Job Description

**Description:** You will be a Tool Design Engineer Stf. for the LM Palmdale site, supporting the design and development of special tools and fixtures for assembly and fabrication operations. Our team is responsible for creating innovative solutions to manufacture aircraft components and final assemblies, while ensuring compliance with government regulations and company requirements.
As the Tool Design Engineer, you will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, fabricate, and implement special tools and fixtures, utilizing CAD software such as CATIA V5. You will create detailed tool design CAD models and drawings, and provide shop floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
You will also be expected to provide support to tooling vendors during the fabrication phase of tool designs, see their use into the production system and ensure configuration control is maintained.
Other tasks will include root cause analysis of tooling issues, ability to implement corrective actions, act as a technical checker for tool designs developed by team members/vendors and work to drive continuous improvement into our line of business.
A combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent to the degree requirement. Case by case evaluation will occur.
Interim Clearance required prior to start
MUST BE A US CITIZEN - This position is located in a facility that requires special access.
A level 4 employee typically has 10 - 15 years of professional experience.

**Basic Qualifications:**
-Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
-Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and diagrams.
-Must be able to interpret metrology data.
-Experience with CATIA V5 Software.
-Tool Design and Fabrication Support experience.
-Aero Industry Experience
-Ability to obtain and maintain secret clearance per business requirements
**Desired Skills:**
-STEM degree with 9+ years of experience
-Previous hands on mechanical experience, jig building experience, and computer aided design experience on any 3D drawing and analysis software package.
-Previous tool design experience for composite part families and processes, from layup fixtures to trim fixtures, bond fixtures, and assembly fixtures.
-Exposure to root cause analysis and continuous improvement concepts.
-Exposure to Vendor support and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
-Exposure to disposition tooling request from vendors on tooling issues; ability to research and validate request.
-Experience with CATIA V4 Software.
-Microsoft Office Suite Experience: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
**Security Clearance Statement:** This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
**Clearance Level:** Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

**Work Schedules:** Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
**Schedule for this Position:** 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
**Pay Rate:** The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $99,700 - $75,835. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. **Benefits offered:** Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. + Development and review of completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
+ Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Basic Qualifications for a Engineer include a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 0 years of related experience
+ Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer include a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM and 0 years of related experience
+ Experience in a combination of Environmental Control (ECS), Fuel, Powerplant, Landing Gear, Harness, and Hydraulic installations.
+ Proficient in use of CATIA V5 (2D and 3D) R26 (or higher) and Team Center (Unified and Enterprise). Must be able to develop 3D CATIA Product Models, parts, and assemblies. Tasking will include design development of supports, LRU trays, cabling, and zone installation models. Must be familiar with cable routing techniques and requirements. Need to be familiar with use of CATIA Electrical Workbench to develop and route cables. Will be generating 2D Drawings, so must understand normal drafting practices in accordance with ASME Y14.5. CATIA Models and Drawings will be saved and managed through Team Center Unified, so must be familiar with using CATIA to Team Center Unified interface. Must possess understanding of drawing trees and indentured parts lists.
+ This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access (Program Special access not required to start)
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.
+ 5 years or more Aerospace Subsystems design experience using CATIA V5.

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $34,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: 110,300.00 - 165,500.00

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
