Job Description

League School for Autism is an award-winning, year-round program dedicated to the education of children on the autism spectrum. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Education for our Pathfinders program.

League School offers an array of programs to meet the needs of students with autism. Employing the SCERTS Model as an overarching framework, each of the League School's day and residential programs is designed to teach social, academic, behavioral, and community-life skills based on a student's age and ability. These programs range from functional academics to grade-level curricula as well as the vocational training and daily living skills to meet the individual strengths and needs of League's widely diverse student population.

Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree and MA license in administration and special education, moderate disabilities, preferred.
  • One to three years of administrative experience.
  • Five years' experience with autistic population, preferably high school and vocational students.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, supervisory, and administrative skills.
  • CPR, First Aid, Safety Care
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must pass rigorous background checks, including nationwide fingerprint screening.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  1. Provides supervision to the assigned team including Education Coordinator, SLP, OT, BCBA and Clinician including training, annual evaluations, observation, and weekly meetings.
  2. Ensures supervisees have access to clinical supervision within area of licensure and informs Chief Operating Officer of any concerns.
  3. Works with the Admissions Coordinator to complete tours and assess intakes for student candidates for the program as assigned.
  4. Coordinates with the Administrative, Clinical, Allied Health, and Residential Management teams to provide clinical input and insight on program development and strategic planning.
  5. Plans and develops staff training and professional development with the Director of Education and Manager of Training and Teacher Mentoring.
  6. Works with the Director of Education to review compliance with DESE and EEC regulations.
  7. Carries out administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Education and Chief Operating Officer.
  8. Oversees maintenance of database for MCAS and Program specific grades as appropriate.
  9. Attends, and contributes to, committee meetings as assigned by the Director of Education.
  10. Oversees the Curriculum Mapper Program, making changes to the site as needed.
  11. Attends various job fairs and conferences, as needed, to assist in the recruitment of staff and students or to exhibit.
  12. In conjunction with the Clinical Director, supervises college/graduate student observations and interns/student teachers.
  13. Works with the Director of Education and other Directors to ensure new staff complete orientation training and all current staff are up to date.
  14. Attends IEP meetings assigned by the Director of Education.
  15. Supports the Education Coordinators to maintain updated school forms on all students, e.g., Emergency Contact Forms, Medical Consent Forms, and all Release Forms including Bullying Policy.
  16. Creates master matrix of coverage needs for assigned program. Maintains and monitors coverage schedule for both lunch and recess. Provides coverage in emergency situations when necessary.
  17. Ensures the provision of services is delivered to all students and families in a respectful and dignified manner. Students should receive educational services in an environment free of abuse and neglect and with respect to their human rights.
  18. For residential students, ensures cross programmatic cooperation and implementation of IEP goals, behavior plans, etc.
  19. Works as a team player. Participates in (and/or facilitates) supervision, administrative meetings, classroom conferences, and staff meetings. Comes prepared with agenda and ready to discuss issues and solutions.
  20. Completes paperwork for individual students or staff as needed.
  21. Approves/rejects time-off requests for supervisees, with attention toward staff coverage.
  22. Participates in all trainings, as required by League School.
  23. Updates DESE training modules.
  24. Maintains resources for staff training opportunities.
  25. Monitors annual budget, including monthly reconciliation of expenditures.
  26. Performs other related duties as designated by the Director of Education or Chief Operating Officer that are deemed necessary for the operation of the school e.g., Open House, evening trainings, Parent Conferences, etc.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite.

Job Summary:

The Bilingual Peer Support Coordinator - Special Education, will provide comprehensive supports and a continuum of services for families as it relates to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The position requires a focus on collaboration with the increasing family/school partnerships, and creating awareness of parental/caregiver rights in the educational success for students with disabilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Mentor families encountering special education concerns; assist families with navigating the education/special education system and community resources. Utilize motivational interviewing skills and culturally sensitive methods to support members in achieving their goals.
  • Provide support, information, and leadership skills to families through phone, face-to-face, and virtual contact to enhance their ability to effectively engage inschool leadership activities. Accompany families to Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and other relevant meetings as needed.
  • Provide referrals and care-coordination to RIPIN programs and/or other community organizations as needed to assist families and individuals with successfully completing goals. Collaborate with RIPIN staff to avoid duplication of service.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with professionals, families, partner agencies and organizations. Promote all RIPIN services to families,community organizations, and schools.
  • Represent RIPIN on local, state, and federal special education and transition to adulthood related committees as needed.
  • Facilitate education and/or advocacy workshops for families, consumers, professionals, and community partners as needed.
  • Maintain an updated database of all contacts, encounters and record committee activities accurately. Actively participate as effective team member in all agency meetings and debriefings. Make constructive use of individual and peer supervision.
  • Contribute to the overall success and quality of the agency by working constructively and collaboratively with other staff members ensuring all individuals are treated respectfully and that diversity in backgrounds and life experiences is supported and valued throughout the agency.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of education, special education in Rhode Island including transition of students age 14 - 22.
  • Knowledge of Rhode Island's human service systems supporting families of children with disabilities and/or special healthcare needs
  • High level of interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills to interact on a professional level with our diverse stakeholders, including parents and professionals
  • Ability to convey complex information in a clear and understandable manner
  • Organizational skills to include managing multiple activities

+ Supports agents, business and brand initiatives, especially as related to achieving outstanding client experiences, including engaged daily floor support, escalated customer resolution and engagement in training and support areas as needed.
+ Remains alert to conversations on the floor, monitoring agents for quality and training purposes.
+ Reviews new and updated accounts with Agents (one-on-one).
+ Ensures agents compliance with policies and procedures.
+ Provides direction to agents on achieving departmental standards while encouraging and motivating them in promoting customer loyalty, employee recognition, and revenue generation.
+ Monitors call traffic and makes adjustments based on call center traffic patterns.
+ Produces monthly team report detailing team activity, trend analysis, goals/objective status and special projects.
+ Actively participates in process / project conversations, emails and activities that will improve effectiveness/experience for client, agents, leadership, brands or partner departments
+ Displays ownership and accountability for the customer experience, employee relations, core business metric targets/ contributing factors and understanding of the organizations policies and procedures.
+ Maintains reliability and flexibility to ensure team and business needs are appropriately supported.
+ Delegates work to agents as needed.
+ Proactively addresses call center concerns and identifies areas of opportunity.
+ Handles system emergencies with direction from IT department and/or appropriate vendor.

Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship.
**Additional Qualifications**
+ Must have an active pharmacy technician licensure or registration in accordance with state requirements.
+ If state does not require an exam for licensure/registration, must possess both active pharmacy technician licensure or registration in accordance with state requirements AND an active national certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT).
+ In states that do not require licensure or registration, must have an active national certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT).
+ Active pharmacist license supersedes requirement for CPT and/or PTCB.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high volume call center and Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) experience required.
+ For positions supporting Medicare Part B, requires 2+ years of experience in Medicare Part B.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 1 year of leadership/management experience in a direct or indirect capacity.
+ Client facing or client management experience preferred.
