REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Proficient knowledge of related wireless industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, 802.11 variants, Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols. Proficient knowledge in wireless network design, wireless network architecture, protocols and wireless network topology. 
Proficient knowledge of basic wireless network devices and basic wireless network appliances. Proficient knowledge of wireless network designing software, such as Visio and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Job Summary

The Network Tech will report to the Manager of Mass General Brigham Community Hospital Network technicians or the designated Supervisor. The position will reside at one of the designated Community Hospitals and will be required to travel off-site and affiliated hospitals.

The Network Technician I will be responsible for providing technical support services for desktop computers, laptop computers, printers, tablets, monitors, scanners, and other peripheral devices. Additionally, the Individual will offer support for Apple and Android devices, as well as assist with A/V systems, phones, and any software and hardware necessary for the smooth operation of the hospital. This may include patching network cables in the data closet and installing MGB UKG time clocks. Responsibilities will also include device deployment, software installation, testing network connections, troubleshooting services, and repairs. Service requests will be tracked and documented in service management software.

At the discretion of the Manager, Supervisor, or Shift Lead, the individual may be required to travel to off-site locations in support of projects or provide support when needed. All travel from their designated site will be reimbursed at the MGB standard rate.

The Tech will adhere to the MGB Digital uniform policy and the designated shift schedule.

The Network Tech will work the assigned shift and use the MGB UKG time clocks at the start and end of the shift to document the hours worked. The Manager/Supervisor will be notified at least 7 days before any planned time off. If the individual needs to be out for sickness or an emergency, they will notify the Manager/Supervisor before the shift starts.

The Network Tech will be required to support all areas of the hospital including locations that require the use of Personal Protection Equipment, and PPE. Individuals will be trained in its use and will follow all precautions requiring the use of PPE. Before entering any area that requires the use of PPE, the individual will work with the clinical staff to ensure all policies are adhered to.

Job Description:
  • The role involves installing new patch cables from the patch panel to the new switch, removing existing cables from the old switch, and configuring individual access ports on Cisco switches with appropriate descriptions and VLAN assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement wireless, data and other telecommunications or information technology programs and networks for the State
  • Perform professional and technical work in providing data and/or voice network services for the State; establish and maintain networks and systems, perform preventive maintenance, evaluate systems performance, respond to malfunctions and operating problems, and identify and resolve causes
  • Install, test, and modify data networks, voice networks, wireless networks, and other communication components; coordinate and perform systems tests; adjust, calibrate, and modify network equipment or components to conform to specifications, implement engineering or software changes or enhance systems performance throughout the state network
  • Confer with agency users, representatives of other agencies and political subdivisions and others to determine network requirements for wireless, voice, data, and other telecommunications services
  • Coordinate network requirements with technical staff, contractors, vendors, or others as needed to develop a plan of approach and provide for implementation of required tasks and activities
  • Represent the agency or State at professional, or other meetings or functions concerning data or voice state network requirements and activities
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to bend, crouch, stoop, sit and/or lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • The position uses manual equipment, including dollies and carts.
  • Some extended hours including evening and weekends may be required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of experience involving the installation, operation, repair or maintenance of a voice or data network.
  • Professional certification such as CCNA, JNCIA and CompTIA Network
  • Must include at least 6 months of experience with Networks or another Enterprise Network Related Professional certification.
  • Completion of a technical school or vendor training in the area of Computer Operations/Networking Technology.

This client has been very successful in the last few years and they are expanding into new offices, with a growth opportunity for a skilled Network Technician to be able to take part in that expansion.

There are multiple MS and MAC servers currently running, with several different versions operating concurrently. Because this is a publishing organization, they have a very heavy Macintosh presence, using not only Desktop devices but also the large machines that control publication and printing. In addition, you will be responsible for day-to-day administration duties including Windows Active Directory object maintenance, permissions governance, and domain controller repair tasks.

This company has laid out a blueprint for the next two years focused on establishing a strong technical foundation that will position them well for the 2020's and beyond.

In this role you will be a major part of the team, vital for keeping everything functioning smoothly and connected.

You will perform:
  • 20% Providing Network Support
  • 40% Monitoring Active Directory Systems
  • 20% Planning for Outages, Back-up/Recovery/Expansion
  • 20% Vendor Management
To be considered for this role you must have:
  • Windows based Administration Experience
  • Strong knowledge of network topologies and protocols such as physical wiring, TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and related hardware.
  • VOIP experience
  • Active Directory Experience is a plus
