POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Counselor provides crisis intervention and/or overall supervision of clients/residents operational structure.
Pays: $18 Per Hour
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate and ensure the overall cleanliness ad good order of facility.
- Conduct individual counseling and groups as scheduled.
- Attend clinical meeting/case conference.
- In conjunction with other staff, coordinate verify of client movement out of the facility.
- Report incidents/accidents and client/residents concerns to appropriate staff.
- Prepare case summary/court letters.
- Distribute clients' mail packages, conduct House inspection/head count, and distribute client medications.
- Charts compliance.
- Conducts house run at the beginning and the end of each tout to insure good order and cleanliness of the facility.
- Conduct rounds on an hourly basis to assess client/resident conduct plus ensure the ongoing safety and cleanliness of the facility.
- Ensure client safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma required.
- One year related experience in HIV/Substance Abuse/Mental Health.
- 1/3 of OASAS Training for CASAC.
- CASAC-T Certification.
- Excellent organizational, reporting, recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines.
- Ability to make decisions based on education preparation and experience, which reflect consistency with Agency philosophy, policies and procedures, standards of care and review body requirements.
- Bilingual - Spanish speaking a plus.

Reporting the the Workforce Summer Youth Employment Team(SYEP). Youth Counselor will serve as a liaison between ACDP SYEP program, participants and Designated Job work sites.
Youth Counselors will assist with the recruitment of new worksites, conduct pre-assessment visits ensuring worksites are providing a safe and supportive work environments to youth adults assigned to Work Site. Youth Counselors will monitor participant progress and complete overall assessment report for each SYEP participants in their Cohort. Temporary Part-Time -Seasonal Rate of Pay:$18.00 per hour
Schedule Monday-Friday 10am-2pm , 20 Hours Per Week
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Cooperate and maintain a working relationship with the assigned worksite supervisors.
- Communicate with the Program Manager regarding any conflicts with worksite assignments.
- Assist with Facilitation of weekly educational workshops for program participants (ages 14-24) with a provided curriculum.
- Maintain participant files, timesheets and evaluations.
- Attend all related meetings, trainings and supervisions as required. To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical, Communication and Organizational skills
- High School Diploma required; college enrollment and 2 years of related experience working with youths preferred.
- (1-2) years work experience related to customer service and administrative duties
- Effective communications skills, both oral and written form;
- Excellent organizational skills essential to maintain accurate records;
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
- Interact professionally with participants, staff, clients and community partners in a professional manner;
- Work collaboratively with other team members to meet common goals;
- Sensitivity and awareness to different cultures
- Conduct himself/herself as a professional as per policy on conduct, appearance and adherence to the overall organizational policy
- Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.

The Unlicensed Social Worker/Counselor/Mental Health Clinician provides counseling to patient's in a variety of settings including medical facilities, hospitals, clinics, learning centers and other organizations that are in need of assistance. Counselors are entry level, they do progress notes, treatment plans but not individual counseling, not meeting 1 on 1. Run Milu activities (run exercise groups, assist with group work). Intervening with crisis, responsible for practicing and learning coping skills, bathing and toileting. MHT's are not able to write progress notes or run Milu activities but they do assist with them.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Licensing/Certification according to state/facility/contract requirements
+ The Counselor may possess an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing or other Human Development Major
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age

Duties and Responsibilities
- A positive, supportive role model who guides and influences group activities on a consistent basis that enhances the youth's confidence and self-esteem. Youth Counselors ensure the progress and welfare of each client and the group through therapeutic programs. Responsible for staff secure supervision during the afternoon, evening, and sleeping hours.
- Lead group of youth through a variety of daily activities while providing group and individual counseling, with an emphasis on strength-based development. Ensure successful development of the youth through rational living cognitive behavioral therapy to help youth define their life goals and then help them achieve those goals-pointing out thinking errors and faulty cognitions along the way.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 Years of Age or Older per DJJ Guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience working with youth is required. Bachelor's degree in social/behavioral services or outdoor recreation specialties is preferred. 2+ years of college in a social or human services can substitute youth experience requirement.
- Direct care in a therapeutic/rehabilitative setting preferred.
- Ability to travel about property, through wilderness terrain. Must be able to pass evaluation of crisis intervention/physical restraint techniques and written certification exam, and use approved techniques as needed. Must be able to participate in aquatic activities. Ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time. Constant exposure to outdoors and/or weather conditions. Responsible for the overall supervision and safety of clients. Supervision may include shift work.
- Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Valid and appropriate driver’s license or state identification is required.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.

Eckerd Connects' Short-Term Juvenile Justice Residential program is a complete rehabilitative experience delivered in 4 to 6 months to adjudicated male youth, ages 13 to 17, referred by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Division of Juvenile Justice. This residential treatment concept combines promising and evidence-based practices with a strong family transition component and signifies a public-private partnership with the Division of Juvenile Justice which has produced an innovative shift in the way youth are served in North Carolina's juvenile justice system. Intensive, short-term services include individualized treatment and academic plans that combine formal and experiential education, community service, behavioral health, and family counseling in a non-punitive environment designed to address the youth's behavioral challenges through a strength-based approach. Youth also receive accredited education on-site and work together in small group settings with assigned counselors.
