Job Description
The Paramedic Instructor will help the Program Director coordinate, implement, and evaluate the Paramedic Education Program.
**A caregiver in this position works day/evening/night/weekend, 8:30am-10:00pm.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Plan laboratory sessions, identifying equipment needs and enlisting evaluators.
+ Offer one-on-one tutoring on practical skills and didactic material to EMT and Paramedic Students.
+ Instruct assigned EMS courses in the classroom and laboratory setting.
+ Maintain accurate inventory of all paramedic program supplies and equipment.
+ Evaluate new EMS products and equipment.
+ Make recommendations to Program Director regarding equipment/product purchases.
+ Assist with class coverage, monitoring lectures, and lecturing, as necessary.
+ Assist with written test administration and evaluation.
+ Evaluate students in clinical/field internship rotations, as necessary.
+ Submit student evaluations to the Program Coordinator.
+ Assist EMT and Paramedic instructors in scheduling equipment for classroom instruction and practical testing.
+ Establish cooperative working relationships with community health and EMS organizations and agencies.
+ Maintain current licensure/certifications throughout tenure of duty.
+ Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ State of Ohio Paramedic Certification required.
+ BLS (Basic Life Support).
+ ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
+ PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within one year.
+ State of Ohio EMS Instructor (EMS-I) required within one year.
+ Basic Life Support Instructor - American Heart Association (BLSI)
+ Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor - American Heart Association (ACLSI) -required within one year.
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor - American Heart Association (PALSI) - required within one year.
+ ITLS Instructor (International Trauma Life Support) instructor certification - required within one year.
+ Five years of EMS experience as an EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic.
+ Two years of Paramedic experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Associates degree.
+ National Registered Paramedic.
+ Teaching experience.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
+ Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
