As an Associate Material Controller for Advanced Manufacturing at our Spartanburg, South Carolina location, you will be responsible for performing materials management activities of major capital equipment and materials while under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.
Join a knowledgeable and supportive team as you perform field material control transactions associated with purchased materials and/or equipment as assigned. The Associate Material Controller demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of materials management concepts, principles and practices, and techniques of ensuring task completion.
The Associate Material Controller reports directly to the Manager of Supply Chain Integration, Life Sciences North America. While supporting Jacobs' Projects, the Materials Management Coordinator will report indirectly to the assigned Project Procurement Manager (PPM) or Materials Lead.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO:
* Develop an understanding of material control processes, procedures, and tools, basic procurement principles and practices, techniques of ensuring task completion, project delivery processes, and supplier relationship expectations.
* Utilize established policies, procedures, systems, and tools.
* Review Shipment Release Request related Supplier documentation and ensure that Shipment Authorizations are approved in accordance with terms and conditions agreed within the purchase order and the Material Control Execution Plan.
* Advise stakeholders how to create & initiate shipment releases and help them in understanding the overall shipment authorization process.
* Administer Material Receiving Reports (MRRs), Material Issue Requests (MIRs) and Over shipment / Under shipment / Damaged Reports (OS&Ds).
* Maintain a register of Materials requiring preservation activities to be performed.
* Evaluate facts surrounding material control related problem areas and apply remedies to resolve them.
* Maintain material control documentation in a repository.
* Identify and advise management of material control related risks.
* Participate in the coordination of OS&D resolution.
* Work under close supervision. No direct reports or supervision responsibilities.
* Coordinate with project or departmental personnel in performance of the material control activities.
* Bachelor's degree in business, construction, supply chain, operations management, or equivalent project experience.
* 2-5 years of experience in capital equipment material control is preferred.
* Experience in Advanced Manufacturing (or related industry) projects is ideal.
* Experience using MS Office tools, including intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
* 2+ years of experience using Materials Management software &/or Enterprise Purchasing Systems, including hands-on expertise with inventory control and procurement processes (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Smart Materials) is preferred.
* An expressed interest in pursuing a career in Construction Management or Procurement.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* The ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
* Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

These engagements will primarily focus on non-resident alien (NRA) withholding and reporting (IRC Sections 1441 to 1446), Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), and domestic withholding and reporting matters. You can expect to work on engagements dealing with the FATCA, cost basis reporting, and various other global compliance and reporting initiatives, such as the Common Reporting Standard (CRS). **Our Vision for this Role**
Reporting to the Manager or Supervisor of Financial Accounting & Reporting, the Financial Accounting & Reporting Senior Accountant is an experienced accounting professional directly responsible for supporting the financial accounting and reporting needs of designated business unit(s) as well as ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Accountabilities include ensuring timely and accurate production and issuance of period-ending financial statements for select business unit(s), ad hoc client service, reporting and analysis to provide business results and insights, informing and supporting the annual budgeting process, analysis and support of financial projects, identifying and implementing process improvements and efficiencies, researching and resolving accounting issues as they arise, and assisting with special projects when necessary including but not limited to acquisition financial diligence and integration.
**What We Will Accomplish Together**
+ Financial Accounting & Reporting:
+ Prepare and review timely and accurate month-end financial statements.
+ Perform analytical review procedures on month-end financial statements and provide insights and explanations to users of financials, including operations teams.
+ Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts.
+ Research and resolve accounting issues as they arise, effectively communicating the impact.
+ Support preparation of consolidated reporting and other monthly reporting requirements.
+ Ensure proper accounting treatment for unique or non-routine transactions including but not limited to unit openings, closures, sales, and acquisitions.
+ As needed, support acquisitions in the due diligence, integration, and post-close phases. This could include reviewing financial trends, performing confirmatory work, partnering cross-functionally with other relevant teams, coordinating integration of the acquired business into the accounting and reporting systems and related financial close processes, post-close accounting, and ongoing analysis and reporting on performance.
**Preferred Qualifications to be Successful**
Budgeting & Forecasting:
+ Partner cross-functionally with FP&A and Operations teams on the compilation of annual financial budgets for units and overhead.
+ Support monthly forecasting performed by FP&A.
Audit and Compliance:
+ Support external financial and compliance audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
+ Ensure compliance with internal controls, relevant accounting standards, and company policies.
Process Improvement:
+ Support financial system projects and initiatives as needed.
+ Identify and implement improvements in accounting and reporting processes.
Team Collaboration:
+ Partner with cross-functional teams to complete month end close, gather data, and provide financial insights.
+ Assist with onboarding and training team members.
Internal and External Reporting Requirements:
+ Franchisor reporting and filing requirements.
+ Landlord financial reporting requirements.
+ Operational performance reporting requirements.
+ Ad-hoc report requests.
+ Support Financial Accounting & Reporting Leadership as needed on special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis.
**What You Have**
+ You should have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial reporting roles (Public Accounting with a National or large Regional CPA firm and/or financial analysis experience for a large company in their corporate offices preferred).
+ A CPA or MBA is preferred but not required.
+ You should have strong analytical as well as audit/research documentation skills.
+ You should have a demonstrated understanding and experience with the monthly closing process and financial statement preparation.
+ You should have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (ERP experience preferred).
+ You should have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
+ You should be Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
+ You should have the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ You must possess personal drive and ownership.
