Full-time; 37.5 hours per week
ABA's Internship provides students with a paid opportunity to work with one of the biggest trade associations in Washington, DC. This extremely selective opportunity provides students with the opportunity to do substantial work in various divisions across ABA, connect with leadership, build a network, and make a difference.
**Primary Responsibilities**
+ Analyze banking industry data to provide insights on industry trends and issues.
+ Track economic and market indicators and providing analysis.
+ Generating data visualizations through platforms Power BI, R, and Tableau.
+ Gather, clean, and organize data from various sources.
**Required Skills**

Qualifications:

  • Motivated and exceptional college graduates with a strong academic record in economics, mathematics, finance, statistics, computer science, or in related fields.

Responsibilities:

  • RAs assist staff economists in the analysis of current public policy issues and events including topics such as monetary policy, the state of the US and global economy, development in financial and housing markets, etc. This may include running and maintaining financial, banking and macroeconomic forecasting models or preparing background material for briefings with the Atlanta Fed president.

  • RAs assist staff economists in their research activity, allowing them to work on a broad array of applied and theoretical topics. Most RAs will provide statistical and computational analysis to support staff economists.

**Key Responsibilities**
+ Support VSE Business Unit FP&A Cycles (SR, QBR, CMT, BSR):
+ Coordination of deliverables across the finance team and broader business, helping align the groups to meet critical milestones with a high degree of quality
+ Build collaborative relationships with business partners to gather and incorporate inputs supporting BU strategy and profitability

**What Is the Opportunity?**
Travelers' financial analysis team translates raw numbers into actionable insights to tell the story of past financial results and forecast possibilities into the future. The team acts as an independent party to collaborate with business partners and enable them to make informed decisions rooted in economic reality. As a Director, Financial Analysis, you will design, model, and present financial reports to assigned business area(s) and proactively identify trends and impacts on the business to inform decisions. As a collaborative partner to the business, you will help advance team objectives and business outcomes by interpreting, communicating, and applying analyses in a way that resonates with the intended audience. You will also review and approve team member's interpretations of trends in business performance. This position may manage finance professionals.
In this role as Director, Financial Analysis, you will be a leader within the Middle Market Finance organization, collaborating with the Business Insurance (BI) Field team. You will support the 10 Field Vice Presidents and work closely with the Small Commercial and Middle Markey leadership teams. Your responsibilities include providing monthly reporting, analysis, and annual planning for the 10 BI Regions, as well as facilitating two main operating reviews within BI leadership. Building relationships with leaders in the BI Field and home office is essential, as you will serve as the main Finance contact for BI Field Leaders, assisting with ad hoc requests and navigating the organization. This role will also be involved in multiple BI Finance transformation initiatives, playing a critical role in shaping, driving, and monitoring long-term strategic priorities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and financial acumen. Familiarity with TM1 / IPA is a plus. A strong executive presence is required, as you will be engaging with senior leaders and representing Middle Market Finance in various workstreams. The ability to connect financial content to broader business strategies is essential.
**What Will You Do?**
+ Synthesize reports generated into impactful exhibits, insightful results/observations, and actionable recommendations to influence business partners and management, ensuring quality control/accuracy.

**What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?**

The Semiconductor Products Group (SPG) central planning finance director will play a key role in helping drive the organization to meet both short- and long-term operating model goals and be responsible for providing deep insights into segment revenue and margin drivers.

+ Collaborate with FP&A reporting teams to deliver strategic insights during quarterly and annual forecasting cycles.

+ Partner with operations to align cost and efficiency improvements with long-term margin goals; implement systemic reporting to track progress across multiple initiatives.
