POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direct patient care services and keeps records on personal health care activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living which include, but are not limited to, personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, transporting, and transfers.
- Assists residents with dining to include escorting, transferring, order taking, serving, feeding, meal preparation, and clean up.
- Assist with housekeeping services, including but not limited to, bed making, trash removal, laundry, room and bathroom cleaning as needed, and requests from residents.
- Leads and assists with life enrichment activities with guidance and support from Life Enrichment Leaders and Supervisors. May include, but is not limited to, activities, craft/game groups, life skills, daily pleasures, and one on one interaction.
- Escort residents to scheduled programming. Could participate in outings and/or day trips. Encourages daily participating in scheduled programming.
- Take and record vital signs and weights as ordered or required by regulations.
- Participates in and attends all in-service training and education programs as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Wellness Director and under the direction of the Licensed Practical Nurse, the CNA provides direct personal services for residents. Position Summary :
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing routine daily nursing direct care and quality customer service to assigned Members under the supervision of The Highlands and Isle of Skye Manager and/or their designated nursing supervisor.

- Responsible for assuring that appropriate, informative, and descriptive information is communicated between nursing personnel on different shifts including, but not limited to, reporting all accidents/incidents involving Members, reporting unauthorized discharges in accordance with established departmental procedures, and reporting all discrepancies noted concerning established Member care
- Must request daily assignments from Charge Nurse upon reporting for a shift

- Record usage of ancillary and medical equipment for Members to ensure proper billing as per the current system
- Assist with lifting, repositioning, moving, and transporting Members into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, and other items
- Assist Members to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed
- Perform services as assigned that may include, but are not limited to, obtaining sputum, urine, and other specimens, taking and recording vital signs and weights, bathing, observing and reporting early signs of skin breakdown, indwelling catheter care, lifting and repositioning, and palliative care
- Assist Members with meal services to include, but not limited to, in-room food service, assisting with feeding as needed, preparing Members for meals and providing after-meal care, and reporting and recording changes in Member eating habits and/or fluid intake
- Ensure that Member rooms are clean, sanitary, and safe. Make beds, change bed linens, and place extra covers on beds as requested
- Adhere to all aspects of The Highlands and Isle of Skye written Member Rights program
- Continuously follow company procedures to include, but not limited to, risks and prevention of infectious disease, proper hand washing techniques, proper and safe use of work tools, equipment, and other procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment, hazard communications, safety, universal precautions, and bloodborne pathogens programs
- Assist other employees with lifting and/or carrying unusually large or heavy objects in a manner that complies with company safety procedures
- Communicates as needed with Members to resolve problems or complaints in a timely and effective manner that facilitates a high level of Member care
- Responsible for using Member care equipment and supplies in a safe manner in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures
- Creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and a calm environment throughout the unit and shift
- Actively participates in mandatory meetings on the units and other training sessions as assigned. Attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep staff abreast of changes as well as to maintain licenses in a current and active status.
