Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, which includes washing equipment and service ware, receiving and distributing deliveries, proper sanitation of the kitchen and dining room, trash removal and floor maintenance.
  • Wash, sanitize and maintain food production equipment & service ware determined by the supervisor and the cleaning schedule.
  • Lift, move food, food containers and other non-food items from floor position up to approximately 35 pounds to no higher than one's own height.
  • Receive, unpack, unwrap, rotate, & stow deliveries into appropriate refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms via supervisor's instructions.
  • Adhere to client and company protocols related to COVID-19 workplace safety and sanitation standards.
  • The above shall be achieved while providing exceptional customer service in a courteous, helpful manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area via supervisor instruction and applicable health, safety, and food handling regulations.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

This role works closely with faculty and the Dean to support program quality and achieve student learning outcomes. Responsibilities include curriculum oversightsuch as program and course development, curriculum mapping, and updatesalong with the oversight of adjunct faculty and clinical sites. The coordinator also plays a key role in student success by overseeing admissions, progression, and graduation processes, and by supporting continuous improvement efforts related to teaching, learning, and program outcomes. In addition to primary responsibility for the nursing program, the Director for Nursing Education will work closely with the Director for Allied Health Professions to assure compliance with the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) for all continuing education nursing programs including nurse refresher, certified nursing assistant and other continuing education programs requiring MBON approval. The Director of Nursing Education provides strategic and operational support to ensure consistency and efficiency across all nursing and allied health program areas. This includes oversight of course delivery, scheduling, lab and simulation coordination, clinical site management, and ongoing evaluation of program quality and student support services. In partnership with the Dean, the Director addresses faculty, staff, and student concerns while fostering a collaborative, respectful, and student-centered departmental culture. The Johns Hopkins Medicine Simulation Center (JHMSC) is dedicated to supporting the growing use of simulation methodologies in health professions education and professional practice. JHMSC provides consultative and supportive services for simulation-based curriculum development and delivery, assessment, faculty development and system integration for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM) and Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH), and Johns Hopkins Hospital System (JHHS) entities as well as external clients. JHMSC also seeks to improve provider safety and patient care quality through simulation-based research.

We are seeking a Simulation Education Program Manager who will be responsible for maximizing the effectiveness, efficiency, and appeal of the educational experiences provided through the JHMSC. The Manager oversees a team of simulation educators who collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and implement simulation-based learning activities for a wide range of health professionals and trainees. From initial idea to full-fledged curriculum, the Manager is tasked with ensuring sound methodology and outstanding quality at every stage of the process. The manager will oversee the development of curricula across multiple inter-professional disciplines, build and implement a comprehensive plan to assess program effectiveness and competency-based learner outcomes and advance continuing medical education programs of the center. The manager will work closely with the JHMSC leadership to develop world-class educational programs, taught both on-site and off-site to internal and external customers.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Project Management

  • Leads the simulation education team in collaborating with faculty, subject matter experts, program administrators, education staff, and other stakeholders in all aspects of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based activities, addressing education, assessment, research and process improvement needs.
  • Provides direction and leadership to the simulation education team in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities fostering a collaborative team culture, achieving JHMSC goals, supporting ongoing professional development, and performance feedback.
  • Oversees a diverse portfolio of simulation-based educational projects, guiding their development, and implementation within specified timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinates with JHMSC leadership to accomplish the goals, mission and vision of JHMSC.

Program Development

  • Serves as subject matter expert in simulation-based curriculum teaching, assessment and instructional design methods to provide consultation and guidance to faculty, instructors and stakeholders.
  • Leads the formulation and execution of a comprehensive strategic plan for educational initiatives within the simulation center, defining objectives and metrics of success and ensuring alignment with the centers overarching mission.
  • Develops a distance learning service as part of the expanded educational program.
  • Identifies and supports the implementation of new educational technologies and methods to enhance simulation-based learning experiences.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Fosters collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, hospital departments, and educational institutions, to advance simulation in healthcare education, research, and quality improvement endeavors.
  • Collaborates with Johns Hopkins Medicine stakeholders and outside entities to optimize simulation-based instruction, including identification of simulation instructor training needs and leading faculty development to meet those needs, emphasizing best practices in simulation-based teaching, debriefing and assessment methodologies.
  • Develops and manages relationships across Johns Hopkins Medicine entities and JHU to advance training and evaluation efforts.

Evaluation & Quality Assurance

  • Evaluates simulation outcomes comprehensively, analyzing changes in learners' knowledge, skills, team performance, and safety concerns, effectively communicating findings and recommendations.
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards set by accrediting bodies and the simulation center, leveraging data analysis to propose enhancements and drive the development of new, impactful curricula.
  • Supports the attainment and maintenance of relevant educational accrediting bodies requirements.
  • Contributes to the development of self-studies and reviews, completes necessary analyses, and prepares comprehensive reports for outside agencies.

