verification support.
+ Support FPGA and Software development teams for hardware/software implementation and troubleshooting.
+ Setting and tracking development schedules and tasks.
+ Design and participate in lab and field testing and troubleshooting.
+ Technical material preparation and documentation.
+ As necessary, perform other related duties of which the above are representative.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ M.S. or Ph.D. in the field of wireless communications and signal processing, electrical engineering or a related field.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design and development of wireless systems.
+ Knowledge and experience with RF propagation and channel modeling.
+ Knowledge and experience with digital communication systems such as RF subsystems, synchronizations, channel estimation, channel coding, etc.
+ Knowledge about signal processing algorithms, MIMO, OFDM.
+ Experiences with fixed point modeling, implementation, and verification.
+ Expert in MATLAB programming and simulation.
+ Travel Requirements - Infrequent travel to support customer interactions or test and demonstration events.
+ Employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Experience in modeling and mitigating RF impairments to signals such as AGC, phase noise, frequency/clock offset, etc.
+ Wireless mobile ad-hoc networking, medium access, and routing algorithms.
+ Cognitive radio congested and contested spectrum and interference mitigation.
+ RF sensing, signal detection, and classification, etc.
+ Technical writing and presentation.

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Wireless Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support a global hardware conversion project from Cisco to Juniper Mist. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-impact initiative within a dynamic enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of a global migration from Cisco to Juniper Mist wireless infrastructure.
  • Support configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of Juniper Mist access points and wireless controllers.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure seamless transitions across global sites.
  • Maintain documentation of wireless network configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Provide Tier 1-2 support for wireless network-related issues during and after the migration.
  • Participate in testing and validation of new wireless designs and hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with security and operational standards throughout the conversion process.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in wireless network engineering.

  • Basic experience with Cisco Wireless Lan Controllers
  • Basic familiarity with Arista EOS and network devices.

  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Skills:
