Overview

Resource Innovations is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Energy Efficiency Project Coordinator to join our growing team in the Northeast. The successful candidate will work remotely in the New England area and have 30% or less local travel. As a Project Coordinator with Resource Innovations, you will work in a dynamic environment contributing to utility-sponsored retro-commissioning programs that take advantage of a unique energy efficiency opportunity in commercial and industrial buildings: the no/low-cost optimization of HVAC and lighting control strategies to deliver energy savings that would otherwise go unnoticed by the building’s maintenance staff.

The Project Coordinator will work closely with service providers (engineering firms performing retro-commissioning studies) to ensure that each customer receives the support needed to move their project toward completion. In this role you will serve as the face of the program, developing strong relationships with both service providers and customers, monitoring the quality of the retro-commissioning work, keeping projects on schedule, and maintaining program satisfaction for all participants. Additionally, you will manage and promote engagement with building owners and service providers, leveraging partnerships and developing new connections that will be instrumental to the success of the program. Successful candidates will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and innovative environment, demonstrate interest and experience in energy efficiency, and have the right mix of technical ability, program expertise, and interpersonal skills to educate and inspire energy-savings actions in the commercial and industrial sector.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage Service Providers and retro-commissioning projects.
  • Coordinate day-to-day aspects of projects including quality control of deliverables, client communications, maintain project schedules, and utilize technical staff.
  • Promptly and accurately address customer concerns to assure problem resolution and promote long-term productive relationships.
  • Understand the organization and decision-making process in order to work with stakeholders in determining project eligibility, schedule and potential energy savings.
  • Manage on-time delivery of technical reports.
  • Commute to off-site locations to facilitate meetings with stakeholders.
  • Analyze utility data to determine energy performance parameters and eligibility.
  • Review technical reports, cost estimates and energy saving calculations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • BA or BS degree is required, preferably in Engineering, Business Management, Construction Management or a related field
  • MS degree is desired
  • 1+ years of project coordination experience (internships included) or similar within the energy efficiency industry
  • Industrial Assessment Center experience is desired
  • Working knowledge and field knowledge of HVAC systems is a plus
  • Experience in financial analysis of various energy projects
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position. The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location.

What are we looking for?

The Sr. Project Engineer position is on site at our Cortland, NY location, responsible for performing testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of client-provided or other national, international or industry-specific performance and durability standards or US, Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients This position will travel up to 50% of the time, as business dictates.

The base wage or salary range for this position is $90K - $115K. What you'll do:

  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Perform certification, testing work including but not limited to Batteries, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), Combiner Boxes, On Grid & Off-Grid Inverters, DC-DC Convertors, PV Modules.
  • Read and understand client-provided or otherwise published performance or product safety standards.
  • Read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and manufacturing instructions.
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Under scope of the project, identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing.
  • Follow established test plan.
  • Set up and operate EUT (equipment under test); perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed.
  • Conduct construction review, create evaluation reports and test plans, conduct and/or witness testing, resolve technical and/or administrative issues to power electronics standards.
  • May set up and operate standard test equipment including but not limited to: Temperature/Humidity Chambers; Programmable Power Supplies; PLC or other controllers; pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric actuators; AC/DC power supplies and loads; oscilloscope; multi-meter; dielectric strength tester; ground continuity tester; digital multi-meter; surge generator; over-voltage tester; environmental condition chamber; and articulated probes. Use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.
  • Perform testing of products in accordance with standards. Core tests may include but are not limited to: Battery Cycling (Charge/Discharge), Temperature/Humidity soak or cycle, durability cycling, Voltage and Current measurement, dielectric, pressure, abnormal and fault condition simulation, rain, dust, corrosion.
  • Compile test results during construction review and testing. Compile data and product description and type final report using established report shell. Submit report to reviewer for final approval.
  • Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Mentor less senior technical personnel.
  • Supply information for quotes such as length of project, site needed, rental equipment, samples, and standards that will be used.
  • Follow sample handling procedures, ensuring that sample is logged in and out of the system. Move equipment, as needed through the facility. Properly package sample for shipment.
  • Provide sales support such as attending client visits.
  • Provide on-going support to clients as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with focus on electrical circuits and renewable energy.

ERM  is seeking a Principal Consultant, Renewable Energy/Power  overseeing Impact Assessment, Planning and Permitting for renewable energy facilities throughout the Midwest and Heartland, and based in Overland Park, Kansas . This role will lead environmental impact assessment and permitting for various power facilities and other major capital development projects including solar developments, technology infrastructure and energy transmission projects. The ideal candidate will have experience permitting complex development projects in the power and/or technology sector along with technical expertise leading environmental, local, state-level, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews for large-scale capital projects. 

