As a Community Development Banking Senior Associate within our Commercial Real Estate team, your initial responsibility will be to provide support and assistance in the underwriting and approval process for acquisition, construction, and/or permanent loans sourced by senior banker colleagues. Job Responsibilities
- Work with Originating Banker to gather all project related documentation, prepare credit committee pitch packages, Letters of Interest, and Term Sheets. Duties will include analysis and adjustment, as necessary, of development budgets, operating statements, rent schedules, construction flow of funds, relevant personal and corporate financial statements, operating statements, market studies and other third-party reports.
- Work collaboratively with the assigned underwriter through the credit approval process, including closing calls, due diligence collection, and internal reporting requirements.
- Review legal documentation associated with the transaction prior to closing to determine accuracy of information and consistency with the terms of credit approval.
- Assist in handling client meetings and/or calls related to specific financings, and attend JPM Chase sponsored events and other affordable housing industry events, both during and after business hours.
- Maintain awareness of construction progress (appropriateness of draw requests, adequacy of debt and equity sources, time delays, cost overruns, usage of contingency funds, potential negative equity adjusters, and compliance with loan documents).
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:
- 3+ years' experience in the financing of commercial real estate transactions including familiarity with the financing of mixed income and affordable housing development projects.
- Experience with Federal, State and Local Affordable Housing/LIHTC financing programs required
- BA/BS degree
- Ability to interact favorably in person and on the telephone with prospects, clients, consultants, government agency staff, and legal counsel

- Lead client coverage, with a focus on delighting clients through JPM products and service. Shape where and how the CDB local coverage and product teams drive impact and results.
- Identify opportunities for new products, enhancements to meet industry-specific needs
- Influence and distribute key industry information including industry financial comparisons, market leaders, competitor insight, regulatory issues and impacts
- Actively participate, syndicate, innovate and support process, policy and technology initiatives designed to mitigate risk; improve speed, quality and overall client satisfaction
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 15+ years affordable housing, community development and management experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Skills should include experience in structuring, underwriting, closing, and administering commercial real estate construction loans for affordable multifamily housing, deep industry relationships with borrowers and real estate centers of influence
- Demonstrated experience leading cross functional teams within a business development environment
- Extensive knowledge of mortgage products, financial services, lending, and real estate compliance in addition to sales management techniques
- Divergent managerial skills including delegation, coaching and demonstrated leadership abilities among peers, team members and senior executives