Professional Development

  • Identifies training needs among simulation instructors, trainers and simulation operations teams.
  • Oversees and conducts staff development activities and training to improve simulation-based education, assessment, and research and development efforts of the JHMSC.
  • Mentors and supports simulation educators, faculty, and stakeholders in optimizing simulation methodologies for educational and process improvement purposes.

Working closely with Deans/Directors of Education at the campuses, the RDOE supports the campuses in their efforts to achieve key education targets and assists them by monitoring and managing retention, maintaining compliance in academic areas, driving and assessing the effectiveness of current strategies, identifying areas for improvement and making suggestions and recommendations to Campus Presidents and DOEs. The RDOE is responsible for the oversight and coordination of all the programs and activities that support the academic operations, student education and retention efforts at the assigned campuses. The RDOE also provides the leadership necessary to support the campuses in fulfilling the mission, objectives, plans and goals for all academic courses in diploma and degree programs at the assigned campuses in order to meet the needs of faculty, students and the community it serves.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guides, trains, supports, mentors and empowers the DOEs to be the academic leaders at their respective campuses.
  • Provides campuses with guidance, onsite support and oversight to facilitate the achievement of established academic and operational metrics.
  • Regularly meets with DOEs at their assigned campuses to review their progress in achieving academic metrics and provide constructive feedback to help achieve these metrics.
  • Manages company-wide strategic initiatives as they are implemented at the campuses by assessing the effectiveness of such initiatives and developing improvement plans and actions.
  • Monitors the results of assessments that measure course, student, graduate and faculty satisfaction and provide suggestions and recommendations for improvements.
  • Provides leadership and support in institutional accreditation processes at their respective campuses in matters such as institution/program effectiveness plans, Program Advisory Committee activities and minutes, self-studies, annual reports, and preparation for accreditation visits and subsequent responses.
  • Ensures compliance in region of various company policies and procedures to include academic scheduling in CampusVue, Out-of-class work, attendance, make-up work and attendance as appropriate, grading, SAP, LOA and SPN, externship, etc.
  • Audits faculty files, Faculty Development Plans, student files, academic records such as grades, attendance, externship documentation, SAP, LOA and SPN for compliance.
  • Provides guidance in training and development efforts for Program Directors and faculty, including orientations for Program Directors and faculty, in-service activities, faculty observation, faculty and program director evaluation and annual performance reviews.
  • Observes and provides constructive feedback to DOEs on maintaining an excellent educational environment that is conducive to learning, including the physical conditions of classrooms, labs and facilities and equipment.
  • Serves as interim DOE when necessary.
  • Assists the National Dean of Education and National Dean of Programmatic Education in developing and maintaining resources for training and developing academic staff and faculty members.
  • Performs other work-related duties and special projects as assigned by the VP of Education or the National Dean of Education.

Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:
  • A master degree is required and doctoral degree highly desirable.
  • At least 10 years of proven track record with increasing administrative and operational responsibilities in academic affairs, preferably in a proprietary school setting.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in accreditation and regulatory matters either at the program and campus level or having served as an evaluator for an accrediting body.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills for working with team members to successfully meet goals and deadlines.
  • Solid problem-solving, quantitative and computer skills with strong computer literacy skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas LMS and CampusVue software programs.
  • Able and willing to travel 75% of the work schedule

Under general supervision, represents Baltimore County Public Schools in matters regarding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, mediations, resolution conferences, and due process appeals. Sr. Counsel provides a variety of professional legal services as directed by the Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel.

Responsibilities

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Represents Baltimore County Public Schools in special education mediations and due process hearings. Prepares school staff to participate in mediations and hearings.
  • Evaluates cases and negotiates settlement agreements, requests for attorneys' fees, expert fees, and reimbursements for independent evaluations. Attends Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings to support the team in decision-making.
  • Reviews statutory amendments and regulations, judicial decisions, and federal agency decisions. Keeps current with pertinent legislation, regulations, and case law involving students with disabilities. Provides clarification and procedural updates for special education staff and school administrators.
  • Coordinates and conducts in-service training related to procedural safeguards and team processes. Serves as a consultant to schools to ensure compliance with laws and regulations regarding students with disabilities and their parents. Assists teachers and administrators in responding to student and parental concerns.
  • Responds to complaints regarding special education and student related Section 504 issues. Conducts legal research on issues raised in complaints, formulates legal opinions and provides advice.
  • Represents the Superintendent in administrative hearings, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:
  • Possession of a juris doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.
  • Three years professional experience in the practice of law which includes experience with legal issues involving students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with litigation, negotiation, mediation, and administrative hearings.
  • Experience with general education law preferred.
Note: Other combination of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Admission to the Bar of Maryland is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Skill and ability to use a personal computer, including spreadsheet, database and word processing programs (Microsoft Office preferred).
  • Knowledge of legal research (Westlaw or Lexis-Nexis), legal terminology, Maryland administrative law and appeal process, and statutes and regulations.
