+ 1 Self-Contained EC Teacher
+ 5 kids (K-3); AU stemming behaviors
+ 2 TAs in class
+ 1 Resource/Inclusion Teacher - Middle School
+ Middle School ages
+ Case load = ~28 kids
+ Push in (only a few kids) and mostly pull out (small groups)
Duties:
+ Complete lesson plans
+ Complete progress reports
+ Use assessments and data to inform instructional practices
+ Utilize IEP information to adapt instruction to reach the needs of students
Requirements:
+ Must be licensed teacher in North Carolina or hold active out of state Special Education Teaching License
+ Must be licensed by NCDPI in EC General Curriculum
+ Minimum 1 year of teaching experience required
+ Passionate teacher who puts the students first
+ Strong desire to help kids

Position Summary::Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a dedicated and student-focused High School Equivalency (HSE) and Reading Literacy Instructor to teach adult learners at Piedmont Correctional Institute. The instructor will deliver instruction in reading, writing, social studies, science, and mathematics aligned with HSE/GED standards, while creating an engaging and supportive learning environment for justice-involved students.
Required Education/Experience::- Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction for adult learners with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Commitment to the mission of correctional and adult education.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills::
- Teaching experience in Adult Basic Education (ABE), HSE/GED preparation, or correctional education.
- Experience with TABE, CASAS, or other standardized adult education assessments.
- Familiarity with technology-enhanced instruction and remote learning tools.
- Masters degree in Education, Adult Education, or related field.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::
This position is located inside a correctional facility, and instructors must be able to adapt to the unique requirements of teaching in a secure environment. Class Schedules, access and resources are subject to the institutional rules and procedures, which may differ significantly from traditional academic settings. Flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to adjust to changing circumstances are essential for success in this role.
