Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Scope of Position:**
Field Engineer(s) provide on-site and remote technical assistance globally to both internal and external customers and support field projects, training classes, corporate owned manufacturing facilities, Product Line Management, and Commercial Sales and Marketing.
**Day to Day Responsibilities:**
+ Master optical test and splice equipment and procedures required to perform work you're leading.
+ Travel to customer sites to install, test, and document fiber optic communication systems.
+ Perform as a Project Leader with the responsibility for coordinating and executing all facets of a fiber optic network installation.
+ Instruct fiber optic training courses at various Corning locations, regional locations, and at customer sites.
+ Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers via the Technical Support Line.
+ Provide on-site technical assistance and solving problems for various Corning customers at various locations.
+ Complete on-site investigations of potential product issues raised by customers.
+ Act as the primary means of field remediation to resolve quality issues at customer sites.
+ Conduct product evaluations on both Corning and competitor products.
+ Actively pursue, obtain and report competitive information to Product Line Management, Manufacturing and Sales/Marketing.
+ Provide recommendations to Sales, Manufacturing and Field Engineering to solve quality and/or field related problems.
+ Coordinate project and support-related travel and logistical activities and plans as assigned.
+ Travel to manufacturing facilities when needed to share technical knowledge of product deficiencies witnessed in the field.
+ Provide global technical support of HSDC's.
**Required Education:**
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical field from a recognized college or university.
+ Will consider degree in Physics, Math, Computer Science, or similar subject areas.
+ Prefer degree in Engineering degrees in; Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or similar subject areas.
**Desired Experience:**
+ Technical writing ability, with emphasis on effective presentation of detailed concepts.
+ Knowledge of construction and project planning procedures.
+ Some related work experience and/or military background in telecommunications.
+ Prior supervisory / functional management experience - or - training.
+ Fluent Language Skills in Spanish, French or Portuguese (written and spoken) a plus.

The range for this position is $60,410.00 - $83,065.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The Field Engineer has a degree in Engineering or Construction Management. Control Systems Field Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Field Engineer to support the startup, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of control systems software. This role requires strong technical expertise and a client-focused mindset, with regular interaction on-site with both internal teams and customers.

Candidates must be open to traveling up to 75% regionally.

Qualifications:

• 5 to 7 years of experience in PLC, SCADA, or Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Proficiency in BACnet and at least one major control systems platform.
• Experience in systems engineering or technical lead roles preferred.
• Familiarity with industry programming languages and networking protocols.
• Certifications in control systems software are a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

UL Field Engineering Team is hiring in the Raleigh/Sanfor, NC area. A Field Engineer performs safety and non-safety certification inspections, audits of quality systems and field evaluations in accordance with the required performance standards and requirements. UL Solutions' Field Engineering team works on-site with our customers to understand their needs and how they meet the market's needs. What we offer:
+ Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career . The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $85,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. **Position Description:**
The Field Engineer (FE) works directly for the Superintendent and is expected to exercise judgment and discretion in making recommendations, implementing policies and procedures and handling a wide variety of matters in the field. The position is normally, but not necessarily preparatory to becoming an Office Engineer or Project Engineer. The primary purpose of the position is to proactively aid the Superintendent in front-line field management. In addition, the position requires a considerable amount of work, responsibility, persistence, problem solving ability and good attitude, because the FE is responsible for the majority of the layout on a project, supervision of trade workers and subcontractor employees, as well as lift drawings, safety, and quality control responsibilities. Although the majority of a Field Engineer's time will be spent in the field, there are some duties which will require work in the field office. This is a safety sensitive position.
**Position Qualifications:**
+ A 4 -year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture or Construction Management.
+ Valid Driver's License.
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, ProjectSight, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Past internships in the construction industry are preferred, but not required.
**Essential Duties:**
+ Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
+ Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction, including all embedded items, before placement of concrete.
+ Perform production trend analysis for quantities of work in place and report for the weekly and monthly schedule and cost control reports.
+ Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the project superintendent. May include directing a small work force to gain supervisory experience.
+ Coordinate material deliveries by checking material requirements in advance and comparing with the delivery status. Additionally, inspect materials delivered to the job for quantity, quality and condition, and report on missing and/or damaged items.
+ Assist foremen and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.
+ Oversight of trade partners, as assigned, and direction of workforces (e.g., a labor crew) of employees or trade partner employees to gain supervisory experience.
+ Participate in jobsite safety meetings, weekly safety audits, etc.
+ Collaborate with the VDC team on VDC scope of work, execution plan and deliverables related to field operations. Review and navigate within the current 3D model viewing and scheduling software.

