The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Office of International Education invites applicants for a full-time grant funded position with benefits. Continuation of the position is based on renewal of funding.
The Program Specialist will work with the Director of Global Opportunities to support existing global learning academic programs and assist in the management and development of new programs, including credit and non-credit bearing programs. The Program Specialist provides critical support to current students. The Program Specialist duties include program planning, implementation, budgeting, and staff management, ensuring programs run smoothly and effectively. Analyzes and resolves problems through drawing from prior experiences. Assists the director in creating global learning policies. Demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge in one or more geographic area and is bilingual in a critical need language. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
The role involves overseeing all aspects of planning, design, and execution of assigned small, routine projects and coordinating with project stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables. The Program Specialist will assist in timeline development, ensure adherence to timeframes, and adjust project deliverables to avoid issues. This position will support the development, budgeting, and contracting of new semester, summer, and short-term global programs. This position will also perform budgetary functions and assist with external consultant and vendor selection, negotiation, and management. The role requires tracking project progress, maintaining accurate records and files, and providing detailed reports to senior management.
