The Electrician will assist their designated warehouse in the performance of their job duties, such as installing solar systems, and possess a Master or Journeyman's electrical license.
Job duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Vast knowledge of the National Electrical Code, troubleshooting, and layout
- Able to read drawings and electrical single line diagrams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Attention to detail
- Outstanding work ethic
- Ability to work in extreme environments (e.g., hot sun, cold), proficiency in installing all types of grid-tied inverters, and able to work with various ground and roof mount racking systems
- Knowledge of NEC codes related to PV installations
- Must be very organized and able to meet timeline expectations; must deliver a high level of customer service
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, willing and able to climb ladders and work on high roofs
- Ensure quality control of solar installations
- Maintain and promote strong morale among the installation team
- Provide ongoing feedback and support to improve installation processes

Responsibilities
The Electrician supports the electrical and mechanical systems of the campus through preventative and reactive maintenance.
Electrical Work:
- Responds to work requests via work order system and radio related to the loss of power. Trouble-shoots issues and restores power.
- Traces, tests, and trouble-shoots circuits ranging in voltage from 120 to 480; replaces electrical panels, breakers and other electrical equipment.
- Installs new electrical circuits (in EMT & MC cable); Assists with the layout of electrical circuit remodeling projects; performs wiring and circuitry used for motors and related controls; works with motors both in single-phase and three phase systems.
- Assists student groups and other campus departments with the set-up of temporary power for large events.
- Maintains street lamps and outside lighting; replaces light bulbs, photo-cell components and ballasts.
General Building Maintenance:
- Assists with the general repair and maintenance of campus facilities in the areas of plumbing, fire safety, HVAC and kitchen equipment, and general maintenance.
Safety and Training:
- Follows building codes and operates tools and equipment safely.
- Follows departmental, College, and OSHA policies and procedures to ensure safe practices.
- Participates in required, monthly safety training meetings; participates in equipment operation training, as appropriate.
Administrative Duties:
- Retrieves new work via electronic database; closes work orders in system when work is complete.
- Keeps an inventory of stock materials and works with the team lead and shop manager to ensure materials needed are ordered.
- Maintains work vehicle and ensures it's in functional working order.
Risk Management & Stewardship of College Property:All employees in Facilities Services are expected to protect and maintain all College property and the people who come to SMC to learn, live, work and visit.Therefore, the following are required:
- Proactively identify, report or resolve any and all safety issues as quickly as possible;
- Proactively identify issues related to code compliance and report them to the appropriate supervisor or Director as soon as possible;
- Ensure the campus is clean and orderly; return furnishings and other equipment to their places when moved by members of the community or after scheduled events;
- Take care to ensure College property is not compromised due to propped doors, broken locks, or left out in the rain or weather. Work proactively to reduce opportunities for theft and vandalism;
- Ensure that our campus facilities achieve the greatest amount of "up time," meaning all services and utilities provided shall have minimal disruption in service. Disruptions in service shall be well-planned with constituent groups and result in the least impact to the campus.
Experience and Qualifications
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED
Education Preferred: Electrical Apprentice/ Trade School
Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience working in the electrical trade.
Skills/ Abilities: Ability to read, write and speak English. Must have some basic computer skills for the use of email and the electronic work order system. Must be able to use trade-specific tools and have an understanding of the building/ electrical codes.
Other: The Facilities Services department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Therefore, swing, weekend, and emergency shifts are required. Facilities Services employees are considered critical employees and will be required to assist the College in the event of campus emergencies. Must have clean driving record/ability to be insured by the College.

We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented Electrician to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy.
The Electrician reports to the Electrical Shop Team Leader. This team plans and executes all electrical work for the refinery. The successful candidate will work to install, troubleshoot, and maintain components of all power and electrical control systems in an industrial setting. This includes maintenance and installation of switch gears, power breakers, transformers, protective relays, motors, controls, conduit systems, and terminations of various types of cable.
An understanding of the National Electrical Code and application of Electrical Safe Work Practices are core expectations for this position.
Job Responsibilities May Include:
- Installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining components of all power and electrical control systems. Including Motors, Safety Critical Devices and motor operated valves.
- Operating test equipment to include multi-meters, meggers, rotation testers, and high potential testers
- Performing mechanical procedures while documenting and maintaining accurate information
- Interpreting blueprints, loop drawings, and electrical schematics
- Operating refinery vehicles, hand tools, and equipment including power lift equipment and man lifts
- Performs preventative maintenance on power and control systems

What Will I Do?
As a Residential Electrician you will be installing electrical equipment in our clients homes.
Troubleshooting electrical sub-panelService equipment and main disconnect switchesSetting up temporary powerInstall/replace new electrical sub-panelService equipment and main disconnect switchesInstall/replace meter main panels up to 200A single phasePerform repairs consistent with and exceeding National Electric Code standardsSuggest the best options to help clients with their electrical needsPerform home inspectionsIncrease Client loyalty by maintaining clean work areaProvide Clients with exceptional customer serviceMaintain work truck and keep company vehicles organized and neat at all timesFollow National Electric Code
QualificationsDo I have What it Takes?
Minimum of 6 months electrical experience required. (residential, new construction, solar preferred)
- Keeping safety top of mind on every call
- Working knowledge of installing electrical systems in a new and existing setting
- Detail oriented with good time management skills
- Can lift, carry, and maneuver a minimum of 75 pounds without additional manpower or appropriate device
- Must be able to work in the outside elements of heat and cold safely and on ladders and/or roofs medium to high heights
- Maintain well-groomed appearance and keep a clean uniform and work shoes
Hourly: $26-$28 per hour plus production bonus opportunity
