Our client, a leading consulting engineering firm renowned for its innovative infrastructure solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Remote Senior Civil Engineer specializing in Structural Design. This is a fully remote position, allowing talented engineers across the US to contribute to impactful projects. You will lead the design of complex structural systems for a variety of projects, including bridges, buildings, and transportation infrastructure, ensuring safety, durability, and compliance with codes and standards. Your expertise will be crucial in driving design excellence and mentoring junior engineers within a collaborative, virtual environment. This role demands a strong technical foundation, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage design tasks independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the structural design for a diverse range of civil engineering projects, including buildings, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure.
  • Perform complex structural analysis and design calculations using state-of-the-art software.
  • Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., AASHTO, IBC, ACI, AISC).
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, other engineering disciplines (geotechnical, transportation, MEP), and clients through virtual platforms.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports, studies, and technical memorandums.
  • Assist in proposal development and client presentations.
  • Stay current with advancements in structural engineering principles, materials, and design technologies.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, responding to RFI’s and reviewing submittals.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural design and analysis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one US state required; multi-state licensure or SE license is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System).
  • Thorough understanding of concrete, steel, and timber design principles.
  • Proven experience in managing structural design projects from concept through construction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting.
  • Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software (e.g., Revit) is highly desirable.
