**Your Impact**
As a Leader, Data Science on the GPS Data & Systems Architecture team, you will lead the development of scalable data platforms and trusted data ecosystems that power strategic decision-making across procurement operations. You'll architect modern data infrastructure, establish data standards, and oversee the deployment of AI-enabled solutions that unlock insights and automation across the enterprise.
**You will:**
Lead the design and implementation of robust, secure, and scalable data infrastructure for procurement analytics
Build end-to-end pipelines and data products to support reporting, forecasting, and AI-powered insights
Guide high-level strategy and hands-on execution for data quality, governance, and compliance
Collaborate with business and engineering partners to align data architecture with enterprise needs
Support the integration of machine learning models and AI tools for use cases like supplier risk, spend forecasting, and process automation

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ **Experience** : 15+ years in data infrastructure, analytics engineering, or data architecture roles, preferably within large enterprise environments
+ **Data Architecture & Engineering:** Hands-on expertise with MPP databases (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and scalable data pipelines
+ **Programming & Modeling** : Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL with experience developing analytical models (e.g., regression, time-series, neural networks)
+ **BI & Visualization:** Strong command of tools such as Power BI, AI Analytics tools with proven ability to build data products for broad business consumption
+ **Leadership** : At least 6 + years of experience managing or leading technical teams, with the ability to mentor talent and drive results through collaboration
+ **Governance & Compliance** : Deep understanding of data governance practices, including security, privacy, and lifecycle management
+ **AI/ML Engineering:** Experience integrating AI/ML solutions into production workflows, including foundation models or LLM-based tools
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Familiarity with unstructured data systems (e.g., MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and vector databases
+ Prior experience supporting procurement, supply chain, or finance domains through data and analytics

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.

The Hartford is seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP), Data Science to lead the Generative AI (GenAI) Data Science teams within the Personal Insurance organization. This pivotal leadership role will be responsible for driving our Customer Centric strategy, with the two major focus areas being Price to Risk and Customer Experience. The AVP will oversee the development and execution of advanced analytics and AI capabilities that enhance pricing accuracy, feature development, operational efficiencies, and customer experience across the Personal Insurance lifecycle.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our PI HUB office locations (Hartford, CT. San Antonio, TX. Scottsdale, AZ. Charlotte, NC. Tampa, FL. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead 11 FTEs in the GenAI Data Science teams focused on Price to Risk and Customer Experience within Personal Insurance.

  • Develop and execute a research agenda to embed AI and automation into pricing, underwriting, and customer interaction processes.

  • Manage the development and enhancement of pricing and operational models, integrated into the scaled agile framework of the Personal Insurance business unit.

  • Serve as a member of the Personal Insurance extended Data and Analytics leadership team and provide thought leadership across data science and business domains.

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Data Science or AI within Insurance or Financial Services.

  • 8+ years of experience leading technical teams and managing complex analytic projects.

  • 5+ years of experience developing and deploying data science solutions within Personal Insurance.

  • Experience in Loss Modeling, Underwriting and Sales Modeling is preferred.

  • Subject matter expertise in Generative AI, Agentic AI, and machine learning model development including Gradient Boosted Machines (GBMs), Computer Vision, Neural Networks and Generalized Linear Models (GLMs).

  • Experience developing and deploying Class Plan Pricing models as well as regulatory requirements.

  • Proficiency in responsible AI practices, model governance, and regulatory compliance.

  • Experience in creating production environment data analytic solutions and applications.

  • Proven experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions in multi-cloud environments, with a strong preference for Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly Vertex AI.

  • Experience leading migration of AI/ML solutions across cloud platforms, especially transitioning workloads and models from AWS to GCP, ensuring performance optimization and cost efficiency.

  • Deep understanding of data pipelines, model lifecycle management, and CI/CD pipelines across GCP and AWS ecosystems.

  • Ability to evaluate and integrate cloud-specific GenAI tooling into enterprise AI platforms, ensuring governance, scalability, and reuse.

  • Experience influencing senior business stakeholders and communicating data science outcomes, including formal evidence of delivery aligned to strategic initiatives such as Hartford INVEST funding.
