Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our Rockford school community for the school year. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative and supportive environment. Under the direction of the Site Administrator, the Licensed Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
Plans and implements specialized and differentiated instruction to provide standards-aligned curriculum. This may mean teaching multiple grade levels/classes at once.
Utilizes research-based practice to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each students IEP.
Creates dynamic, hands-on lesson plans to maximize student engagement.
Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning.
Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students
Works cooperatively with team members and others in developing instructional goals and strategies.
Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.
Creates a positive learning experience with emphasis in individualized instruction
Serves as primary contact for the parent.
Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of educational assistants as directed.
Implements the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) to fidelity and accepts feedback and coaching from the Counselor/Social Worker/BCBA
Assists in de-escalation of students
Assists in student crisis situations, including potential for physical restraint if student becomes a danger to themselves or others.
Completes all school and state reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field.
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement.
Experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities preferred.
Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
