As a Youth Support Worker, you will be responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for the young people in our care. Your duties will include developing and implementing individualized support plans, facilitating group activities and workshops, and providing one-on-one counseling and crisis intervention when necessary. You will work collaboratively with families, schools, and other community resources to ensure comprehensive support for each young person.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and supervision to youth in residential or community settings.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, acting as a mentor and role model.
- Implement therapeutic interventions and behavioral management strategies according to established protocols.
- Organize and lead recreational, educational, and social activities to promote personal growth and development.
- Conduct needs assessments and develop individualized service plans in collaboration with youth and their families.
- Liaise with external agencies, including schools, social services, and mental health providers, to coordinate care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes and incident reports.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
- Advocate for the needs of youth within the organization and the broader community.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with youth, preferably in a social care or educational setting.
- Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and positive youth development principles.
- Demonstrated ability to manage challenging behaviors and de-escalate conflict.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
