Westchester Health Network is seeking an Obstetrician Gynecologist to join our practices based in Rockland and Orange Counties, NY. This is a general OB/GYN group with three offices, seven physicians and 2 nurse practitioners. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a well-established and respected group practice with a presence serving the Rockland and Orange County communities at Good Samaritan Hospital for over 50 years. Newly trained candidates are welcome to apply and take advantage of the collegial atmosphere and opportunity for learning and growth with our providers. Clinical responsibilities will include inpatient obstetrical and urgent/emergent gynecology services, outpatient office practice for prenatal care, routine and urgent gynecological care and office-based procedures. Participation in teaching medical students in the inpatient and outpatient settings is expected, as well as participation in regularly scheduled departmental meetings.

The practice and hospital provide level II maternal care in a community setting and are part of the large academic network of Westchester Medical Center, which serves as our regional perinatal center. Good Samaritan Hospital is a 275-bed facility with an academic affiliation with New York Medical College. The hospital's obstetrical service is one of the largest in the region, with 3600 deliveries per year, and consistently out-performs comparable facilities in most metrics most notably with low Cesarean delivery and elective delivery rates. The hospital is equipped with two DaVinci robotic systems, as well as minimally invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgical equipment with a state-of -the-art ambulatory surgery center on campus.

4. Clinical Responsibilities
- Manages the flow of patients for assigned providers. Monitors the progress of provider. Identifies the next patient scheduled to go into the room based on policy and retrieves that patient from the waiting area using appropriate patient identification technique. Introduces self and escorts patient to exam room.
- Patient Preparation Procedures:
- Clean room prior to patient entry into room
- Two identifiers for patient identification
- Instructs patient to change in to exam gown when appropriate
- Questions and completes with patient all screening tools in the EMR.
- Accurately performs and records vital signs including blood pressure
- Performs Phlebotomy including finger sticks.
- Performs vision and hearing testing.
- Performs blood glucose testing using a glucometer.
- Instructs patients and obtains specimens, sputum, urine and stool.
- Assists patients in the use of assisted devices that include walkers, canes and crutches.
- Transports patients, slips, specimens and materials to and from areas.
- Prepares and maintains work areas with supplies. Assists with taking inventory of supplies.
- Reports changes in patient's conditions to the Registered Nurse.
- Prepares patient for examination and assists provider during examination.
- Performs simple unsterile dressings.
- Obtains and records patients' weight and height accurately.
- Assists patient in use of incentive spirometer.
5. Accountability / Work Ethic
- Demonstrates an understanding of the organization fire/safety plan, emergency preparedness plan and patient safety goals
- Removes and or reports broken or damaged equipment promptly
- Checks alarm settings on medical devices and ensures they are audible.
- Checks code cart/defibrillator based on hospital policy. Ensures that all institutional logs are updated as per policy.
- Participates in fire drills and emergency drills as per hospital policy.
- Handles and properly disposes of regulated medical waste as per hospital policy.
- Wears employee ID badge at all times.
- Complies with the organizational procedures with respect to absences, lateness and timeliness of meal breaks.
6. Customer Service
- Complies with patient right standards and confidentiality; maintains patients' need for privacy, respect and dignity.
- Practices infectious control standards.
- Assesses physical environment and reports conditions that negatively impact on safety.
- Communicates effectively with patients.
7. Education / Development / Responsibilities
- Attends all mandatory educational sessions appropriate to the area/unit.
- Complies with hospital required competencies including skills and HealthStream modules.
- Identifies learning needs and seeks opportunity to address.
- Two to three (2-3) years experience in an acute, chronic or ambulatory care setting. Completed Patient Care Technician Course.
- BLS
- Certification of PCT (Phlebotomy / EKG) completion
- High School or GED
- Computer Knowledge
