The Director of Teacher Education in the School of Educational Studies provides critical work for teacher education processes and program leadership. This position facilitates and completes all mandated state, federal, and UW data reporting for SES teacher and principal preparation programs, leads the School of Educational Studies teacher certification programs, and liaises with school district, community, and state partners central to teacher certification processes.
The Director of Teacher Education supports certification processes to current/former SES students as well as provides front-facing support with our school district community partners (teachers and HR personnel). All data reporting and policy compliance are facilitated by this role with our PESB, WACTE, and OSPI colleagues. This role also ensures that our teacher education programs are best meeting the needs of our diverse teacher education candidates in terms of program structure, curriculum, and community partnerships.

_We have three openings - at the Springbrook location in Seattle._ The Professional Coding Education Specialist will support activities related to educating billing providers i.e., physicians, PhDs & APPs on complete and accurate professional coding and coding-related processes, in collaboration with professional coding and charge capture, professional billing, professional compliance, and CUMG leadership teams.
Develop educational materials and standard procedures. Communicate coding and billing updates to clinical leaders and providers. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholder groups. Partner with billing teams in researching professional coding-related error patterns, denial issues, and trends relating to coding accuracy opportunities for providers.
Serve as a subject matter expert on professional coding and payment methodologies as it relates to coded data and reimbursement outcomes. Lead professional coding improvement work, including development and tracking of metrics.
**_The position is 60% remote/hybrid - one to two days in office per week,_** **_remote for Washington State Only._**
**Required Education and Experience**
Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field or equivalent relevant work experience.
Minimum of five years of experience in professional coding in an acute care hospital setting or clinic setting appropriate equivalent.
Proficient knowledge base and experience in interpreting and applying federal/government regulations to ensure coding and documentation compliance.
**Required Credentials**
Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P) certification by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) **or** Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

In collaboration with the rest of the Experiential Education (EE) team, this position is responsible for managing relationships and supporting operations for practice-based learning experiences of the PharmD curriculum, introducing patient-centered and operational on-site EE opportunities to students. This position manages relationships for Wednesdays in Practice (WIPs), Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Experiences (APPEs), including primary management of internal and external stakeholders. This involves recruitment of EE sites and partners, conducting site visits, relationship management, educating key stakeholders, and handling and triaging student and preceptor concerns. students on academic progress matters and EE opportunities, policies, and procedures; troubleshoots emergent issues involving students and preceptors; leads the learning environment and site quality program; and manages relationships between the School and clinical training sites.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Student, Preceptor, and Site Engagement and Support (70%)
- Manage relationships for Wednesdays in Practice (WIPs), Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Experiences (APPEs), including primary management of internal and external stakeholders. This involves recruitment of EE sites and partners, conducting site visits, relationship management, educating key stakeholders, and handling and triaging student and preceptor concerns.
- Recruit new preceptors and orient them to practice experiences and our curriculum
- Represent the School & EE on regular visits to experiential sites to check in with students and preceptors as part of monitoring quality of practice experiences, and at regional conferences and consortium meetings as required
- Craft and deliver timely and engaging communications for students, preceptors, and site administrators related to important programmatic updates
- Collect, review, and resolve concerns from students and preceptors, and troubleshoot and triage as needed
- Identify and assist with improvements in operational strategy for EE and particularly how it relates to stakeholder management. Identify areas for improvement in EE, and make recommendations for changes in operations
- Advise and orient students on WIPs, IPPEs, and APPEs through class presentations, one-on-one meetings, and written communication
- Monitor student progress in WIPs, IPPEs, and APPEs; follow up with students who are not making satisfactory progress or are experiencing other issues. Communicate with the Director of Student Affairs, Mental Health Liaison and Counselor regarding time-sensitive and/or challenging situations involving students who need support
- Develop and communicate EE Completion Plans for students who experience progression delays in consultation with the EE team and Academic Affairs
Operations Management (30%)
- Participate in the annual review of practice sites and preceptors for quality assurance, identify areas where attention is needed, and ensure appropriate follow-up is completed
- Assist in the management of records in the tracking and placement of students in EE
- Suggest and assist with revising policies and procedures related to practice experiences in collaboration with others in the School
- Maintain and update course policies, competencies, and other documents related to pharmacy practice experiences
- Use CORE, CastleBranch, and CPNW with full functionality to maintain information, operations, and to generate relevant reports as needed.
- Serve as back-up with the process of onboarding and compliance for incoming students and students completing experiences at practice
- Serve as back-up in the process of developing, maintaining, and updating Affiliation Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding, working with experiential site representatives and the Attorney General's UW office as needed.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Humanities, Human Resources, Social Work, Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Business, Communications, or related fields
- At least three years of experience in program operations, project management, or in managing and/or recruiting preceptors.
_Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._ **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Demonstrated ability to work well in teams and as a team facilitator
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools (especially Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask across a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage, interpret, and process large volumes of complex data within a limited timeframe (e.g., extract relevant data points from lengthy email threads, filter and sort data contained in spreadsheets, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex policies and apply them to individual situations
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to think critically when approaching complex problems
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Previous experience in a healthcare or higher education setting
- Understanding of experiential education, particularly in pharmacy education or other health professions
- Experience with student advising in higher education or professional school setting?
- Familiarity with student information systems used for tracking and managing sensitive data
- Experience with UW SDB, Canvas, SharePoint, CORE ELMS, Salesforce, and any CRM software
