As a **Healthcare Representative** , you will interview and advocate for patients and their families to obtain maximum benefit coverage in a hospital or healthcare setting
This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Interview patients in a hospital setting and work effectively with hospital personnel to assist patients with obtaining maximum benefit coverage
+ Complete applications for state and federal programs (including Health Exchange/Marketplace programs)
+ Review medical records and take all necessary actions to expedite benefit approval
+ Adhere to company and legal standards regarding Protected Health Information (PHI), Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and Personnel Transaction Identifier (PTI)
+ Maintain ongoing communication with government agencies regarding the status of claims
+ Provide updates and assistance to hospital personnel and other Optum staff as needed
+ Maintain documentation of status of claims and client contract on Optum and/or hospital computer systems
+ Determine when to use a Federal, State or Local program application based upon medical definition of disability as it relates to body systems and to functions of daily living, and information contained in medical records.
+ Willing to work in a fast-paced hospital or healthcare environment

**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience

+ Ability to work on site our Medical Center located at 489 State Street Bangor, ME 04401

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Oversee the daily operations of a call center team to ensure performance metrics are met.

- Maintain updated knowledge of the Call Center performance requirements as well as corporate and project policies and procedures. Provide updates to staff regarding these policies and procedures.

- Evaluate the need for training to ensure that staff maintains current knowledge of multiple programs.

- Address inadequate quality issues with Supervisory team in relation to reviews and corrections of calls monitored.

- Monitor performance goals and objectives for the call center staff and complete daily and weekly reports.

- Provide leadership with updates on all issues regarding quality, training, policy, procedures, staff issues and departmental performance levels.

- Monitor call center compliance with ISO standards as applicable.

- Implement necessary corrective actions to ensure consistent application of all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures pertinent to the Call Center.

- Monitor and evaluate performance, write performance appraisals, and provide corrective actions as needed.

- Responsible for identifying and resolving issues, problems, and concerns with employees.

- Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures and assist in the implementation of process improvements when necessary.

- Provide direction to staff when complaints are escalated to management level.

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 5+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Experience working in a call center environment in supporting either a state or federal based health insurance program preferred.

- Experience working with clinical staff, provider's offices, assessments and interfacing with individuals seeking care and services preferred.

- Experience supervising a team of approximately 25 employees preferred.

- Working knowledge of call center tools preferred.

- Working knowledge of how recipients receive care preferred.

- Must be willing and able to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST).

- Must be willing and able to travel to Massachusetts offices as business need dictates.

+ Compliance: Adhere to Medical Center policies and procedures, notifying appropriate personnel of any changes or incidents.
+ **Communication & Coordination are critical at EMMC** :
+ Alert floor staff, the Securitas Account Manager, Hospital management, and Police in situations involving escalated patient or customer behavior or need for assistance.
+ Assist clinical staff with de-escalation if necessary, prioritizing patient safety and using physical force only as a last resort.
