SPCAA is seeking high enthusatic individual to serve as Family Support Worker in coordinating services to enrolled children and families in our Head Start program at our Childcare Partner Little Legacies Idalou and Woordrow.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Works collaboratively with supervisor to ensure all Head Start Performance Standards, The Head Start Act, and TDFPS Minimum standards are implemented as set forth in the SPCAA Head Start policies and procedures.

• Responsible for maintaining complete, accurate documentation in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelors or Associate degree in social work, human services, or related field preferred or will need have within eighteen months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field.
• Experience in case management and/or experience in programs serving low-income families with young children highly preferred.
• Computer and technology skills to effectively use: word processing software, spreadsheet format, e-mails, internet, and ChildPlus software.
• Must be willing to take and pass a drug/alcohol test and comply with the "Drug Free": Agency Policy
• Must be able to pass regular criminal history checks.
• Must submit to TB tests as required.
• Must possess ability to provide reliable self-transportation capable of regional travel. Must possess and maintain valid Texas motor vehicle operator's permit of appropriate classification and endorsement as required. Must agree to maintain a satisfactory MVR and minimum requirement of insurability as required by law. MVR background checks may be conducted by the agency.

Education/Certification:
  • Master's degree in Social Work, license preferred

  • Collaborate with school staff and the Student Services Department to develop and implement student attendance improvement strategies that include family involvement.
  • Coordinate and integrate school and community resources and refer school staff and parents to community resources where appropriate.
  • Identify and explore causes of students' dysfunction as it relates to the home, school, and community including making home visits to gather information relating to students.
Consultation:
  • Assist school personnel to help students explore alternative education programs and career counseling.
  • Serve as a consultant to school personnel regarding students or situations that are not referred for direct district or outside services.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of parent involvement activities. Develop and conduct parenting training and support groups.
  • Consult with families regarding their children's academic performance, behavior, attendance, and needs.
  • Work with school and community personnel to bring together resources for students.
  • Inform students and families of their rights and responsibilities under federal and state law including compulsory attendance.

  • Provide short-term, goal-oriented individual mental health interventions when social-emotional needs impact academic learning or ability to participate in school day; facilitate connection to more extensive services if determined necessary.