It is preferred and desired that the candidate has experience developing permits and permitting strategies for renewable projects, particularly to support local land use permitting processes, including securing Conditional or Special Use Permits, identifying requirements or local municipalities and counties (e.g., buffer widths, vegetative screening, water quality monitoring, local storm water review criteria), analyzing the potential for variances, and working with developers to optimize layouts based on local permitting requirements.

As part of ERM’s planning team you will be leading consulting on a range of environmental, social, and health impact assessment projects to build a sustainable business both regionally and nationally, while networking with ERM's global technical teams to share best practices across the industry.

This position will focus primarily on environmental impact assessment and federal, state and local permitting to facilitate the development, construction, and operation of commercial-scale energy facilities and support the low carbon economy transition in the U.S. Our portfolio of projects is often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse. The position will require a candidate to work both independently and with teams of subject matter experts, so successful candidate must have the ability to manage varying priorities and multiple tasks while forging a cohesive delivery team to meet concurrent deadlines on multiple projects. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and perform complex permitting and compliance associated with renewable energy and tech sector development projects with an emphasis on local, state, and federal permitting, including but not limited to compliance associated with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and regulations of federal agencies such as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and state-level agencies.
  • Manage and lead the preparation of permitting documents for energy/industrial facility development, expansion, maintenance, or decommissioning, with a focus on local permitting. Overseeing project delivery activities such as report writing, data collection, data and literature review, and developing recommendations for clients.
  • Manage preparation of discipline-specific reports, permitting documents, NEPA documents, and state-level environmental reviews consistent with applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements. Serve in roles ranging from project manager, task manager, technical expert, and QA/QC of deliverables.
  • Contribute technical, subject matter or project management expertise on permitting strategies, due diligence reviews, environmental critical issues assessments, impact assessment deliverables, and overall quality control review.
  • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads as well as help to expand our growing renewable projects and team.
  • Manage and work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Collaborate with other ERM practitioners to execute impact assessment and capital project permitting (ERM services broadly include baseline studies, environmental impact assessment, routing studies, land planning, and facility siting & permitting).
  • Expand ERM’s profile and market share through your existing client relationships, building and deepening ERM’s existing relationships, and delivering high quality, and reliable service.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental studies, environmental management, wetland science, planning, geography or related natural resources science field of study; or 8+ year's equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of project management, licensing and permitting experience, including strong project experience in power.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local permitting, in particular with the preparation of applications and documents related to the development of renewable energy projects.
  • Experience assisting clients in obtaining multi-media permits and approvals for new or expanded facilities.
  • Experience overseeing and coordinating desktop and online studies or research on natural resource or resource planning topics, Geographic Information System, map interpretation (National Wetland Inventory, U.S. Geological Survey, aerial photography).

What You'll Do:
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing electrical, control, and drive systems in the field and in-house

  • Create detailed PCB layouts from engineering schematics, optimizing component placement, routing traces, and maintaining signal integrity. As well as generating manufacturing files for PCB manufacturers.
  • Write, test, and debug microcontroller code that controls the hardware of embedded devices, developing efficient, high-performance code that meets the memory and processing constraints of microcontrollers.

The ICE Engineering Team (Instrument, Control, Electrical) is a group of approximately 18 Electrical Engineers professionals that provide design, implementation, and commissioning support for 4000 miles of pipeline and approximately 60 Petroleum, Asphalt, and Ammonia terminals and booster stations. This team has responsibility for all things electrical and manages both power and control systems design.

What You Will Do

  • Apply industry and company standards and codes to design, implement, commission, and maintain low- and medium-voltage electrical power distribution systems.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the electrical scope, partnering with project managers, contractors, and vendors to develop scopes of work and oversee resources for successful project execution
  • Provide SME support for electrical systems, including switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, power distribution equipment, and protective relays.
  • Review and approve deliverables from engineering contractors supporting the electrical scope of projects.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to advance FHR's electrical capabilities.
  • Partner with the Electrical Safe Work team to provide engineered solutions that create a safer work environment.
  • Support the Arc Flash Program by conducting studies, developing and verifying models, reviewing results, generating labels, and recommending strategies to reduce incident energy levels.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical system issues to improve site reliability.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience, or a minimum of 10 years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting performing electrical power-related capital projects.
  • Experience engineering projects for both medium- and low-voltage power applications.
  • Experience maintaining engineering documents for electrical systems (e.g., one-lines, panel schedules, schematics, wiring diagrams).
  • Experience specifying electrical equipment and evaluating vendor proposals across the full range of power system equipment.
  • Experience determining protective parameters for electrical equipment and infrastructure.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time (with potential sustained peaks driven by project schedules and workload).
