Speech Language Pathologist Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessments & Evaluations : Conduct compliant, formalized and dynamic assessments to determine educational eligibility/level of functioning. About the Role:


In this role, you will work on-site from a TurboTax location, serving customers both in-person and virtually using Intuit TurboTax products. What You’ll Do:

  • Provide Tax Expertise - Give hands-on tax advice and complete preparation services for TurboTax clients, handling simple to complex tax situations (e.g., personal and business income, deductions optimization, amendments). Facilitate discovery sessions and tax reviews to uncover deductions, minimize tax liabilities, maximize refunds, and provide future tax planning advice. Utilize resources such as government websites, professional tools, and team expertise to deliver accurate tax solutions in personalized everyday language.
  • Be a Proactive Community Ambassador - Embody a "community ambassador" and "business owner" mindset to cultivate a robust customer base for TurboTax. Who You Are:

  • Possess active, unrestricted credentials: EA (Enrolled Agent), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or Practicing Attorney with strong tax preparation experience and extensive knowledge of tax laws.
  • Have an active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) as required by law to file taxes.
  • Minimum of 2 years of paid experience filing 30 or more federal and state individual 1040 tax returns per tax season using professional tax preparation software.
  • Familiarity with Circular 230
  • Willing and available to work a static weekly schedule with a minimum of 24 hours per week at a TurboTax location
  • Interest in building a local and online social presence as a TurboTax Expert, creating accessible tax-related content and resources for your community in accordance with Intuit’s policies

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 25 percent sitting, 40 percent walking, and 35 percent standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, in a generally hazard-free environment, and in a clean atmosphere. Traveling between sites across the County is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum one year as a practicing audiologist in an educational setting.

EDUCATIONAL AUDIOLOGIST

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Job Description:

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Examine students with ear, hearing or balance and other related problems.

• Assess exam results and diagnose the student.

• Provide interpretation of audiological test results and make recommendations as a part of the IEP team.

• Selects and fits appropriate classroom amplifications.

• Monitors the progress of students with hearing loss, use of amplification and makes appropriate adjustments, as needed.

• Determine the best course of treatment, taking the student’s educational needs and concerns into consideration.

• Participate as a member of the IEP team to make decisions regarding students’ educational needs and services.

• Provide counseling for the student, staff and close family members on how to best listen and communicate using methods such as lip reading or technology.

• Evaluate and follow up on the student’s condition and record any developments.

• Consult with school staff and family regarding student needs in relation to hearing loss and accessing their education.

• Educate students on ways to prevent hearing loss. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of the fundamental principles, methods and techniques for evaluating students’ hearing.

• Understanding of the etiology, psychology, problems and needs of students with hearing losses.

• Knowledge of speech and language development in students with hearing losses and the relationship of hearing losses to personality and emotional development.

• Skill in speech reading and auditory training techniques.

• Skill in the selection, evaluation of performance characteristics and the use of classroom amplification systems, hearing aids and other audiological equipment.

• Skill in interpreting and reporting audiometric, audiologic and related behavioral test data.

• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and District personnel.

• Knowledge of in-service resources and ability to implement them.

• Ability to compose and comprehend written communication.

• Ability to work effectively with diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability and socioeconomic groups.

• Ability to travel to other sites or locations.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks, and occasionally, skills need to be upgraded to meet changing job conditions.

ABILITY to maintain proper discipline and control; develop effective interpersonal skills with parents, children and staff; understand and utilize appropriate evaluation instruments; be responsive to needs and concerns of parents and to encourage their participation in their child’s educational program; communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing; consult effectively with parents, students, staff and other agencies; create a positive listening environment; work independently with little direction; meet demanding schedules and timelines; deal with sensitive and difficult situations; demonstrate intellectual capabilities in order to reach and make sound logical decisions, and contributions; maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with staff, the public, and other agency personnel; perform overtime as needed and perform job safely.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 25 percent sitting, 40 percent walking, and 35 percent standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, in a generally hazard-free environment, and in a clean atmosphere. Traveling between sites across the County is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum one year as a practicing audiologist in an educational setting.

CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES

· Prior to 2012, an earned Master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard from an accredited college or university

· 2012 and on, an earned doctoral degree (PhD or AuD)

· A valid California Clinical/Rehabilitative Services Audiology credential or combination of credentials authorizing service as an audiologist must be in force and on file in the Office of the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools

· Valid California Driver’s License You must provide copies of permit/credential/certificates as required for position or provide evidence of qualifying for required permit/credential/certificates with your application materials to qualify for the position.