UL Field Engineering Team is hiring in the Raleigh/Sanfor, NC area. A Field Engineer performs safety and non-safety certification inspections, audits of quality systems and field evaluations in accordance with the required performance standards and requirements. UL Solutions' Field Engineering team works on-site with our customers to understand their needs and how they meet the market's needs. We help to ensure that all certified products continue to comply with UL Solutions' requirements and partner with customers to help them meet their changing needs.
+ Assists in analyzing and evaluating examination and test results against applicable requirements.
+ Uses technical judgement to determine whether noncompliance variations compromise the continued application of the UL Mark and determine if alternative is achieved.
+ Assists in interpreting and analyzing examination and test results against UL requirements, verifying the accuracy of manufacturers' measuring equipment and reviewing production and inspection records.
+ Periodically reviews manufacturers' programs of production, inspection, and shipping to ensure products are produced and marked in compliance with UL requirements.
+ Evaluates and facilitates options for corrective action where variations from UL requirements are noted.
+ Communicates with manufacturers and customers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction and others to conduct non-safety and safety certification inspections. Investigates misuse of UL Mark situations.
+ Provide general information on policies and procedures for the varied UL services along with promoting and explaining the benefits of new and existing services.
+ Discuss procedures, test methods, test results, sample selection and variations in products, devices, processes, systems and materials as necessary to resolve problems, implement changes to existing requirements or help develop new requirements.
+ Use instruments to perform inspections, such as micrometers, voltmeters, ammeters, and other UL supplied equipment. Observes use of manufacturer's equipment necessary to meet UL requirements. Confirms proper calibration of manufacturers' measuring equipment and may perform calibration of UL supplied equipment.
+ Document examination, variations and test results to appropriate UL forms. Maintains logs for scheduling inspections, time and expenses. Performs various calculations in more than one specific engineering field such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, or fire protection.

+ University Degree or Equivalent Technical Certification (preferred) in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics. **Position Description:**
The Field Engineer (FE) works directly for the Superintendent and is expected to exercise judgment and discretion in making recommendations, implementing policies and procedures and handling a wide variety of matters in the field. The position is normally, but not necessarily preparatory to becoming an Office Engineer or Project Engineer. The primary purpose of the position is to proactively aid the Superintendent in front-line field management. In addition, the position requires a considerable amount of work, responsibility, persistence, problem solving ability and good attitude, because the FE is responsible for the majority of the layout on a project, supervision of trade workers and subcontractor employees, as well as lift drawings, safety, and quality control responsibilities. Although the majority of a Field Engineer's time will be spent in the field, there are some duties which will require work in the field office. This is a safety sensitive position.
**Position Qualifications:**
+ A 4 -year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture or Construction Management.
+ Valid Driver's License.
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, ProjectSight, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Past internships in the construction industry are preferred, but not required.
**Essential Duties:**
+ Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
+ Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction, including all embedded items, before placement of concrete.
+ Perform production trend analysis for quantities of work in place and report for the weekly and monthly schedule and cost control reports.
+ Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the project superintendent. May include directing a small work force to gain supervisory experience.
+ Coordinate material deliveries by checking material requirements in advance and comparing with the delivery status. Additionally, inspect materials delivered to the job for quantity, quality and condition, and report on missing and/or damaged items.
+ Assist foremen and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.
+ Oversight of trade partners, as assigned, and direction of workforces (e.g., a labor crew) of employees or trade partner employees to gain supervisory experience.
+ Participate in jobsite safety meetings, weekly safety audits, etc.
+ Collaborate with the VDC team on VDC scope of work, execution plan and deliverables related to field operations. Review and navigate within the current 3D model viewing and scheduling software.
