Job Summary
As a school nurse, you will be required to promote disease prevention, health, and well-being among the student population you serve. As part of these responsibilities, you will be expected to keep records of students' immunizations and relevant health histories. Your students will vary in age from grades K-12, depending on the school to which you will be assigned within the district.
In addition to basic first aid, you will need to meet the unique healthcare needs of students within your school. These needs may be related to any number of chronic health conditions, such as food allergies, asthma, or diabetes. Any care provided to students will need to be consistent with their individual education plans ( IEPs ), individual healthcare plans ( IHPs ), and/ or 504 plans when applicable.
Depending on students' unique health conditions, you may be required to provide a wide range of care that could include respiratory treatments or maintenance of equipment such as catheters, gastric tubes, tracheostomies, or ventilators. You will also be required to manage the administration of medication, both for routine and emergency purposes. CSNs are required to ensure necessary paperwork and authorization is in place to store and administer students' medication.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Science (B . S . ) degree from an accredited nursing program
Experience
- 1-3 years experience minimum as an RN in a school setting preferred
Licensure and Certifications
- Registered Nurse Licensure within the state of practice
- Certified School Nurse (CSN) through the National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN)
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification

JOB SPECIFICATION
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
THE POSITION
Under the supervision of the Director Special Education and under the professional direction of a California credentialed District nurse. Collaborates with an educational team to provide individual, in-depth assessment of children to evaluate and administer educationally related occupational therapy services to students with various disabilities in accordance with the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). May oversee the work of occupational therapy assistants. The employee shall also do other job related work as required.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director Special Education
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An employee in this class is expected to handle a variety of assignments that relate to individual students' specialized needs and related disabilities. They are expected to work independently assessing student needs, developing and implementing training for staff members; and providing services to students on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting to pre-kindergarten student through age 22 according to Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and goals. Lead the educational team to assess students to determine the nature and extend of motor disabilities. The occupational therapist has a broad scope of evaluative tasks in the development, planning and assessment of therapy programs.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive:
• Collaborates with Tran disciplinary team members to provide individual, in-depth assessment of children to determine the nature and extent of motor handicaps.
• Assesses students' abilities and performance in activities that are related to the curriculum and applicable to activities of daily living.
• Writes assessment reports describing the motor development of young children.
• Provides on-site interpretation and summaries of assessment results to parents, and facilitates family identification of service plan and goals.
• Participates in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meeting to develop/update annual goals and short-term objectives.

• Recommends appropriate materials designed to facilitate development.

Typical qualifying experience would include: one year of recent, full-time equivalent, paid, supervised experience in occupational therapy, including pediatrics and sensory motor evaluation and training, experience working in a variety of settings including clinic, school, and home, and experience working as a member of a transdisciplinary team. Additional experience working collaboratively with families, and in teaching, is desirable.
LICENSE
• Verification of certification by the National Board of Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is required prior to appointment.
• A valid California driver's license is required at the time of appointment.

EXAMINATION
The examination may begin with a formal evaluation of the application materials. Examples of Additional Essential Duties
• Depending on the Area of assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Plans, develops and coordinates Computer Based Training programs and other computer-related training needs for the Department utilizing Learning Management Systems Software and Content Development Software.
• Consults with supervisory and management staff to interpret subject matter and develop course content.
• Edits and modifies program materials according to specific legislative changes or other necessary requirements; develops instructions and screen dynamics; creates appropriate graphics to reinforce content.
•Receive, log, and route user calls for assistance or repair; monitor trouble call/resolution information; follow up on and report aged calls to ensure a timely response.
•Inform and train users in a web browser and software operation; analyze and make recommendations on response time, training design, user support needs, or customer satisfaction
•Prepare training, support, technical documentation, and procedures for educational and staff development.
•Manage and support Learning Management Systems environment similar to: (Moodle, Health Stream, Sakai. EdApp, etc.)
•Troubleshoot Learning Management System (LMS) issues; provide resolution to desktop communication problems and remote system connections; troubleshoot software, and web (browser) errors, account management, and coach users in correcting reported problems.
•Front-End web development, to locate, design and use graphics, multi-media elements, and links in web page design; map and maintain consistency in the flow of the site; evaluate use and usability of assigned sites.
•Maintain the integrity of site information (i.e., updated data, relevant links) updating content, and system changes.
•Develop quality and content standards based on industry standards, management preferences, and available resources.
•Plan and coordinate multi-media productions, using videos, presentation programs (Adobe Captivate, Power-Point, etc.), audio & video editing, media, and printed communication.
•Plan, develop, and produce multimedia programs for educational, public information, and training purposes; consult with management, training, and technical staff to determine goals and objectives, and the content and format of planned multimedia programs
•Perform post-production work such as editing, sound recording, dubbing and mixing, special effects, titles and graphic, narration, and duplication of completed programs
•Operate video and sound recorders and other production and editing equipment; perform routine maintenance and minor repair work on media equipment; clean and repair equipment as necessary OPTION I Experience: Two years as a Training Officer or Senior Training Officer with Riverside County.
OPTION II Experience: Two years of planning, filming, developing, and editing videos, online training, and/or blended learning. Experience with eLearning authoring tools and video production software and applications (such as Adobe Premier, Adobe Audition, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Captivate, Final Cut Pro, PowToon, etc.).
OPTION III Experience: Three years of planning, developing and conducting staff development and/or training for staff.

Knowledge of: The principles of staff development and training; principles, methods and techniques used in developing the application of software for training; video production software (such as Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro, etc.) and video development; employee training resources and trends; techniques and methods of orientation and in-service training; methods and techniques of evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
