The Network Engineer position directly supports all the AES Clean Energy networks, firewalls, switches, and related network equipment. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards and AES Global Standards.
The Network Engineer serves as a key point of contact and technical expert supporting the AES Clean Energy Assets. They will manage project network documentation, and remediation activities and communicate compliance results to OT Management Team.
This position is a NERC-regulated position. As such, a background check in the form of a Transport Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) is required for this position.

METI is seeking a highly capable Network Engineer to support Department of Defense (DoD) Tactical Communications and Enterprise Network initiatives. This position focuses on the planning, integration, and sustainment of advanced Software Defined Networks (SDN), virtualization platforms, and network systems supporting both classified and unclassified operational environments.
The Network Engineer will provide technical expertise in routing, switching, virtualization, and secure network infrastructure for enterprise and tactical applications. The role includes solving complex networking issues, optimizing system performance, and contributing to cybersecurity compliance strategies. Candidates must be experienced in modern network technologies and capable of delivering reliable, scalable solutions in high-stakes mission environments.
Duties:- Design, configure, and sustain tactical and enterprise network infrastructures supporting DoD operations.
- Plan and integrate Software Defined Networks (SDN) and virtualization technologies to support mission-critical applications.
- Provide technical leadership and high-level analysis for solving complex network problems within project or program frameworks.
- Support the virtualization of tactical and enterprise applications, including session virtualization and hypervisor environments.
- Analyze, maintain, and optimize network routing and switching systems, including configuration and performance monitoring.
- Assist in the application of cybersecurity controls and IA policies to maintain system compliance across classified and unclassified enclaves.Support deployment and sustainment of networks across lab, field, and cloud environments, with attention to redundancy, security, and resilience.
- Collaborate with system engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and operational readiness.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of technical experience with DoD Tactical Communications and Enterprise Networks, including work across classified/unclassified environments.
- Recent (within the last 2 years) hands-on experience with:
- Software Defined Networking (SDN)
- Virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Session virtualization technologies supporting tactical or enterprise software deployments.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of network routing and switching technologies and configurations (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista).
- Experience with network troubleshooting, optimization, and architecture design.
- Security & Compliance:
- Understanding of Cybersecurity principles and the application of Information Assurance (IA) practices in network environments.
- Familiarity with DoD compliance standards (e.g., RMF, STIGs).
- Experience with cloud-based networks and hybrid infrastructure environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
- Background in integrating C4I and Combat Systems networks.
- Certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCNA, CompTIA Security+, Network+, or DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher.
- May involve working in secure facilities with restricted access.
- Some travel to field sites, labs, or test locations may be required.
- Must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a cross-functional technical team.
