SUMMARY Under general direction, is responsible for planning and teaching Journalism and Writing Classes and publishing a department newsletter in accordance to the needs and preferences of individuals served.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Community Specialist - Journalism will include, but are not limited to the following: • Creates lesson plans and conducts Journalism and Writing classes at day program sites and in the community. • With the assistance of individuals, regularly publishes a Day Habilitation newsletter. • Orders and maintains supplies. • Assists programs in organizing staffing, transportation and logistics for community based writing activities. • Creates compelling and attractive flyers to advertise upcoming opportunities. • Works with individuals to create original essays, poems and other forms of writing. • Identifies community arts and cultural organizations to collaborate with, and establishes opportunities for individuals to interact and collaborate with other journalists and writers. • Implements universal precautions at all times. • Participates in in-service training programs as requested. • Provides supervision and guidance to Direct Support Professionals during classes and community events. • Keeps abreast of changes in the field. • Performs other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Excellent organization skills and ability to meet deadlines • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and appropriate software • Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, individuals served, employees, parents and outside contacts • Ability and willingness to adjust work schedule to attend and facilitate events that occur outside of regular business hours • Ability and willingness to travel to various program sites.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's Degree • At least six months experience with individuals with disabilities.

COMPENSATION $25-$26.50/hour plus Industry Leading Benefits!

As our Digital Video Designer, you’ll blend creativity and technical expertise to craft compelling video content. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Creating Video Content : Use 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, stop-motion, and illustration techniques to produce captivating videos.

  2. Graphics Optimization : Edit and enhance graphics and video content for social media platforms.

  3. Project Leadership : Take the lead on video projects from concept to delivery, including storyboarding, design, animation, feedback, quality assurance, and production.

  4. Technical Support : Provide technical assistance for design and video-related efforts.

  5. Invisible Editing : Manipulate and edit film seamlessly for a polished final product.

  6. Shot Decision Lists : Review shooting scripts and raw material to create shot lists based on scene value and continuity.

  7. Sequencing and Effects : Trim footage segments and assemble film sequences, incorporating music, dialogues, graphics, and effects.




  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and Premiere Pro).

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Usability testing experience.

  • Project management concepts (scheduling, cost, time management).

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript knowledge for front-end development.

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Problem-solving aptitude.

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of Video Design experience
